Most depressed you've felt about the team / club ?

Don't know about others, but starting to feel worse than the other 'lean times' we have had for me.

I don't 'hate' the manager, though its not working.

I don't 'hate' the new people owning / running the club because theyve only been here two minutes, though I'm very sceptical of they're strategy.

I don't 'hate' the players, new or old, because they've effectively been tasked with gelling as a new side instantly.

So its not currently anger, just depressive exasperation as our situation seems to week by week get more and more miserable.

Am I alone feeling like this ?

No, there is so much wrong and so little right at the minute that it is difficult to be positive.
  • Can I ask smudge, why are sceptical of there strategy, I quite like there strategy.
  • Well I wasn't around in the 80s and being kicked out of the Valley, so Id be interested to see how fans from those times feel our current predicament compares.
  • I think a lot of people might be disappointed CP isn't going to be what they hoped and wanted him to be.
  • The lack of goals is really hurting. Even when we've been crap in the past we haven't had this horrible inability to score. The fact is if you can't score you can't win and it gives me this feeling of total helplessness. Matches come and go and it feels like we may as well not have been in them for the impact we've had. It's not for lack of effort either, but that makes it feel more desperate

Kind of agree with this, I also think there's a lot of "what ifs" because I honestly think he'd do well if backed.

I'll caveat that with a good manager should be able to do well with what he has but do we think there is more he could get out of this season's squad?

  • I think the hardest thing about us being this shit is that palace are flying and looking likely to do the impossible and stay up
Remember it could be worse the scum could be doing a lot better
As for us losing Kermo and Stephens was a kick in the teeth
It' ll need a miracle to stay up but finishing 9th was a miracle last time so they do happen!
  • Totally agree. 2008/09 was the worst ever but this feels the same. Cannot bear to go back to League 1 again, it will set the club back all over again. Saturday nights are so painful I wish I didn't care so much about this club.
  • Definitely the worst I've ever felt .

  • He was a clever PR move by the last owners stevie. I have not got brilliant patience at the best of times but sordell broke me today. He can probably retire now on thw back of a good season at Watford and a big move to Bolton.

What hurts this time is jot a lack of effort, most of the players work ethic is great. Just a lack of shine. Not helped by selling two of the shiniest players we had. Losing to the dumb brums who I don't like full stop is bad, losing when we were not the worse side of two pretty poor sides is cruel.

The midfield is chris Powells boggle. Do you stick the two youngsters in the middle together or sacrifice one (like today) to balance experience a bit?

It doesn't feel as bad as he last days of pardew but it deels a lot more teeth snappingly frustrating.
  • I've 'suffered' through worse times than this .. I am hoping against hope that we can pull out of this dive in time .. Yeovil have caught up nil points, Barnsley 1 point, Millwall nil points . we can still do it .. IF POWELL WILL ONLY GET HIS SELECTIONS AND TACTICS SORTED OUT
  • I feel down because relegation is a probability but no better or worse than any other time we've been relegated.

However, I do feel more optimistic about the club in the medium term - RD (by all accounts) has a £4 mill reduction in price if/when we do go down so one would think he has a contingency plan - therefore we will be strong in League 1.

Not ideal, but there is some hope.
  • I feel exactly like that too. You are not alone. But at least its not as bad as the things that happened in 1984 and playing at parkhurst. Defo the worst since then however.
  • Don't feel anywhere as bad as 2008/09 yet, but if things don't turn around soon then it might get that way.
  • I feel much worse than when we went down under pardew/parky & the reason behind that is Powell.
I think the majority of us on here and as supporters want to see him succeed and turn this round, but as every week goes on the chance if that happening reduces and for what ever reason that is it hurts more than before.

Because five weeks ago we just probably needed a little bit of tinkering, a whole month of a transfer window to settle the management, settle the squad, and boost it with just a couple of experienced signings. Nothing outrageous, just a boost to the squad with some proven championship level.

Instead, the management uncertainty has allowed to continue and you could see the impact that has had, two of our proven championship level players have been shipped out, and we've brought in a load of unknowns that even if they are up to it, will take a while to integrate and find their way. All this again was done at the last possible minute.

If they didn't want to back their manager, they should have replaced him.

You tell me mate what bits of that you quite like or what I've failed to take on board.
I like the way they seem to put the onus on signing young players and this doesn't just have to be youth from this country it can be from abroad as well.

  • The owners have taken the club backwards and make no mistake this is a relegation side with the heart and soul ripped out of the spine of the side

You can't expect to replace quality like Yann and Stephens with cheap foreign replacements and get away with it

I maintain RD got us relegated on 31/1/13

    100% agree.
  • I'm so depressed I went to the local shop to get myself some ice cream, so I could drown my sorrows in a chocolate mess, and then managed to lock myself out of my house with no keys and jacket. :(
  • This isn't as bad as when we went down last time. We were terrible then, this is just silly.

But is that really what we need at this exact point in time? That's something you do early in the summer to have a good run at getting them up to speed.

We are in a relegation battle with more than half our games to be played on a muddy bobbly cowpit. A few technically skilled foreign kids just don't seem what we need at the mo.

Is give anything for an arsehole like a Karl Henry right now throwing their weight around in the middle and giving us some fighting balls. if Stephens was still next to someone like that, great. I'd have loved to have seen Yann partnering Reza up front, that to me looked a partnership that really could have worked.

What we currently have won't imo.
I totally agree with these sentiments, but we are where we are and only have the players that we have NOW .. It seems patently obvious that RD either has no money to spend on CAFC or what money he does have, he will not spend on CAFC, otherwise, a few tough old pros would have been brought in .. I repeat what I wrote when RD first came in, CAFC will become no more than a nursery for Standard Liege, the only club which has a chance to make some serious money in Euro competitions .. our academy and our need for players, any players ! as 'trialists', is what attracted him to buy the club .. plus, a nice chunk of London 'real estate'
  • Really hope you are wrong lincs
  • I saw lots of positives today. Five weeks ago I thought we were nailed on for relegation. Today I saw lots of quality, Reza, AA, Poyet, cousins, and enough to make me think if we jel and get a couple in we can survive. Will be close because we are running out of games but I'm positive.

owners taken club backwards from certain administration? whats worse than that? just closing the club down? come on if RD hadnt came in we would have -10 more points and sold more players than yann and dale
  • Really hope you are wrong lincs

I also hope that I'm wrong .. if we are relegated, this current bunch of demoralised and out of form players, minus those whose contracts are not renewed and those who are sold on, will find life as tough in the third strata as they are finding it in the second .. however, we aint 'dead' just yet
  • Staring relegation in the eye
    Lowest scorers in the league
A manager who we all love but seems way out if his depth
    No Yann
A new owner with a habit for collecting football clubs
Racist chanting AT OUR OWN PLAYERS!

Yeah, I would say things are pretty bad right now.
