Too many players ruin their careers chasing the money too young. Teams like United, Chelsea and now Man City just hoover up young talent.
Can the figures in that article really be right? Paying a 16-year-old £95,000 per year is madness.
I wouldn't be surprised to hear the likes of Jenkinson and Oxlade Chamberlain are on close to 10k + a week at arsenal.
Unless a player stays at the club that brought him through the youth ranks their wages inflate to disgusting amounts per week and many may never make 20 appearances for their new club but still be set for life.
The Ox on 10k a week? Easily treble that, reckon Jenkinson on about 10 is right. 1.9k a week sounds like a lot but in the Football world its not really surprising. If United thought he was going to end up being a star, they would have happily paid that considering the fee was pretty much non-existent.
Look mate, if we are going to sign any ageing rock stars, I'd much rather we go for proven, football talent, like Martin Kemp & Steve Norman of Spandau Ballet, who played for Melchester Rovers, back in the 80's

All the speculation on what he earns or not. Who cares! Its his business and the clubs to agree who will pay what. All we should really care about is "can he help us stay up?", "Is he gonna add anything?"

Totally agree, I couldn't give a rats arse what he is on. I would rely on Katrien and Roland to sort out the financial well being of the Club.
He was highly rated at Roma, he didn't make their first team but there was a big deal made out of Man Yoo poaching him. Based on what Roma and the Italian press made of him he's intelligent, great technique and short passer, prefers playing through the middle. I'm not sure he's the player we need but maybe it suggests we'll continue playing with 3 central midfielders and 3 forwards up front. Obviously the guys at The Valley know more than me or us.
I wouldn't read too much into him having played at Antwerp or elsewhere, Manc Reds have a link up with them and I think it's more a case of them wasting talent than Petrucci going the way of say, Arturo Lupoli.

Joe Piggott is on 5k per week so Jenks at 30k sounds right!!
If you think that we are paying a 20 year-old kid with one first team start 250,000 PA then you have got rocks in your head!
Our top wage earners - probably Wiggins, Morrison and Jackson - would be lucky to be getting 250,000 PA.
He'd be lucky to be on 50K per YEAR given our overall wages budget.
