First half was awful from both teams and sordell was rubbish....second half we came out and passed the ball about and got stuck into them...worthy winners in the end....well done to all those in fancy dress....loads of Ben Hamer look alikes.
When was the last time one of ours got five league goals in five days?
So glad I didn't miss that. When I think back to Donny away there has been one hell of an improvement. Poyet, for my money, is already better than either Bowyer or Shelvey ever was for us.
Hmmm. That's a big claim.
In JonJo's case he had the misfortune to be learning his trade in a shambolic 3rd division outfit under a manager who seemed to be more scared by his talent than relishing it.
Great result and well done Callum mental , 5 goals in 2 games , if he gets that next season i'll be pleased !
Feel more optimistic after a brief convo with Katrien on Wednesday , i said i saw her dancing at the end of Watford win , she said she's got a special dance for when we get to the Prem , i said you might be too old to dance by the time we get to the PREM , she said wait and see , with a glint in her eye !!
next season
1% Automatic promotion 4% Play-off Bants 40% 7th-12th 52% 13th-21st 3% The Big "R"
Give over. That's way too positive for us.
Cut him some slack he's smitten with Katrien :0)
Who isn't? (Fanny & Weegie, you don't have to answer if you don't want to.)
Thought i'd post up the after match celebrations. It's not the best quality, but i think you get the general feel of the atmosphere. Riga seemed genuinely touched by the fans singing his name. Lets hope it's not the last time we sing Hamer's name either. I'm sure Wilson is seen running off to the changing room and coming back on wearing two shirts which he throws to the crowd! No tunnel jump, though it was funny watching the copper also watching and waiting to see who comes out, lol. A great weekend away and sets us up nicely for next season. Cheers.
For once the OS got it right. "What was all the fuss about?" Well done everyone finished off a horrible season in, what looked a few weeks ago, unlikely style Let's see what next year brings?
Well that was a mad couple of days. Months ago I booked tickets to take my 15 year old lad to his first gig. He has wanted to go for several years but his age and other issues have got in the way.
In the last couple of months he has become as mad on the Addicks as me. Although he currently lives in Liverpool, we've managed to get to quite a few games home and away.
On Thursday he got the train from Liverpool to Norwich (five hours). He stayed the night and we drove to the O2 Brixton Academy on Friday to see Korn. With the gig finishing late evening, I had a plan to get to Blackpool. We drive to Milton Keynes, stayed in a Travelodge and then catch at train to Blackpool, arriving 11.40 ish. It was a great plan. The only thing we didn't bargain with was the Virgin Ticketing system was up the creek. Despite being in the station in time to get the tickets printed out, we missed the f*cking train!!!
Undeterred we decided to drive up. Arrived in the ground missing the first 15 minutes of a first half that was pretty scrappy and lacking in quality. The game seemed like a nailed on 0-0.
As the second half unfolded, we started to pick up our game and once the first goal went in, we just relaxed. Great moves for all the goals I thought. Really pleased for Harriott. It just shows what the confidence can do.
Great celebrations at the end. Some wicked costumes and real togetherness again in our club.
After the game, drove back to Liverpool via the delights (not) of Blackpool Pleasure Beach, to drop my lad off and then a slow drive home to Norwich, rolling in at Midnight completely wrecked.
As for Riga, well he has done a sensational job under the circumstances. Of course it would be brilliant if he stayed as manager but I doubt he will. I would love to see him in a coaching role for us - I suspect he will be even more effective at that. My hope is that if he is to be replaced, it is by a manager with more credentials.
For me Riga is now a new legend for our club, whatever happens in the future.
What I mean is one more well known and already with a proven track record. I say this because Riga was available when appointed to help RD out but clearly wasn't RD choice to manage the club going forward. There would be three scenarios
1. RD already had someone other than JR lined up to take over in the summer after removing CP
2. He was expecting CP to stay and backed him.
3. There was no plan and RD was winging it.
Scenario 2 is very unlikely given all the stuff that has been aired on here. I refuse to believe that with his business acumen, he would just wing it.
We are left with the first scenario. That seems to fit the circumstances. So in my mind somebody whose CV shows greater managerial credentials than JR will have been lined up to take the job. Of course RD could change his plan and give JR a long term contract. My feeling is that is unlikely but of course I would be delighted if it happened.
Several posters have said and I paraphrase "our next manager is currently in employment" now I have no idea if that is true or not but it came out with the rumour that JR was taking over The Academy from Paul Hart.
This was aired on ITTV by Reams. I am inclined to believe it may well be true but of course the fog of rumour is often made denser by mis-information as well as accurate leaks.
I just feel the "someone already lined up" rumour most accurately fits the circumstances and also the nom comittal nature of JR's comments about leading the club going forward.
Agreed. RD may or may not have taken a punt on JR (probably not, as he knows him) - but if it was a gamble then it paid off handsomely. I would much rather someone who has proved successful with this bunch of players, took to the Championship environment with ease, and clearly relishes working with talented youngsters, of which we are blessed, than some egomaniac 'been there done that' manager.

We are in for an interesting few months methinks.
Reams does have some good information however he has admitted that he was fed some duff information, I am not sure if this was part of it.
Just arrived back in central london after an excellent weekend in Blackpool. Far too much to drink, but saw a few old faces in the pubs and bars over friday and saturday.
Nice to watch and not stress over the result. Seemed to show in the performance by the players as well.
Had a first this weekend as well. Refused entry to a Weatherspoons at 10:20am on saturday. One ticked off the bucket list.

Or he just makes it all up. A broken clock is still right twice a day..

How many efforts did they have in the first half ? but i only remember Hammer saving one real save to make. Second half we looked far more organised .We had a midfield for a start ! Once we scored they lost their shape and we knew we could hit them on the break which we did.
Great night in Yates South Pier------im sure the Northerners now know the real words to "Alice" !!!!
The scenes at the end of the game were amazing. I (plainly mistakenly) thought that, after their final home game of the season, all teams put on some sort of thank you to the fans like we do, especially after being promoted or escaping relegation, but the only celebrating being done at Blackpool was by us. It was just like an extension of Tuesday night. Some Blackpool fans stayed behind and I did wonder if their team would re-emerge after letting us have our 5 minutes. But gradually all the home supporters drifted away and left us to it and the Blackpool players never showed. Very strange. (I thought Lawrie Wilson was brilliant at the end - hope he doesn't mind his song!)
agree re Wilson, he gave his shirt to a kid then ran back to the dressing room, while the others continued the celebrating, and returned with another shirt for someone.

Lawrie Wilson is my Player of the Year. I'd love to see him on a long term deal. Not sure where he'd play with Solly back in the team as Solly was always my first player on the team sheet, but he'd always be in my first 11. As for your song Lawrie, we love you to bits so don't take it personally, it is definately a term of endearment!
Reams (and a couple of others) seem to spend a lot of their energy slagging off Charlton Life and our members. Given what I know to be the case from being on here, I tend to take his opinions with a large pinch of salt.
Riga has to stay!! Please!!! Also would love to see Astrit and petrucci back next year! Think they both have that added quality and technical ability and flair the rest of us lack..
speak for yourself. i ooze flair
Wearing flares and oozing flair are not the same thing.
