We have the wendies to play so we might as well add those 3 points to our total now.
Lets not get too cocky, had it not been for your last minute goals against QPR and Bournemouth then things would've looked really bleak.
One thing for sure, we'll not play as bad as we did in the cup and we'll have a point to prove now against you boys in what would normally be a meaningless game.
Personally I think the bottom three will be the ones to go but there is always some sort of twist.
Who's being cocky ? " we won't play as bad as we did in the cup" Who are you ? Fricking Nostradamus ? You might play worse.
Like I said, that game was our worse performance (including the 2-0 loss at Yeovil) of the season, it was clear the occasion and the hype of the game got to the players not to mention our crippling injury list and bad team selections on the night, but hey-ho, taken all this on board I don't think it would take a genius to see that the probability of us playing better when we meet next is a very good possibility.

Are we allowed to play better too, or is it just about you? If we stay up and keep Poyet, Wednesday won't be able to keep up with us next season. Poyet plus Cousins is raw but they are going to be top top players. Two of the most exciting players I have seen us produce and at the same time!!!
Does anyone know of an online Championship predictor (where you input your own predictions)? For the last few seasons the BBC had one, but that seems to have disappeared.
The problem with those predictors is you always get surprise results - nobody would predict Yeovil to get a point against Wigan, Millwall to beat Derby away, us to beat QPR etc...

BBC stopped it as part of a cost cutting measure (seriously)

I think we'll get promoted next season under Gray.

Qualify for Champions League following season and then win the World Cup. We are MASSIVE.

Woudn't go that far.
Joking a side, under Dave Jones and after 16 games we were on 11points, since SG took over we've achieved 34 points from 20 games, that's promotion form mate.
Huge 3 points tonight, and hopefully another 4 wins between now and end of the season. Still reckon that Yeovil will be the ones to watch. Millwall will be desperate for a home win on saturday after the defeat this evening.
I think that Blackpool are the ones to get ahead of - possibly with Yeovil also doing enough - their remaining games are really tough. If we could get 10/12 more points and not lose at theirs, that really should be enough.
We've got two tough away games coming up and need to keep our heads regardless of how they go.
Stating the obvious but the Yeovil and Barnsley games really are key - have to avoid defeat in those two - as we did at Millwall - and we should be able to scrape a couple of wins elsewhere to keep us up - just...
Anything is still possible but it looks better than it did a few weeks ago.
The bad news - we just can't score enough goals. Apart from being a turn off for crowds, it is truly remarkable that we have actually managed to advance our position whilst scoring only two goals in seven games. Hopefully we will find a solution or keep being able to grind out enough points.
The good news - it's in our own hands. Last nights result was absolutely crucial. We are now out of the bottom three with games in hand and a points gap. It's up to us now. And just as our inability to score is an issue, our defence seems to grow stronger.
I'm optimistic, but as results elsewhere last night show, others are not ready to lie down and die just yet.
I have looked at the average points per game achieved by the bottom 5 teams to date and multiplied those individual figures by the final total of games played, to arrive at the final league table. I realise it is crude because it doesn't take account of current form, ease or otherwise of remaining games and home and away games ratio. Nevertheless:

Still think that Blackpool are in trouble. Their remaining fixtures are horrible:

If they don't beat Yeovil, then it is pretty difficult to see where they are going to get four more points from, which would leave them on 45. In fact, if things go to form, they could quite possibly be relegated even before we play them.
If anybody Predicted correctly the outcomes of yesterday’s matches involving the relegation threatened teams, well done! The problem is that I doubt any of us did – multiply that over the remaining games and you can’t say a team will win that one or lose this one. What you have to do is look at more generally, how the team is playing – but even then – some teams can put it a spurt then fall away. It is true that Yeovil have looked like they have stepped up a gear, but they have lost 4 points from their last two games despite impressing – that can take its toll.
Also, you can see a real gap between the bottom three – we are in no man’s land in the sense that if we win one of those 3 games in hand, we will have produced a gap with games running out! If I was Yeovil or Barnsley, I would be targeting us and the home games we have against them are must not lose affairs for us – and must wins for them. Would rather we weren’t playing them really, but it does give us the opportunity of putting them to bed!
Teams can go on a bad run and Blackpool, Doncaster and Brum are still right in it, and it wouldn’t surprise me if at least one of these finishes weakly!
Well it's fair to say that no one could have predicted us picking up 6 points in the 3 away games after the Burnley home defeat.
Now we head into two home games against play off chasing, Reading and a six pointer against fellow relegation strugglers, Yeovil. A minimum of 4 points is required in my eyes, and if we can get them points, then I reckon two more wins would guarantee us Championship football next season.
Well when i started this thread after the Bournemouth home win, i personally thought it would be 3 from 4 to get relegated. My opinion of that did not change until 10pm last night. Now it's 3 from 7 with Birmingham, Doncaster and Blackpool dragged into it.
2 more wins could be enough. Didn't realise Doncaster had that tough a run in. Their game vs Millwall could be huge. Blackpool in freefall with tough fixture and protests against their owner.
It's a bit of double-edged sword. In some ways, we want Blackpool to slip into the pack, but we don't want to be playing them in the last game if there is something on it for both teams. The thought of Ricardo Fuller sending us down is unthinkable (except that I have thought it).

Apparently he might be out for the rest of the season

Had that match been drawn, Brum would only have been 3 points ahead of us right now.
And, just supposing, a Charlton victory would have seen us both on level pegging with 35 points each.
Which, of course, is why these games are called 6 pointers.

Sorry Op, but it is always the bottom three that go down!

Bored at lunch so took the time for this, of course I was rather negative towards us, this is how it will finish if we only win two of the last games.

BUT once we're there, it's a 1 in 4 lottery. :-)
