  • I played in the Leeford team the year below Lee Power, Steve Rocastle and Neil Smith and in the same one as Anthony Barness. I think Bennett, Ansah etc may have played for Lethbridge?
  • I'm sure all this crap wouldn't of started to creep out the woodwork had we won today....

Neil Smith, that's him - Barry's son. I was a bit part centre half for that team - having previously played for Lethbridge. Don't remember any of those playing for either though, but I could be wrong.

Couple of fellas I played with at Lethbridge got put away for a series of assaults/rapes soon after. Head cases.

Barry managed the Leeford team didn't he? Neil was a good player, now asst manager at Bromley. So you'll remember Dick Adams then..?
  • I lived on the same council estate as Andy Ansah in Lewisham as a young kid, he was a couple of years older than me but I used to knock about with his younger brother.

I am pretty sure that he and Carl Leaburn played for the same junior team, I think it was Leeford Athletic?

Falcons in Sydenham, used to play against him as a kid.

What crap, no one will say anything.

Not impressed with Ansah at a all. Apparently CPs friend but then why tweet something which obviously would cause rumour and panic. Would have been better for him to keep his mouth shut rather than cause all this speculation. Nice one Andy.
Like a child bragging that he knows a secret but refuses to tell people what it is...

Yeah, Barry was the manager. Spurs fan I think, although maybe that was just because Neil was on their books at the time.

I remember Dick Adams. Odd man. Weren't there some "stories" about him doing the rounds? (There were stories at the time, but I thought I heard something a bit more serious a few years later. Could be wrong though.)

The crap being all the rumours that are starting to generate. Have a read round the different threads. You'll get a flavour of the crap in describing.
  • Perhaps there was some upset that not a single network player started today.....perhaps some of the network players are none too happy about being on the bench & this is filtering back.

  • If Ansah is such good friends with CP has anyone thought that maybe Powell has asked him to put something out. ( not that he's really said anything yet) - Politics . Just a thought.
  • the football today was dire, no wonder people like Ansah start threads like this. he is cp's mouthpiece, cp is worried about the future, probably why he ignored the fans at the end.
  • Not sure what Ansah means by this. My guess? Powell picked the team he wanted and there was some resentment to it either by RD or the new players. Powell's team didn't turn up on the day so his position is much weakened.
  • I was on the pitch before the game, when the players first got to the ground and came onto the pitch. They all seemed in a good mood, laughing and joking with each other.

I seriously doubt that RD knows the names of any of our players including those from "the network". He hardly ever attends any matches and has certainly not seen us play.

Nah, wasn't Leeford. Lee Power played for Leeford, but not those two as far as I know. David Rocastle's brother also played for them though, as did a fella who went on to play for gillingham, (I think).
Lee Power! That's right, he was a bit of a legend in local circles as I recall as someone who was going to "make it" and, of course, he did.

Dick Adams - there's a blast from the past, hadn't heard his name for years!

Falcons! Wow, had not heard of that name for years either, a few of my mates over that side of town used to play for them I think.

Much more fun thinking back to those days when I was a podgy bench-warmer at Riverside (are they still going?) than lamenting our current plight.

    That's exactly what I thought.

Lots of rumours. Not sure if any were true.

You'll remember Gary Daley aswell? Played left back for Leeford. I used to jump over the wall to Guy's Hospitall playing field with Lee and Gary to have a kick about

Lee is now chairman of Swindon Town!
  • Crap, bullshit and social media politics. If Mr Powell was half the man I thought he was an apology to a fantastic away following and all those in pubs, clubs and homes should be the minimum. I shall not hold my breath, seriously hacked off with yet another roll over and white flag performance.

I am not exactly Tom Jones but Lee doesn't look like he has aged all that well....

Yeah, I remember Gary - he was Palace! We were in the same class at school (along with Lee).

Lee came to Charlton with me a couple of times. Also saw Gary down the Valley not long after we moved back.

    Small world.

my thoughts entirely, the fact he didn't do it after the game says bucket loads. but don't let anyone tell you he isn't the man of the people, his PR team (Ansah included) tells us.

Indeed, he was always a sickeningly chisel-jawed good looking b'stard when he played!
  • quick, change the subject away from cp. still haven't eaten that humble pie from before, doubt I will ever have to.
  • quick, change the subject away from cp. still haven't eaten that humble pie from before, doubt I will ever have to.

The thread title is "Andy Ansah" which has led to a few of us reminiscing about Lewisham football.

    That alright with you?
  • no, it is about AA's post, his PR on behalf of CP, nothing to do with Lewisham football, if it was then that would have been the main subject. AA is CP's mouthpiece, that is what is being talked about, no need to change the subject, start another thread if you want about Lewisham football. I find his comments, straight from CP, a bit slimey/PR shite, is it ok to talk about that here? or did you want to change the subject again?
  • Oh come on Steve Dowman, this place is the home of thread drift. They're enjoying a bit of reminisence, so why assume they're trying to divert attention from the twitter thing?
  • because it is too unpalatable to their view of the Dear Leader to think he may have anything remotely PR about him. it sucks, at least Parky said it as it was, didn't rely on PR through mates, cowardly behaviour.
