So from this press conference we have heard directly from the four most important people involved in the future of the club that we will invest in our academy, replace the pitch ASAP, not move away from our home, there are ongoing negotiations to extend Powell's contract and the owner will aim to bring in decent players from all over Europe in a way that will not make our club go into the red. And people are somehow unhappy? Bloody hell.
Words are cheap and there appears no plan for the short term = relegation this season due to lack of investment/good loans. Jeez how many of our fans don't get this!
We do not have to take a step back to take two forwards. Selling our best players and replacing them with not good enough foreign mercenaries does not get the job doe:(
I couldnt disagree with you more selling best players who dont want to be there and are out of contract was necessary to cash in a little and would rather have players who want to be here and working hard to try and keep club up then a player who is looking for his next payday and regardless of going down or not knows they will stay in this league. At least players who have come in know that its up to them to keep their club up and not be playing League One next year.
And who are you to judge 1 that they are not good enough when you havent really seen them play and that they are mercenaries as far as you know they could be paid half what an english player is taking home
This wasn't a press conference for the fans, this was a press conference, for the national/local/belgian press that might be interested. People who are "disappointed" honestly need to get over themselves.
You're right. It was one of the most amazing conferences in the history of the modern press. Made Nev's "peace for our time" seem like a bland utterance.

if you think press conferences are anything other than boring soundbites then you need to go to a few.
It all seems a bit of a waste of time to me to be honest, what have we learnt including the press? I still think RD is buying himself some time with CP and it concerns me that RD said "he hopes CP is happy with the players he has provided although he does not have to play them.
It clearly shows CP is not choosing who he wants to buy and that is dangerous when the owner meddles with team affairs.

None of which is actually new news...
I don't think it had to be though. This was a situation where the decision makers sat down in front of the press and laid out positive plans directly. No Daily Mail article or second hand Twitter quote claiming to be ITK, the actual people made pledges that are in line with the ethos of the club and are very essential for the club's progression. I think it showed us as fans a hell of a lot more respect than the previous lot, which ultimately amounted to 'there is a five year plan, except there isn't. Who ever said there was a five year plan? Also, bye'.
I agree it is positive that they are more open in communicating with the fans, and that there is a long-term vision focussed on youth. I just feel that there is a massive naivety in not taking the prospect of relegation seriously enough (perhaps the reserve £4M is too much of a comfort zone?) leading to a real lack of urgency. We drifted in to losing Yann, it seems, whilst Powell's future continues to drift. All the while, we are losing ground on our rivals who have been strengthening and picking up points. In the end, actions speak louder than words...
1. CP has signed a new contract 2. I understand that the squad has weaknesses and I will be making sure that we strengthen it with enough quality to ensure we stay up.
As I didn't hear either, I'm actually less optimistic about our future than I was this morning!
The last owners barely said a word about their plans/intentions and they were criticised by plenty on here. RD holds a press conference which let's face it, he didn't have to do, and unbelievably some are criticising him for it and saying it's not enough. Some of our fans are never happy.

Do you think its enough? All we appear to have learnt is the new players he has bought in are not as good as he first thought. If this is the case then the squad is weaker than it was when he took over.
I don't really think people for the most part are moaning about the lack of major news, more bemusement as to why this was arranged after the 'meet the board' video which was pretty much the same.
Did anyone think we were going to hear the truth? Like:
"CP - don't think our squad is good enough to keep us in the Championship but can't get any f*****g players who want to join us in a relegation scrap and it doesn't help if the owner is forcing sales on me at the wrong time. I just hope the players RD's has given me are good enough to get us out of the hole the previous management left us in. RD may have a long term plan but my f*****g job's on the line and he's playing hard ball on my contract, so who knows where all this will end up."
For me, unless obviously not the case, I just accept that everyone at the club, including players, are working their balls off trying to make sure we don't get relegated. How much "urgency" is being applied has nothing to do with what's said at a press conference - management can't give the impression they are running scared or not unified so who can judge anything from a press conference. Of course the seriousness of our situation will be underplayed in public.

I'm not criticising Chris, i just don't really see the objective / gain when it is a repeat of what they did a few weeks ago. People can say 'its to meet the press', well i'm sure those guys would have been just as happy receiving those quotes in a release. And if it was just for the press and not supporters, why have the club been flogging it so much this week?
A lot of what RD has done so far just doesn't make sense (to me).
Amazed by all these comments, he's dammed if he does and dammed if he doesn't. Everyone thinks as he's had a month he should WHAT THEY WANT. Lets just wait and see. Kayserasera.

I don't see how you can claim Kermorgant didn't want to be here. OK things haven't worked out him staying but he has stated he wanted to be at CAFC.

We put a contract in front of him and he didn't sign it.

I hope everyone won't be saying the same thing about Powell in a few months.

New loan singing from Upjest Doza? Is he tall enough?

Time will tell
When will they get that right?
“All in all we will see what the result is. Life in football is a life with compromises.
“I have learned in my life to understand the frustration of fans.”
Two things that I wanted to hear:
1. CP has signed a new contract
2. I understand that the squad has weaknesses and I will be making sure that we strengthen it with enough quality to ensure we stay up.
