JJ on talksport fighting back after Adrian Durham called for us to lose points for not getting a game on.
Said its no one fault and the groundstaff are working their socks off.
Pitch is flat with no standing water but is boggy. Reckons it will be closed season when its sorted
Well said JJ !
Let's hope that RD appreciates the hard work and extra hours the ground staff are currently putting in. Bet there's little else in their lives at present than eating, sleeping and working on the pitch. And this will probably be the case until well into Spring...
RBS "bankers "???
Wouldn't begrudge our lads a 100% bonus this year .
Nice sentiments...but of all the hidden dangers lurking in corporate due diligence, i dont think you can.claim.ignorance over something that is 60 x 100m and big brown and sticky
To be fair to MS and TJ, the reason why major money wasn't spent on the pitch, was that there wasn't any money to spend due to the parlous nature of the finances, and a lot of the blame for that has to reside on the previous owners and the mismanagement of the club netween 2006 and 2011. If we'd sold Solly last summer to pay for major pitch repairs, what would the reaction of the fans have been like?
Maybe I was a bit harsh on them but I do feel that our new owner is somewhat unlucky to arrive here and face such a big pitch crisis on day one - and £600k is obviously not a small amount of money.TJ and MS sold the club just in time....
Woukd people rather 600k was spent on a drain and some seed or a striker or Powell ?
Depends how the pitch is looking by the next game. If it's sorted, then focus on contracts. If not we'll go down if we don't have a proper pitch to play on.
So if nobody can play on the pitch as it is then let's leave it and we are guaranteed a nil nil draw for every home game. We then take our scintillating football into away games and Happy Days all round.
Or is it that we can't play on a poor pitch but others might be able to?
Silly comments about Paddy and his team. Groundsmen can only work with the tools and the budget they are given and clearly Paddy has had very little funds for the last 2 years.
Get the drainage repaired, give them a decent budget to work with and the type of pitch we are used to seeing will return.
This!
I can't believe people were blaming him for the drainage problem.I would be close to tears too if I had been working so hard for the past twenty years and still got stick from people for something that clearly was not my fault.I feel really sorry for Paddy and all the staff.Too bad our previous owners have got away with it.If I were Duchatelet,I'd probably request for a refund!I mean how can you sell something that's broken inside to others and then run away with the money? Isn't that fraudulent concealment???

That's why they were able to buy it in the first place, though.
Much debt and equity having being written off and the former directors' loans being contingent on promotion to the PL and very manageable on that basis, the real issue was that they took on a business that they were (apparently) unable to fund and which could not break even without investment they could not or did not make, including the pitch.
I believe the expression is "bit off more than they could chew".

That points to a future at The Valley, rather than on the Peninsula.
Have we now any concrete evidence that Roland actualy purchased the Valley when he bought all the shares .
Or is it that we can't play on a poor pitch but others might be able to?
I can give you 20 millions reasons which point to him purchasing the valley
