Good stuff but it's not official yet, could still end up at Newcastle...
  • I hope Sky are right?!
  • Great news if true.
  • I'll believe it when it's on moms net.
  • I hope it's true!!
Surely now players can see "some" transfer movement by us will hopefully convince we are on the up! I think anyone seeing us give young Igor a 5 year deal will st up and take notice. Let's hope we've got that long awaited "goal getter" we have craved for, for so long.
Well done Morrow... .you know it makes sense!!!

Muttley said 'Great riches await Poyet - we can work that out. Going for the money now might mean he misses out financially later - if say he doesn't get the games in the next couple of years. He is too good a player to follow the money. Another season or half a season with Charlton - a team he is comfortable in and where he know he will start and the team will play to his strengths -a team were he also has enough credit to allow his form to dip. It should be a no brainer really!

if he is sold for 10 million rather than for free - he will be more likely to start. He wouldn't be a punt! His next club should be a Swansea too, not a Chelsea!

I thought this thread was about Michael Morrison however what if young Diego gets a career ending injury god forbid in the short term? The views of fans don't always correspond with those of the player or his immediate family I'm afraid. If he were my son I would say 'go fill your boots now and make hay whilst the sun shines'.....bench warming or not :-0
Edit ; Great news on Moro though if true :-)

Sadly I agree, completely, about Poyet. The world has more than enough people that were will tell you they could have been rich now if they'd only....

On a positive note I also agree with you about Morrison. It's just a little sad that we are, ultimately, jumping for joy because we managed to keep one (just one) or our, out of contract, first eleven from last season.
  • Keeping Morro is fantastic. Of our four main out of contract, it looks like (sky sports is generally pretty reliable) we have kept him, given up Hamer in order to give Pope (a better keeper in the long run?) his chance, and maybe lost Poyet who realistically I never thought we had a chance of keeping. Dervite is real the only surprise.

Then take into account Vetekele (proving we clearly have money), Buyens and there is a month and a half before the season starts.........things are looking ok.

  • Hope it's true, played nearly 150 games in his 3 years at charlton we would be mad to have let him go, not always the best defender but gives 100%. Fingers crossed.

Michael Morrison to sign 2-year deal at #cafc. More in today's @SthLondonPress.
  • Brilliant news. It's so important that we retain players like Morrison who knows exactly what Charlton is all about.

Hand that pen over to Diego when you've finished Michael.
  • great news! Really like Morro
  • Excellent news.
  • Really happy and very positive about this.
  • really hope this is true. keeping Morro, Jacko, Solly, Rhoys & Wilson gives us a good bed of solid Charlton type players at the club. Mixed in with the youngster who will grow into there roles and some overseas talent it could well be a very good blend.

Well said, people talk of our club being dismantled, or selling its soul but I think for the most part that is nerves and disappointment talking - understandably. Until such times as replacements come in, Dervite and Hamer are big losses, being proven and experienced players after all. That said, there are still plenty of players who know the club and have it's values at heart still present and here for the future, and while the likes of Vetokele and Buyens have no experience of the English game, they have very respectable records in their respective leagues - these are not the past it has beens/never-weres that some feared we'd be lumbered with. If they do well, then yes they'll be sold or moved on, but what's new there? Only that they will end up playing for the first team in Belgium instead of rotting on a Premiership bench. It is not as though RD will have single handedly have turned us into a selling club - Parker, Shelvey, Jenkinson, Bowyer even - this is the way the club is run and compared to many club owners RD is at best a medium fish in a large pond - the richest owner we've ever had (I believe) but there are a lot of much richer chairmen out there, even without the Premier League distorting the whole football financial pyramid. Expectations must be tempered appropriately.
  • Definitely more positive news. Just as important as bringing in a new signing as far as i'm concerned. Would love Poyet to do the same but if he doesnt we move on quickly and hopefully continue to strengthen the squad.

  • I knew he'd take my advice when I sat on his table at the sponsors dinner ; P
  • Quality news. Nice one mozza.
  • Great news, past 3 seasons our defence has been solid and despite having a few different CB partners and injuries to Wiggins and Solly. Morro has been an ever-present.
  • Great news. Does this mean we can play 4 at the back now?

Sad for sure but it's the end of one era and the beginning of another. Doors have closed for some who were unable to secure a contract at a level they thought they were worth, they move on and so should we. Moro (my player of the full season) would appear to be happy with his lot though! COYRs
  • Despite moving to Leicester and then Charlton, Morro has kept his roots in Newmarket.

Evidently his wife is settled there - and probably told him to re-sign or he won't get his leg over on Sunday morning.

  • Fingers crossed this is confirmed on the OS very soon.

Another piece of our jigsaw firmly in place & the mix of young guns/experienced heads/foreign arrivals will make for an interesting , and dare I say, exciting season.

    Bring it on !!!!!
  • Thank God (if true, which it seems it is) have to say he's been THE defender of Charlton for the last few seasons, would be a shame to lose him, I would hedge a bet that he would fit onto most Championship teams defense, or at least certainly on the bench
  • My only ever so slight worry is that this story was leaked to the SLP as a final come and get me warning to other clubs umm-ing and arh-ing about making an offer but hopefully it is just more what it looks like and he will be signing today.
