All I am trying to do is trying to a have reasoned debate on the issues. You made a series of comments which you are perfectly entitled to do and I quite genuinely am simply asking you to clarify those comments.
Is that really so unreasonable?
I found your opening comment insulting.
I tried to make it crystal clear that the comments I made reflected my own current feelings and I expected other posters would have differerent views to mine. Perhaps it's my way of dealing with the grief I feel after recent events.
I was/am not looking for a debate. You disagree/don't get it - fine, I have no problem with that.

Getting ridiculous this. Cowarding away from the real stuff by leaving us something most teams expect, their captain signing a contract. No need to post saying it will be today if it's now going to be a week
You would rather have Chris Powell in charge and be in Division one , you are not a Charlton fan you are a Chris Powell fan. When he gets his next management job , which i am sure he will , you should go and support that club
In Division 1 with backing and a long-term plan and values. Rather than a feeder club and escaping relegation by a lucky point. Who is to say we wouldn't have avoided relegation anyway?
It wasn't really the old organic Charlton we knew when we went and purchased all the new players, including quite a few of the best in League One for a total cost of undisclosed fees a couple of years back.
Yep, it made us happy following them including the hiring of a club legend who chose and gelled them but some could say how we managed to be the Chelsea of League One on Rochdale's budget.
Unfortunately, the money went and so did any hope of serious progress and entertainment.
As much as I think that Chris Powell was treated badly, if the new era offers at least one of these I'll be happy.
There is no real answer to this argument as it's down to opinions - I feel his training and tactics were failing... until you get to the end, you can't say something has failed. Training and tactics don't require investment. Our football was poor and our goals are way too few. In this respect, he failed, as his time had ended. Just my view..
I think you're missing the point. I believe we could have been say 5th in the table & Powell would have still got the sack, if he didn't want to operate, as RD said.
Powell was offered a contract, but wouldn't go along with what was required, so was sacked.
I feel very sorry for Chris, but there could be no other outcome.

Hold up, this could be a comms team decision. And next week could mean Monday!

Of course I am a Charlton fan you imbecile. What a pathetic thing to say. Would you not support the club in league 1 then? I will support them whatever league we are in
I would trade all these other things we apparently represent for premiership football.
That is depressing. Charlton is (should be?) an expression of our community and values as a club, more than simply what league we play in. I remember the Premiership years, and they were far less entertaining than the past 3 for me personally.
I want players from the community, who grew up here and went to the same schools as us, who love the club and the area and want to see it develop.
I would trade all these other things we apparently represent for premiership football.
If the things that CAFC represent (whatever they are) don't matter to you and you only want Premiership football, wouldn't you be better off choosing another club to support - one that is more likely to satisfy your desire? I suspect that years of frustration lie ahead of you if all you want is to see us back in the Premiership.
I would trade all these other things we apparently represent for premiership football.
Therein lies the obvious split between supporters
That could also depend on when somebody started supporting the club. For me we were division 2 (old style) when I started and bounced into div 3 so the prem years were a bonus. It'd be great to think we could nail down a place in the prem in some ways but I'd happily settle for a stable Championship club who maybe had the odd push/season in the prem. Probably saying that because of the god awful mess we've gotten ourselves into over the past few years and surprised about it too, because I'd hoped we'd learned lessons from the past.
When we last went up into the prem it was not off the back of a load of money being spent it was a slow process of building a team. Once we there money was spent. We were awful last Sunday.
I think a LOT of fans are a bit sceptical about Duchatelet, I am. A lot of this is borne out of the players being brought in, seemingly not to Powell's liking. If we stay up I will not think his sacking of Powell has been vindicated. I think Powell was hard done by, but can see why he was outed. I DO NOT THINK THIS BOARD WILL BRING SUCCESS TO CHARLTON ATHLETIC
For me it is not really about the manager / coach but the quality and investment on the pitch in key areas. Under Powell or Riga with a decent right midfield and striker, Charlton would be scoring goals and be mid table.
(I know that some may post that they have tried, are trying, but it is not happening yet, and where is plan B and Plan C if the main strikers they want have not worked out ?
I understand that posters on ITTV mostly did not like Chris Powell and on CL mostly did. I find the concentration on the manager / coach situation overshadows the 50ft elephant in the room which is the lack of quality and investment on the pitch.
Many on ITTV has turned to largely uncritical support for RD as he removed Chris Powell. I can understand that they are pleased but why has this removed any kind of critical thinking ? I know ITTV is getting some PR snippets of good things to come but does that mean that the site has to be unquestioning of the strategy ? Or pointing out of something very obvious.
There may be a mid to long term plan. The news on the Academy plans is very welcome. The short term RD strategy is definitely shaky. A need for more quality upfront is something that is clear to all ?
All Charlton supporters want to see goals, and additional quality added up front. It would be great if Charlton supporters to come together to encourage Roland to bring a decent striker (and winger if possible) in the last 2 weeks of the emergency transfer window.
Good God, this is I know a 'fans' forum to discuss BUT come on, yes Chris Powell was sacked, sone say unfairly some have been calling for him to go for quite a while. I did like Chris P, but I don't just think it was down to 'the new regime' lack of funds' etc etc I personally think the style of football we played was a mixture of three coaches (we all know their names) It is quite obvious looking at our last two team selections there was a difference of opinions. Who knows, maybe it was best for our club for him to move on? One thing for sure we will NEVER know, so let's all just look forward, a new chapter, who knows if we survive this season (which I think we will) and add to the squad during the summer. With JR getting to know our club better and things start turning around this subject will definitely be forgotten. Yes we have loyal fans but we are the same as any other club......FICKLE!!! COYR....
For me it is not really about the manager / coach but the quality and investment on the pitch in key areas. I am hopeful in seeing passing football that translates from the Academy to the First Team. The key problem in the short term that a decent striker is needed up front.

