As usual @PL54, it looks like you've uncovered something that no one else thought of, including Powell, nor anyone at the LMA. Good job! Right up there with some of your all time great comments.
Go on, please give me my top 5.
You've already replied to that once mate, with "Tetchy".
Have you spent 4 hours thinking up a better reply just to come back and give it a second go or something?

Come on now, don’t be prissy.
Powell argued with his boss and lost. This will happen all day every day up and down the country.
No it won't PL54 not like this, not in football. The boss e mailed Powell to tell him what team to play on Sunday. Powell, as a manager, refused. The boss sacked him. I understand that you see it differently, but for me, it is deeply disturbing.

Is that because we were on the television and he wanted to put players in a shop window in order to make money from them?

I'm not getting involved mate, I just thought I'd join in with the general Charlton Life atmosphere and make a dick-ish comment - was feeling a little left out!
I get both sides of the argument though. Even the "He told his boss where to go, his boss did the same back" argument isn't quite as clear cut though.
I'm a Developer, and currently I'm the only developer at my company. Now if my boss sat looking over my shoulder and said "Do it my way, I own the company and I pay your wages.", I would most likely:
- Try and explain that, actually, I know what I'm doing and there are reasons behind my decisions
- Continue doing my thing anyway
- Begin packing my things up and looking elsewhere
Perhaps if I was working at a development company where my boss understood my job then I would take what he had to say on board. But why should I let someone who doesn't have a clue about my job dictate the way I do it?
Same for Powell. He's the only manager at the club, was the only one doing the UEFA license and had his own specialist position. Whereas someone who was clueless about the subject at hand (albeit an expert in his field, Electronics) felt he could dictate the decisions being made.
In the past I've left jobs for similar reasons, and I'm surprised Powell kept at it so long. I can completely agree with the whole "well it's hardly a surprise though, it's a new owner with a reputation for this - and Powell pissed him off"; it may not be a surprise but it certainly isn't acceptable.

When an employee is told by their boss to do something they don't agree with there are 3 simple options:
1 do it 2 don't do it and get sacked 3 resign
As I say, I appreciate the sentiment - and generally it holds true; but not when you're working under someone who doesn't have a clue about the subject at hand.
You need to be allowed to do your job, and Powell wasn't allowed to do it. I think that is the crux of this issue - and I agree with you in that the real issue isnt that Powell was sacked; as you've said - he didn't follow instruction from a superior. Simple outcome to a simple situation.
The real issue is that Powell wasn't given the freedom to do his job - ergo he was essentially sacked anyway for all intents and purposes. All that happened Monday is that it became official.
Roland seemingly had no interest in allowing Powell to do his job, this is underlined by the appointment since. This really is a concern for Charlton, as it casts questions over the people that may come in in the future and a shadow over the freedom that our staff have.
If its negative I hope Powell delays until after the Millwall game. Don't really want a lot of dirty laundry being thrown around just before one of the biggest games left in our season.

I think it is clear that the issue between RD and CP was one of the scope of CP's role. Beyond that some people have said that RD was denying CP the freedom to pick the team, but your statement above is the most specific one I have seen about that. Do you have evidence for what you have said or was it not meant to be taken as factual?

Yes and at our cost and embarrassment!
you cannot answer your own questions Seth, you will make a mistake one day with your logins and get found out, it is only the complicity of the site owner that lets you get away with it now, try not to make it too obvious in future, wait until someone who has been on here a long time backs you up. Though that could be a long wait, as most are playing PR games behind the scenes whilst trying to appear neutral, don't be fooled.

Do you actually believe this nonsense you're spouting about Seth?
I'm not saying I agree wholeheartedly with everything that he's said, but I do have the maturity to understand that people have differing opinions - and that others have opinions in common. That's pretty much the beauty of a site like this.

There have been numerous statements from a number of people in the footballing world that are close to Powell, and from people on here, that have made it clear that RD told Powell who to pick on Sunday or be sacked. Anyways, lets wait for the statement.

No he doesn't. He's just trying to wind Seth up. He's best ignored.
Shouldn't have thought so. Constructive dismissal is when they make your working conditions unbearable so you resign (and hence aren't eligible for a pay-off). Powell was sacked, so it doesn't apply.
