Get your facts right before you make a comment

  • I'd definitely prefer an unknown Jonny Foreigner to most of the (realistic) suggestions in this thread.
  • Chris Powells son (if he has one??)

Failing that, someone who sees Sordell for the waste of football boots that he is.......................

Dougie Freedman it is then ;-)

  • Like other people have said, IF SCP is to be replaced, his successor will be none of the above, it will be someone we've never heard of who will coach charlton by way of being groomed as being the next standard liege coach. Anyone who thinks it will be a big name appointment is smoking the same stuff as the people who think we're going to be back in the premiership in the next ten years. IMO!
  • It's Monday and I'm feeling positively that what appears to be a ruthless no bullah*t owner in RD, he has not sacked Powell yet and even after that awful defeat.

It means he is working with Powell and he himself believes in his capabilities.

It's looking drab now, but maybe, maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel?

Me too. I really hope we somehow stay up as I believe next season we will have a really young, fresh, exciting team, playing good football on a nice pitch....
Hamer, Solly, Wiggins, Cousins, Poyet, Reza, Piotr, AA to name a few..

By the way, we miss Solly & Wiggins so much offensively.

Solly and or Wiggins would make a big difference. Lennon should start the next game at left back assuming Wiggins will still be unavailable.
  • If he is going to stick with Powell why hasn't he gave him a new deal?! or is he waiting on his next few games?
  • Steve Kean. Has to be. KEAN IN!
  • Kean already has a job
  • Steve Gritt till May.

I thought he was in sheltered accommodation?

    That is a shame.
  • I am never going to be able to manage Powell so I would like to manage my alcohol consumption.

  • they were sold off to the Charlton tandoori when we dropped out the premier league.
  • I am still sitting here waiting for powell to be sacked by mutual consent....... is it this Monday or the Monday after that??

He is a businessman, here to make money. Apparently he gets the club for 4 million quid cheaper if we get relegated. If we go down he can get in (or give new contracts to) players and a manager on League 1 wages. He might think for a £1M outlay he can get us back up again so he's £3M in profit!!
  • Roland Duchâtelet !

It seems highly unlikely to me that someone so successful is that naive. I suspect going down is more likely to cost £3M than making him £3M even taking into account the rumoured £4M reduced purchase price.

It seems highly unlikely that someone so succesful would get rid of two / (arguably) three of your best assets when your business looks like it's going down the pan without adequately replacing them. However ..................
  • What is the obsession with changing managers! Media led in prem therefore we all go along with ridiculous merry-go-round? Does any change of manager for a struggling team ever result in improvement? Struggling teams get a very short term lift and then they are still a struggling team that either just escapes - heroes all round, or doesn't - too little too late, build for the future blah blah. Pullis, Poyet etc? Have they led their teams to safety? Are team positions markedly different than before change?
Most successful periods of CAFC history come with long term managers, Seed- Lawrence- Curbishley. AP/ID/LR? Not again thanks.

Team that changes managers regularly and does well - Chelski - strugggling? NO!

Charlton are struggling because we ran out of money and threw the baby out with the bathwater when Curbs got the hump with getting slagged for not getting to the "next level".
We have been on the up despite mismanagement at board level by people that saw the chance to get a London club into saleable shape and then take a profit. Our present plight is down to the fact that they couldn't sell at the price they wanted after the 9th place finish. That was the perfect time to go. Now RD will start again and if he's wise will leave CP at the helm.
Most managers are similar in skills terms, what breeds success is the perception of affinity they have with club and supporters, a well run club that attracts experienced players to work with club developed talent.
Lawrence and Curbs were comfortable here and probably have fond memories professionally of their time at the club, we like to think the club means something to them akin to our own feelings.
The only times to change a manager are at the end of a season and in the most rare circumstances December while the ludicrous transfer window exists. These threads cause unease around the club and discontent among supporters. All efforts should go toward team and rest of season regardless of CP man love or otherwise, assess come May. Change if necessary asap end of season. Personally CP stays.
