Google is to start building its own self-driving cars. The car will have a stop-go button but no controls, steering wheel or pedals.

Pictures of the Google vehicle show it looks like a city car with a "friendly" face, designed to make it seem non-threatening and help people accept self-driving technology.

Will this be Bob Peeters CAFC club car.

Club car made up but not the rest.

Perhaps the club are keen that they get something positive out to the fans but didn't want to upset Barnsley by going public. A leak to a local journo might be a way. Not saying it's either professional or true but SLP got it from somewhere.

I'll reserve judgement on Peeters but I am concerned and confused as to why the club haven't announced his contract length. Simply saying 'this guy has 2 or 3 years' would suggest there is a plan and we're not simply bumbling our way through each month based upon who's in Roland's good books at that time.

Similarly, it's annoying that for up to date news we're now having to rely on the SLP. The club really are creating more questions than they're answering at the moment, that's not progress.

I agree with the fact we should know the length of Peeters contract.

However, its seems the club is getting stick for not releasing comments or stories on transfer speculation (See the O'Grady thread) and when there were rumours of Peeters getting the Head Coach job.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've never know the club to comment on speculation. In fact, unless its a top club thats caught up in the national press, I've not known any club to release official statements on such subjects before they are done deals. You might get a 'He's one of the players we are looking at' from a manager but not an actual press release from the club.

The comments on Facebook and Twitter last night were a complete joke. At least 99% of the people on here reveal their reasons for being doubtful/concerned or supportive, and thats what makes the place work.

Facebook had comments like "f**k off back to belgium" etc, and it was a lot of people as well. To make it worse it wasn't just from youngsters.

That group has really gone downhill recently. Just seems to be nonsense posts and constant squabbles

I'm not thinking of O'Grady, like the Gradel 'bid' I suspect nothing will come of it. However, the northwest knew about Dervite far before us, Hamer similarly, Riga's departure was never explained, Peeters was seemingly a done deal for a while. Perhaps my expectations are now too high because of the internet but keeping already disillusioned fans in the dark doesn't help.

Re-read what I said. It began with "I'm not thinking of O'Grady."

    His name is Bobby,
    He's Bobby Peeters.
    He came from Belgium,
    To manage us,
    He was at Millwall,
    Where he won fuck all.
And with the reds, he's taking, us up.

Sad isn't it VG, probably the same lot who booed when Riga made his way to the dugout at his first game in charge at the Valley.
    Tossers the lot of 'em.

    Hope this a good appointment.

Roland must surely know if he can get us to the Premiership, he will multiply his investment easily. It's the richest league in the world where you get £70 million in tv money for finishing bottom!

I would imagine Roland's aim to get us to the Premiership. Even if he treats us strictly as a business, that league is where the money is.

Charlton in the Premiership would earn Roland more than Standard Liege could in their wildest dreams.

Ok I'll join in with Jason Lee, Sammy Lee and Christopher Lee. The last one being the likeliest of course.

The Facebook group is a joke, I joined it to get up to date info on transfer deadline day about who was coming in/leaving etc. As ValleyGary points out, no substance, terrible grammar and overall just clogs up my news feed......I know there are some good people associated with the club that are on it, but the majority of posts are as mentioned above.

I haven't read the 8 pages since this was announced. Aside from (I assume) some blind optimism, plenty of despair and a little realism is there anything else for me to catch up on?

I definitely think we should get behind "big Bob"!
Belgium are for whatever reason are now becoming a force in world football. Look at the players in the national team, I know we haven't got any of them BUT is this a result of years of coaching?, good coaches? a well run association?
We now have an ex international player, young coach/manager who is very well respected and highly rated in Belgium!
I am quite excited with this appointment!
Come on lads and lasses let's all get behind BP and whatever players we 'end up with'!!!

    COYR....

    I couldn't agree more
    Ditto.
