Can Admin put a flag in the title of this thread when there is something worth reading on it please? Ta. No offence intended to those posting so don't shoot me down.
  • Someone go to the Sunderland sites comments about Jack Colback regarding his transfer to Newcastle. It is frightening because it's exactly the same as us!

Ah, yes Sunderland - it leaves a bitter taste doesn't it? Hypocrisy of the highest order: it seems they have no recollection of the manipulation of the fee for Michael Turner which diminished the value of the sell-on clause for CAFC then? I'm so upset for them.....

Did I miss something?? why would we have still got something for him if he went to Hull from Brentford before Sunderland?

To be fair, admin usually do amend the thread title when stories develop.
Something along the lines of "EDIT: signs for arsenal page 31"
  • Hoping there is no news before this thread hits 1000.

  • I don't care no more to be far if he goes he goes and we will move on with out him. Other players and better plays have come and gone over the 109 years of Charlton.

  • He's too good for us,
    He's too good for uuuuus,
    Diego Poyet,
    He's too good for us.

Good luck in the future Diego whether that's at this freak show or not
  • It's the official statement from Sunderland on their website that I am referring to. I stated that they are disappointed in him in that they have invested time and money into him and he refused to sign a contract until he knew what division they would play in. Then as soon as their position was guaranteed in the top-flight he refused to return to negotiations and has now joined their bitter rivals.

Perhaps if we hadn't sung this at him, he might now be thinking that we are currently 'about right' for him!;-)

Thought it was a hypocritical statement myself.
What about all the youngsters who have invested their time and efforts at Sunderland only to be told see ya, no professional contract for you mate.
  • That is the way it goes. I will be very sad to see Poyet go but it is up to him as a free agent. Charlton have invested a lot of time and expense in Poyet as he has been with the Club since the age of ten. What really rankles is the fact that we are losing a potential ten million pound footballer for £400000.
  • Not sure he's a £10m potential footballer tbh. He looked decent in a shite team, yeah he's young but theres a hell of a long way to go to reach that kind of money. If we were selling him for 2-3m tomorrow I'd take that personally and reinvest across the squad.

Do hope he signs of course, but an astute signing up front or out wide could prove just as important.

  • Lets have a whip round and buy the lad a Belgian passport.

That might just clinch a deal at the last minute.

    Exactly
  • Did the club offer him a new contract before he made his debut or were they prepared to let him go if he turned out to be shit?

But he has the potential to be a top player. Being English, if he proves himself in the Premiership, it would take top dollar to buy him.

given how good he is and how many youth talent have had their deals extended i would be amazed if he wasn't offered something last September time, get the impression that the fact that he wasn't signed up then means he wasn't then ever going to be. Just my view not ITK
  • wow a Goonershit fan who knows feck all about anything other than the Goonershit -----what a surprise.

How much was Jack Rodwell who plays in the same position? 12m? With far more proven experience at a far higher level and sold by a top half prem team.

How much was Scott Sinclair? 8m? Again, much more experience at a higher level and in a generally more expensive position and sold by another prem team.

Not saying he's not good, but there is very little chance of us ever selling him for 10m if he signs.

Dont get me wrong, I like him a lot and hes a decent enough DM at championship level. Just think he's being a little overrated here in terms of value.

  • Scott Parker couple of good seasons. Sold for 10m.Plus the fact that transfer fees are going up.

But then you've got Alex OC who had a good season in L1 and sold for 12mill and Walcott who did the same and was sold for 5mill which could have risen potenially to 12mill if Southampton hadn't needed to make a quick few quid.
