I read the SLP piece on lookman and Konsa as a double bluff ... either way she wins after reading that article! If she sells them then the fans had already got used to it , and if she holds onto them then she's going to be a hero for holding onto two players who were heavily likely to be off!

That's what I thought.
PR stuff = leak the truth as rumour weeks before so that the impact is decreased.
Or classic "Yes, Prime Minister" tactics of fight to save the British Sausage that was never under threat.

No, they're just advertising the January sales with a fantastic BOGOF on talented young players that might, in a normal club, reasonably be expected to represent our future.
Basically, any player in our "squad" that looks half decent is available, with the regime happy to sell at permanent DFS style discount, just as long as the income goes to its rightful Belgian home....
As a born pessimist, I fully expect Bauer and Texeira to also leave, and I worry that Dillon Phillips is coming into form at a bad time.
Sounds like a fair deal, unfortunately. Sad that none of it will be invested back into the squad.
Agreed. Even if a small percentage of any fee was reinvested back into the squad, we can't have much confidence that it would be spent wisely or that CAFC in its present state will be an attractive proposition for the sort of players that we'd like to sign. in reality, we all know that clubs very rarely benefit from selling their best players, especially top class youngsters. To compound matters, we remain remorselessly under the yoke of Duchatelet's abject 'revolving door' strategy, which is deployed at all levels within the club (managers/chief coaches, players, staff, consultants etc.), save - unsurprisingly - for the position of his malleable CEO.
I personally think it's unlikely that Everton, or any other Premier League club, would pay £8-10 million for Lookman and then agree a loan-back deal to us. Apart from the purchaser's own needs this season (even if it's a few impact appearances from the bench), they are likely to be thinking in terms of a top Championship club for any loan, rather than subjecting Lookman to the type of 'clogging by rotation' that is fairly common in League 1. Just as we can all overstate the quality of our players because of their less able teammates, it's also easy to underestimate what Lookman could achieve in a team that could retain possession in midfield, stretch the opposition and get him on the ball in dangerous positions in the last third.
As for signing new players, I'm sure that Karl Robinson is a good salesman and ambassador for CAFC but the reality is that our reputation as a football club is at an all-time low.
Tottenham U23s v Derby County U23 Liverpool U23 v Arsenal U23 Everton U23s v Leicester City U23
Tottenham is north but since all the scouting staff are going my guess some will go to Everton/Leicester and KR will go to see his old mates at Liverpool where he was a coach.
Everton U23s? With the Lookman link maybe a loanee or two included in a deal?
Seems from that article that Karl has got himself all enthusiastic about bringing in players in January.
Talks about pulling out all the stops to watch games, driving north 'in convoy' on the hunt, Jed Wallace being a good player but not on our list. EXCITING!
Karl mate, I don't want to piss on your chips, but Slade had to fight to bring in Andrew Crofts. On a free.
It would be hard to turn down anything like the figures quoted in that article for Lookman. He's talented for sure but does he have a defined position? Those figures look like a potentially expensive punt to me.
I get the impression that Palace won't be back in for Lookman in a serious way but may well make a bid for Konsa. I believe they rate him (as a centre-half, not a right-back).

Spurs did the loan back for Dele Alli to MKD in L1
Lookman is only just 19. The PL clubs are after potential with him, not someone to slot into their 1st team. He won't be a PL regular for another 2 or 3 years.
Everton have been strongly linked with the likes of Depay and Schneiderlin from Man U in the window as well they're players for the 1st team
I hope lookman and Konsa go for as a little as possible
I think I know what you mean but I think it's skewed logic.
The less money Duchatelet pockets to offset his expenditure the more money he needs to find from other areas of the club be that playing budget or on capital projects.
I don't want RD making wads from the sale of young talent every season and reinforcing his view that his scheme can work but equally I don't want to see the club go further down the shitter with lack of funding where it's needed.

I presume that Everton U23 game was the one KR went to watch. Everton have already said (allegedly), that they want Lookman to be ready to go into their first team straight away, so perhaps KR was looking at loan replacements

She is a laughing stock amongst other CEOs and agents.
I'm not suggesting you're wrong but how do you know this as a fact?

Loan back would also be a big bonus.

She herself has said several times that she's not a liar.
We can't allow that to happen.
Now who was their manager...

Didn't a chairman of another club, fleetwood???? Openly admit this

I know he is our top scorer at the moment but Magennis, Ajose and Holmes need to pick up the slack and hopefully they'll start firing soon

Anything over £10mil is OK, but not stunning. Let the bidding war begin.

Rock and a hard place.