All Charlton supporters want to see goals, and agree that additional quality is needed up front. Charlton fans should be uniting together to encourage Roland to bring a decent striker (and winger if possible) in the last 2 weeks of the emergency transfer window. It could make all the difference.
I suppose ITTV have to be pro board at the moment, Powell is not there now!
It is not a Riga vs Powell thing. It is not a CL vs ITTV thing. Or a pro or anti RD thing. There are no 100% views on each of the websites and posters have different opinions.
Charlton supporters should be respectful of eachother's views on the sites and cut back on any personal insults or mass stereotyping. It happens on CL and definitely happens on ITTV. Its not right. I understand that this partially the style and the Lord of the Rings / Lord of the Flies different moderation policies. I understand that some on ITTV are pissed off at being moderated off the CL site but why expend any energy thinking about CL at all ? I just don't get it.
We're all Charlton supporters. There is room for both sites / sides of opinion. The next 3 to 6 months will show which direction the club is headed in and whether the PR trails given to ITTV have any legs on them.
About supporter activism, if there was no supporter activism then Charlton Football club would not exist. Some may not want to get involved with that but why the attacks on those that want to get some questions answered ?
There is room for all kinds of involvement and different levels of attendance at the club. From those that live abroad, or have family or work responsibilities and can't see every game to the supporters that see every game. To those that have time or the inclination to attend a bunch of meetings or not. All are proper Charlton.
We're all Charlton supporters. It is time for a bit of unity.

Not totally. There is some difference of opinion on there. Why has the removal of the manager, (which should have been done in January when RD arrived at the club) equate to a total approval uncritical approval of RD and application of rosy tinted glassess. There is not a massive difference between before and after. The problems of a lack of a right midfield and striker is still there.
It is not about being oppositional for the sake of it to RD, Powell, Riga, ITTV or CL. We're not Powell supporter, Jose Riga or Roland Duchatelet supporters, we are Charlton supporters first and foremost.

Yes we were bottom under Powell's management but that's because RD wasn't supporting him.... Then RD sells two of our best players...!!!
Nothing is more important than Liege.
