We Simply CANNOT lose on Sunday...

Middlesborough had players we could only dream of and we should have beaten them at The Valley in the first game. The Blackburn game was a bad result, but we were one of the crappiest sides in the division that season - we couldn't even beat Watford who finished bottom, and Blackburn finished 10th. Losing those games was a disappointment, but I don't think there was any shame.

We did lose to Wycome at home in the League Cup quarter final in 2007, whcih was pretty shocking, but we did knock Chelsea out of the competition at Stanford Bridge the same season - sometimes the underdog wins.

Anyway you are right, we have lost a fair few big games, but we have also won a few. I wasn't at Blackburn as I was on holiday, but I was at Middlesborough and, in my view, the players turned up for that game but we were undone by JFH and that Aussie striker, who's name alludes me, that had played at Leeds (not harry Kewell).

    Viduka?
    Bless you !

  • A win on Sunday leading to a Cup Final win against Sunderland. Wouldn't that be nice?

After penalty shoot out that is.

  • Perhaps wrong thread but I just got a call from my general manager that there's some extra work waiting for me to do on Sunday afternoon....(kick-off 8pm local time) If she doesn't let me go before 5pm, I'm prepared to say this to her:

"Look, there's this live football match that I've been looking forward to for two weeks. It's Charlton, the club I support. You may have never heard of them but just think if it was our national team playing in the World Cup quarter-final. This match is literally MY World Cup quarter-final. Whatever remaining work I have to do, please just let me leave it for tomorrow."

    I

Don't bother with that. Just say that you feel sick. It's a Sunday ffs: do you really need an excuse to leave?

Thank you. The thing is, that already happened last month - there was a meeting on Saturday and I was sick so I told my general manager and stayed at home. Anyway, I'm feeling positive this time because my vice general manager, who is a big football fan, will also have to come to the office on Sunday. He knows there's a Charlton game I simply can't miss and will surely give me some support then. Thanks again :-)
  • I guess it would be inappropriate to mention that those bar stewards at the BBC have scheduled a film at 21:15 tonight on BBC3 called "Blades of Glory"?
  • I've been going since 78 so have seen a fair few ups and downs but have a horrible feeling I'll be walking out after the match more dissapointed than I've ever been.

    I fucking knew it.
