Who do you want to manage Charlton if its not Powell?

In my opinion Powell will probably be sacked as mutual consent by Monday night. I am a Powell supporter, and for the greater good, would see the sacking of Powell as an unwise decision, however, something has to change and if it's the manager then it's the manager.

It isn't working and its not looking like we will get results if we carry on down this path, I'm sure our current manager would even agree to an extent. Something bold has to be done.

Brian McDermott would be my number 1 choice to replace Powell.

  • If it's a UK manager,

    Malky.

Will be someone we have not heard of although personally would like Warnock.

He can try and get his record for number of promotions next season, when we're in League 1 :)
  • Malky if it's a UK manager, or even McDermott. And he may not be universally liked but you can just imagine Warnock keeping us up last ditch Redknapp style.
  • If Warnock was made Charlton manager, I would immediately buy another season ticket, just so that I could return it in disgust.

You can't 'sack someone by mutual consent'. The two are mutually exclusive.
  • Roberto Martinez

Seriously do you really think any of these managers would work under Roland?
  • Curbs???? doing a great job at Fulham isn't he
  • glen Hoddle
  • It wouldn't matter who the manager was. You can NOT sell your best 2 players and not sign appropriate replacements and expect things to turn around. I don't blame Powell for that happening. Some people are deluded if they think a new manager is going to be the answer.

The only hope we have is giving Powell the proper resources. Which he has been stripped of by the last incumbents and the new owner.

Malky would probably see Roland as a savior compared to Vincent Tan.
  • Roland will appoint someone within his empire. I have absolutely no doubt about that.
  • One betting site has Martin Jol as the favourite, made me laugh.

    Curbishley out!

  • Chris Powell every day!
  • Ferguson (Alex not Darren or Duncan)
    Fabio Cappelo
    Walter Winterbottom
    Alf Ramsey

Given his propensity to sell players out from under a manager and buy players the manager doesn't want can you see any of McDermott, Mackay or Curbs taking the job. RD needs a coach not a manager. If Chris gets the tin tack I predict we will be completely underwhelmed by the replacement
  • In no way am I saying Powell should go but if he did my list would be:

    1.Curbs
    2.Mackay
    3. Steven Pressley (working wonders at Coventry with good, local and young players from the academy)
    4.Steve Clarke
    5. Neil Warnock (only as an impact manager, not long-term.)

In a dream world: Pochettino or someone with a similar footballing philosophy, I.e. Press high, dominate possession, defend, hassle the opposition, score goals!

I don't think Powell has been treated fairly at all, and a large part of our current predicament is not his fault.

A fresh approach is needed though it has to move with the times, whether our owners are d*cks or not. We have them, and it probably requires a new manager that can see things more objectively and has not been dragged down by the disrespect our owners gave to Powell.

That's 90% on unfortunately but who knows.
  • Zola wouldn't be a bad shout, he has experience in working with owners of multiple clubs
  • It doesn't matter, whoever it is won't really be in charge, that today was not Powell's team, funny that the sub standard 3 were all awful
