The more I hear about DP's behaviour with the contract situation/negotiation the more I dislike it. He had no intention of signing for us, none whatsoever. Very classless
I'm not so sure. If I'm interviewing for a new job I don't tell my employer until I've got an offer. We shouldn't have got to that position.
I understand your point and agree however its not what I'm referring to Morts, its stuff I can't put on here, but leaving the club hanging is not good form!!
Very dodgy. Although as part of the Network, we are in non position to point fingers.
But if it's true, what pisses me off is that he'd be far better off on loan at Standard, playing European football in a passionate atmosphere.
I see his dad all over this. Knob.
But look, as much as we might be disappointed this is a guy who's played just 23 games for us and, whilst showing potential, is a way off being the finished article. We might have helped him develop, we might have relied on him too much - and if he was loaned to Standard the chances of us seeing him in our colours again is still very low,
Personally I think he's made an unwise decision - particularly as it looks like Chelsea - but if we look at him in 10 years' time and are watching a top level footballer then he's look after himself well.
Our main concerns should be (i) how much we get for him (ii) how he's replaced - and in Buyens it looks like we've done some decent business.

You are doing it again. They are not operating on the same planet as us.
Having a medical at West Ham, according to Sky Sports
We are hearing West Ham are closing in on the signing of Diego Poyet from Charlton. Poyet is set to leave Charlton after turning down a new deal at the club and is thought to be undergoing a medical at Upton Park.
A place where he will start IMO, I said to my brother there are 6/7 Prem clubs he would start for and West Ham are one of them.
Was willing to say good luck and hope he prospers if he signed for anyone but Palace, West Ham or Millwank. Now I hope he sits on the bench and never plays again.
Interesting choice. West Ham want to play more attractive and attacking football this year. I guess his passing ability will appeal with that but I wouldn't say he was renowned for his key passes in attacking areas.
Also, he will have a battle on his hands trying to start ahead of Nolan, Jarvis, Noble, Morrison, Downing etc. all players proven at that level. Plus anyone else they sign.
Now I'm not saying he isn't good, but realistically he will get 10-15 league games in that side. He was a good championship player with the potential to be a reasonable lower prem player in 3-4 years. He's joining a team that is going into the season with a boom or bust strategy. If they get everything falling into place perfectly he will be replaced by players who can play to a higher level in a year or two.
I see his career following the same path as Richard Chaplow. Not a bad career path to be fair.
i feel like i'm becoming further and further out of touch with fellow CAFC supporters, and this episode just underlines that.
From the player's point of view, he has been completely justified. He's got himself a divisional trade-up, long-term contract on probably very good money, and a more realistic chance of getting 1st team football at a middling Prem league club. If you are setting out a career path, that looks a pretty sensible approach to me. Probably won't even have to move home.
He owes Charlton nothing in loyalty, as said there is no loyalty in football any more, and no club could have highlighted that more in recent times than Charlton.
The key thing is ensuring there is rulings in place to adequately reward the lower club. I don't know what the current determination is, but i'm confident Starprix will have more chance of being rewarded with him going West Ham than an overseas club.
Whether any of that filters back in the draw marked 'Charlton', who knows.
That's the key - lower league clubs should be properly compensated. And that includes us having to cough up when we pinch players from further down the pyramid.

There are a few of us who see it this way.
I do think the money will be in the Charlton account though.
Don't like West Ham, but he's more likely to get first team action than if he'd taken the big payday and gone to Argggghsenal or Chelski Inc. Hope he has some fond memories of struggling against relegation with Charlton. He's worked hard and earned it, and done a lot to keep us up. Hope he moves on from Wet Spam in a season or so to something better. In a more pleasant setting. With a better manager. And nicer team mates. And better prospects. And a classier strip.
A good move for Diego, gutted that we have lost him but cannot begrude him the move which I think will be a good one for him. All the best Diego and thanks for last searson.
Hope he does well, thanks for the half season you gave us Diego.
Hopefully we get a decent fee and a good sell on in case he moves for big money in near future. Also hope he chooses to represent England as that will boost his sell-on value if he gets into the squad.

RD said we COULD sign a Martian.....
That would be the one move that would change my opinion of him .
He was asked about possibly being force to liege by a fan..... Interesting response...

Underlines BTW not understates
Not as if he left us to join another lower championship club.
He has got a contract at a top flight club, one where he could/should get playing time rather than joining a chelsea type team.
Good luck to the lad.

glad he didn't go to palace
Dry your eyes and move on.
