Okay, I'm a devious cynical old git and expect everyone else to have a similar attitude. But presumably it is entirely coincidental that the S/T price is held until 9th April and the cup semi-finals are on 12/13th April. So is it just me who wonders if the restriction to be placed on buying a semi-final ticket (if we get there obviously) will be "must have bought a season ticket for 2014/5"?

Slightly synical no ? If they have to bribe people to Wembley, we may as well give up now

Well, I did say I was! But the Wembley bit is easy: the inducement would be to sell S/Ts.
If we get to the semi we'll get about 35000 tickets probably. When did we last sell that many? Don't think there will be an availability issue. On the other hand of we get to the final the allocation will be much less after the FA dish out all the jollies and then the fun will start.
So, it seems I can either renew our three season tickets for the seats we've had for a decade or so and pay £650, or move across the gangway and pay £480 - saving myself £170 (or about 25%).
And three people in the block to the left of me could do the same and save themselves £315 (or about 40% - from £795 to £480) by moving along.
I love my seat and chatting to the people around me, but when you look at it like that I'd be crackers to stay put. Particularly as all three seats have exactly the same "facilities" in terms of the same khazi's, queues for food, etc. and you're watching the same game from more or less the same vantage point.
I think they seem to be relying on us all being creatures of habit and it being "easier" to just renew, but if I'm going to move then you can bet your life others are, and that's a hell of a drop in income that needs to be made up from somewhere.

Could it be the case that making the season tickets cheaper they are hoping they get more people through the turnstiles to buy hotdogs, beers and pies at a ridiculous price?

There must be a plan somewhere.
I don't doubt that's the plan, to attract new people, but if your existing people all moved to the cheaper areas then you'll need to sell a lot more season tickets just to earn the same dough.
As I said, I guess they are relying on people not moving and taking a chance with a new seat they might not like, but it's a pretty big flaw i the "plan" in my view.
I could never previously see myself moving from my existing seat. But that's a lot of dough to be saving.
Maybe the board are fearing the worst and this might equalize the sales. If they are going to take the a hit they would rather on ticket price than ticket sales.
Get in quick chaps before they realise and change it! How can they charge twice as much to sit in the same viewing position at one end of the East versus the other? Wouldn't have happened if Airman had still been employed. Own goal.
For me, the main issue at this point is as Chris Powell perfectly puts is 'footballing issues'. If we are relegated and Roland strips the team of quality and replaces with sub standard players from the network then, I won't renew. If Roland shows ambition (not taking my loyalty for granted) and invests in the team then I will renew.
With this take over I do not believe Valley Gold holds value any more, personal opinion and not directly season ticket related (almost). Money we as fans pumped into it was to fund our club to help create/develop good players for us to see, Roland's job is just that now in a much larger scale.. except the money that's made from them goes in his pocket. Going to take a few years to see his plans exactly, and I'll give him that.
Regarding the ST's, we'd find a way to moan whatever the pricings but there's some key mistakes in that format, the ground is going to look ridiculous at some of these games, people bunched around the cheap tickets, the north upper, and the expensive west and a few others scattered about. Atmosphere could go either way but I would guess this may go nearer to killing it.

Remember that a working figure for the profit on ancillary sales is £1 per spectator. Even if you doubled or trebled that, and you won't, it's not going to offset the difference in ticket revenue.

Thanks, but it doesn't need to be personalised to me. There are plenty of other people who would have pointed out the flaws in this based on experience.
The only thing that I like the sound of so far is the plan for Category A for the Academy. Going for Category A does not mean that Roland does not intend to run the club as primarily a league one standard with the occasional Championship appearance. Charlton should be aiming for the premiership initially and the funding gained can support Charlton as a functioning Championship club. I ain't seen any sign of that yet.
I will not be complaining this season my 3 season tickets cost £415/285/100 next season they are priced at £250/180/100 saving of £270 why would I not renew?

Of course you would, but don't except a side challenging next season, if Season tickets revenue is down by £1m, as people are trying to save money by moving to other cheaper seats.
If the club wanted to entice more people than drop the price by £25 for an adult/students/Seniors. £10 for under 18's and left the price as it was for the under 11's.
By having different prices in different blocks will backfire for the club's finances.
As an existing VIP Season ticket holder I am wondering where all the incentives have gone? More than happy that others will save but feel a bit hard done by if I am honest.
Well I'm gobsmacked. I had an east stand block D ST last year. Didn't renew this year. It would have cost 475 or 525 depending on when I'd have renewed. I've been paying as I go this year sItting in block k of the west upper. I've just bought a ST for the seat I currently pay 24 or 28 quid for depending on colour of game for £250!!!! Even the girl who sold it to me couldn't believe it and had to check it out with two others. That's cheaper than watching Dartford. Goodness knows what the strategy is but it saved me and my mate from dithering around with the should we shouldn't we debate in the summer! Bargain!
I've been trying work out what a season ticket in the west/upper west with entrance to one of those lounges would cost...anybody know if its actually published by charlton ?...
Just wondering if you book on line can you actually pick your row and seat for season ticket or do you just pick the block and they sort the row and seat out?

I think on line you can just specify block. I phoned and specified my seat. Front row!
Was pleased to realise that I'm paying £100 less than the people 8 seats away from me. However, just noticed that if I shuffle along a bit further I can save another £100. Decisions, decisions.

Sure, the stadium plan is a bit messy, but come on!
