Yes but I'm not going to get all anti rd cos of some redundancys of people.
If it's either keeping them and running at more of a loss or us saving money for cafc then, for me it's bye bye jan. . I don't think RD is running round needlessly making redundancies

Low horizons might be all right for you, mate, but for a club like ours anything less than the play-offs would be a failure.
Get real mate! We may have been a moderately big club once but the reality is we were only promoted from the first division 3 years ago and since then have had pretty much the same players throughout.
Why do people get so worked up about people being made redundant. It happens all round the world and is no reason to be all anti rd
Because these people's lives revolved around CAFC, they contributed in some form however little to getting our club where it is. They are then chucked out the window as they are not required, it's not an easy thing to get over and affects their entire life from then on. And yes it does happen around the world
but there you go. Because it's loyal Charlton staff it's all doom and gloom and how could they but CAFC is still a business and has to be run as a financially viable concern. If that means redundancies then that is the way it is. Those leaving CAFC are no different from anyone else experiencing redundancy.
And before anyone starts blah, blah, bloody blah I have experienced redundancy twice. It's not nice and can be distressing but you just have to get on with it.

Agreed - this is a business run by a very succesful businessman and not some kind of local community scheme. What is / was Jan's job ?

Behave. That actually made me laugh out load, are you an ex Spurs fan. You need to adjust your viewfinder.
I think its the first time I've heard someone since the takeover elude to us getting back into the Prem - Peeters' 'Get them back to where they belong.' Have wondered if there was a long term plan to do so, so hopefully there is!

Im sure there is a plan, but for someone to say, anything other than play offs is a failure for this season, when we just survived relegation is frankly laughable.
Why do people get so worked up about people being made redundant. It happens all round the world and is no reason to be all anti rd
What a horrible comment.
Agreed a comment of ignorance.
Whilst a business needs to do what it needs to do to be effective and viable in our modern society making a person redundant affects their lives and the lives of many others. I know because I have been made redundant multiple times and have made numerous others redundant. It should never be treated with such a glib comment.
Being made redundant is horrible regardless of from which type of business. Football club or bank. That is a fact. It is also a fact that Charlton Athletic are a business and needs to conduct itself as such in terms of financial prudence. Don't moan about an employee being made redundant on one thread and then bemoan the fact we can't afford to sign xyz on another or that there are still potholes in the car park. Financial responsibility is across all aspects of the business.
I am genuinely sorry for whoever it was having to leave I really am but as someone else has already said redundancy is a hard fact of life in every business.
Yes but I'm not going to get all anti rd cos of some redundancys of people.

'Bye Bye Jan?'. Really? I've no idea what she does or if she is a fan, although after that amount of time one would assume she has a natural affiliation at least. I also realise that redundancy is yet to be confirmed. To stay somewhere for twenty years I'd say she probably enjoyed her job and the people she worked around though. Hopefully she wanted this, if not then it's enormously sad.
Would LOVE to know what the offer is! Wild speculation anyone (or probably plenty of that on the Poyet thread?!) If he goes despite a great offer, then so be it. Although, hopefully, money won't be the deciding factor.

You need to learn to walk before you can run!
Rubbish. There isn't a single club in this league that doesn't start the season with ambitions for the play-offs. With our history, ground and level of support we ought to be right up there. It's a bit sad that some of our own supporters condone the penny-pinching of the owner and the low expectations of the manager.
Everything big Bobby peeters said was bang on the money
Had Scp said it most would have masterbated till they went boss eyed both male and female
Now is the time for every single cafc fan to drop the cynicism and get behind BP and Rd 100%
Yea right. Wait until you hear the names of some of the latest who are to be made redundant at the club. In the light of that, getting behind RD is not something high on my agenda.
Who else is leaving? I saw on twitter another person with 20 years service is off.
Mick Everett @Addickted05 · Jun 20 Another colleague of mine with 20 years service departed from the club today. Best wishes for the future Jan.
No idea is they were made redundant or left for some other reason/s
Mick is referring to Jan Martin who sadly has been made redundant after 20 years of loyal service to our Club ( even though she doesn't like football !) There was no reason why she would have voluntarily left her post, I can assure you. Her enthusiasm & sheer hard work, especially in a period where her fellow staff members fell by the wayside should be commended.
Jan worked as a Facilities Management Co-ordinator and gave her all from an office in the bowels of the West Stand which was no more than a large cupboard. From time to time, she emerged for some fresh air....
Jan was heavily involved in the volunteering at The Valley over recent seasons inc the seat cleaning projects which is where we spoke about helping with the Pierre Bolangi Memorial Garden.
Whilst I do not know the full facts about Jan's redundancy, nor do I know who will be taking over her heavy workload, she will be sorely missed and IMHO deserved better than her ultimate fate.
A truly lovely lady whose sunny smile lit up the dark days of recent years.

Enjoy your "retirement", Jan. You SO deserve it !
Well, legally it is the position, not the person, who is made redundant - so assume the powers that be reckon they can do without anyone taking over Jan's "heavy workload"?
Sorry to hear this and wish Jan all the very best.
Sometimes think there is clearing out going on for the sake of clearing out, rather than any grand strategy...

Got to be the failure to spend another £80k on connecting the undersold heating pipes to a new boiler @ShootersHillGuru , tight fisted git he only done £700k on the new pitch :-0

The Kermorgant business, for example. Duchatelet's unequivocal declaration at his takeover press conference that he isn't going to spend big on transfers or wages. Reliance on youth - cheap to run. Peeters has been appointed instead of an experienced English manager - Chris Hughton, say - because he is inexpensive and easy to push around. Duchatelet's personal fortune is around £420m.

i think its a bit sad you think think that because of our history, ground and support we should be in the play offs. We've just survived relegation. Expect nothing and be pleasantly surprised.

Hold no grudges to either as like Greenie Junior says its a fact of life now.. Its probably gonna happen to us all at some stage
Regardless though wish Jan all the best and hope she finds something soon
