Watched on the stream, we lacked any ideas going forward, but if Reza's shot when under the bar it would've been 1-1 and they wouldn't have scored from the resulting counter attack.
Good to see Solly back, suspect he may start Tuesday.
Win Tuesday and we relegate Barnsley. Donny and Blackpool have tough games left as well
copying my comment from the match thread-: The stats prove we were second best all over the pitch, yes we had a bad goal for offside given against us....but watching the stream was not good I'm afraid.....we need the 3 points on Tuesday....sorry for those who were following the thread...I couldn't understand why not many were following and saw that someone had found a stream so I switched to that...hope you didn't mind today...........I'll be back as normal on Tuesday.
Results went really well for us despite the spanners equaliser. Games are running out. A win on Tuesday puts us above Blackpool , Doncaster and Birmingham.
Despite our own ability to ruin it not a bad day. Still out of the relegation zone, Millwall still a win behind us Blackpool still dropping like a stone and Donny sucked in.
Need to get this idea that we only need to turn up on Tuesday ... Barnsley will see this as a must win game and will come at us hard. Fans need to make a noise before and during the game.
Brighton looked a far better team than us although I suppose the styles were similar. Big difference in the pace on the break, which we really seem to lack. Three disappointing goals, one from a mistake and two on breaks following a Charlton attack, but let's be honest, we were beaten by a better side and, despite Millwall's late equaliser, we didn't lose much ground on a weekend when I didn't really expect too much.
Last 20 minutes probably the best we played. Solly looked fine and that could really help in the run-in if he stays fit.
watched the online stream (which was amazingly stable), we were so tame it was ridiculous, brighton didn't look like they got out of second gear, a comfortable win for them...didn't need that late goal to damage the goal difference further. It's a shame we didn't have the attacking threat to trouble their reserve keeper ankergren, who is pony imo. Anyway, we move on to tuesday's massive game...
My god, I do feel sorry for all those who made the journey to Brighton to watch us today. They deserved much, much better than that. At least watching the stream it was possible to get some respite.
We were completely outplayed for the entire match. Brighton didn't get out of 2nd gear; they didn't need to. The new style passing game we have been attempting just didn't work. Zero ball control, 2nd to virtually every 50:50 ball, players falling over or simply being brushed aside. Wiggins and Cousins are the only ones who played the whole match that come out with any credit and the HUGE plus was seeing Chris Solly come on and make a good contribution - just hope he doesn't get a bad reaction to his knee.
It really did look as if we were deliberately playing at less than 100%, so as to preserve energy for Tuesday. If so, it is understandable in some ways, with such a punishing schedule, but also playing with fire. If we beat Barnsley on Tuesday it might be some vindication, but that's a big if on that showing.
Where's the passion, the fight, the pride? No sign of it today and that's just not good enough.
Millwall will survive, we need to get above Blackpool and some others
agree with that sadly , apparently scum battered watford and a standard millwall time goal to boot
We were shit today and i just can't believe we can keep upping our game for the next one, yet we still do with this win lose win lose run but i fear we may be running out of legs
great set of results for us today , totally ignoring the fact that palace are an eternity away from us in the football pecking order , at least it's not millwall and breathe .........
45% Championship football 55% Relegation heartbreak
Get above Doncaster and Blackpool and it becomes a straight fight for who gets more points over four games. Doncaster have Derby, Millwall, Reading and Leicester to play, Blackpool have Burnley, Brighton, Wigan and...us.
Tuesday is massive, but then we already knew that.
As for the game today - typical Saturday performance from us. Rubbish.

F**k the fans "getting behind the boys & making some noise" I just want the team to turn up for once & put a shift in that we can be proud of. Tuesday night is now about as big as St Andrews in 1987. I was there then & I want to see the same commitment as those players gave that evening and not the team that turned up (or didn't) a month ago at Bramall Lane. We win tues night and we bring 2 or 3 other teams into the mix, which we need to as I fear Millwall will get out of trouble.
I am not sure the second Brighton goal was offside, although I don't believe it would have made any difference as we had the predictable 0 attempts on goal. Feel for all the fans we took down there that we couldn't have been in the game for at least half an hour to engender some kind of enjoyment for them. The Poyet error might help him to stay with us, and seeing as he came out of nowhere to play I am really pleased to see Chris Solly back in action. I hope he is OK physically after that nice vignette from him, indeed he looked like the old Chris to me in his little spell on the field. Astrit, Reza, and Sordell did not seem to be in the game, neither was Harriott after his booking. I really hope we can limp over the line, but I still fear it will go to the wire. The pattern is mainly narrow wins and thumping defeats, and today was Riga's tenth game, the first point of call in order to assess how he is doing. I simply want him to keep us up, and he needs to make a good plan for the Tykes. If Barnsley score early, and certainly if Barnsley score before us, then we will have to go some to survive...have we got what it takes for the remaining battles?
Before a few weeks ago I would have been in such a bad mood following a 3-0 defeat on a Saturday, now it just seems inevitable. Moving on to our favourite day of the week, Tuesday!
Watched the stream. First time I've seen us play 'live' under Riga.
First the positives. I thought we competed well in midfield and Jackson, Cousins, Poyet and AA were all able to fight for possession and then play quick, neat passes in tight spaces to retain possession and eventually look to move the ball forwards. Also, despite the score line, the defence looked reasonably solid, and Brighton didn't create all that much (although still much more than we did).
Now the negatives. Once we got the ball under control in midfield and passed it forwards, that is where the problems started. I hate singling players out, but Sordell was effin useless, I don't think he managed to control the ball and lay it off once and somehow he failed to connect with the only decent ball we put in all afternoon just before Brighton broke for their third. Church was no better. Our utter inability to hold the ball up meant we were never able to build any decent possession in the final third. On the odd occasion we did get into a decent area the final and penultimate ball was awful. Sometimes over hit, sometimes under hit, sometimes over ambitious, sometimes totally predictable and, as was the case with a late free kick in a decent area and a first half corner, sometimes bloody backwards!
I expect the reviews will be slating and maybe I'd feel the same if I was jaded by watching us every week but for me it was another fine margins game, strange as that seems for a 3-0. If Hamer puts his foot through it instead of passing to a marked Poyet, if the linesman has his eyes open or Reza's deflected shot drops in and their deflected shot hits the post, it might have been different. Bottom line is though, it isn't different, we lost. Not too much damage done and we could climb as high as 18th if we win our next game in hand.
As I said on the match thread, we won't be relegated because we lose away to Brighton but we might be if we can't beat Barnsley at home. Tuesday night is a critical game.

In before the usual three days of we are getting relegated comments until our Tuesday night win as normal. ;-)

We have easier and more games left than everyone else. IT'll only be our fault if we go down.

Tuesday is the biggest game since Carlise 2012. We simply have to win it.
