I think we have to bear in mind that Dervite, Hamer and Morrison are all around 25 and established championship players. Their next contract will possibly be the most lucrative of their careers. All three were vital to our fight against relegation and all three might be replaced at Charlton? Let's wait and see - I have every confidence that Duchatelet Meire and the football coaches have had a chance,to fully understand the championship and they should know by now what the best 15-18 players need to look like.to be competitive next season. Stephens and Kermorgant left because they could earn big money elsewhere but I'm not sure these three are in the same league?
I have absolutely zero confidence that Duchatelet and Meire know who the best players for Charlton to be competitive next season are. So again, who is making the decisions on player acquisitions and contract renewals?
It is one of life's great mysteries on who the person/persons responsible are for player recruitment. Would love to have a chat with them.
I am less confident in the ability of Marie and Prothero. If we are using the execs to do deals, we need a more experienced deal maker IMO. Someone who knows the domestic scene. Because we dont seem to be looking for a manager that does that.
Business concluded early? Norfolk and chance
Of course the perfect man for that role is available. Prudence and value. ..AC
I think KM is in the wrong role. RD knows bugger all about the championship on the evidence so far so he should swallow his ego and get a wise old head. She is green as...KM player acquisitions? Dont rate that at all
100% this. Prothero had the brief and the ability to sign all the talent u23 at the club except Poyet. And the four players in question will all have a resale value if they sign. I'm sure player acquisition will improve on what we saw in January but I wonder why the club are not clear on the policy and who is executing the deals? Perhaps we hear more once the Belgian season ends - as per the Riga thread?
Others may know better, but I don't think Prothero is still around.

Is KM doing the deals scouting the players? i would be very surprised. I would expect that she would be working on the legal contract side and the financial side with maybe Riga, but if not then Dyer and chappell identifying targets. Did Chappell not represent us in a "network" get together.
There is not a lot we can do except wait and see and even if we do get a load of unknown names it won't be until we see them play in a league match that we can judge if RD has made another players cock up or unearthed a set of gems.
I could deal with losing dervite , Morrison and hamer as long as poyet signs up .
Why would he sign up when the core of the team has been released since January with no replacements brought in? Oh, and we have no manager / head coach.
class="Quote" rel="MuttleyCAFC and we are not allowed to be concerned. Are we?
We are and we should be. The fans contribute half the revenue and I believe there is a commercial value in explaining things even if it needs to be a holding statement because of the sensitivity of ongoing negotiations. Better comms can only enhance ticket sales. Thousands of fans read this site and if the club say nothing then this site (& sky and other sources) is the only place to get any rumours or information.
Perhaps @razil might be able to contact the club on our behalf?

Thought you were taking the p*** before I went on wiki! So this may tie in with Guy Luzon being mentioned as our next manager/yes man to Duchatelet. What the f*** is going on at this club?

An ongoing dialogue is the Trust's top priority.
However as has been said here before, the Club have indicated that they prefer to start this once we have seen what has been put in hand in the close season. We are seeking clarification but that sounds like late July to us.
Nobody should imagine that we are happy with that, being just as anxious as any other fans to know that we will have a better squad. We are taking various steps to try and persuade the Club of the advantages of dialogue sooner rather than later, but it would be better to leave it at that.
We understand that the Club undertakes some kind of monitoring of this and other sites, so they will of course be aware of the mood in threads like this.

I work for a global multinational Belgian company, none of what is going on is unfamiliar it's quite incredible the parallels between my company and what is going on at CAFC

Luzon is a red herring. He signed a two year contract extension only last month.
However Dudu Duhan needs to be carefully monitored.
Given that Powell said at the VIP meeting in March that signing up the 'assets' - eg Morrison - was one of the club's priorities, I'd be quite surprised if he hasn't had any contract offer in the last few months, even allowing for Riga coming in as Morrison was still a first choice.
Whether it was an offer to his liking is another matter, and as a free agent he now obviously holds a much stronger hand if we do want to keep him.

Perhaps that's where Powell and Duchatelet parted ways in thinking ?
Hopefully Morrison will sign a new deal soon if he is offered one. Although limited at bringing the ball out of defence, he gives his all and seems settled here.

Hopefully you enjoy your job oakky
I do, I have 15 years experience of working for Belgians - they are very clever, hard working people from a small disunited country that punches considerably above it's weight - definitely a different mentality to your average Brit & probably a big culture shock to some.

Who are these mysterious football coaches and Duchatelet and Mieres Championship nous is prolly as clued up as I am on micro electronics
Just think it would be nice to hear something from the club regarding these contracts.
The first priority has to be appointing a manager head coach, whether it's Jose or someone else. If I were an out of contract player, I wouldn't consider signing anything until I know a bit more about the man who picks the team, formation, style of play etc and to talk to him to see where exactly I'd fit into his plans..............

Which is of course precisely what Morrison is quoted as saying in the SLP article:
“After not signing many last season it was a long, tough season. You want to know it’s not going to be like that again and see progression as well.
“You want to see some clear direction. When you look at January we brought in players and a lot didn’t play as many games towards the end of the season and at Blackpool only Astrit [Ajdarevic] was available for selection.”

Better comms can only enhance ticket sales. Thousands of fans read this site and if the club say nothing then this site (& sky and other sources) is the only place to get any rumours or information.
