Win the oxford game draw 1 of the big guns at home , and watch the rush for tickets , all the glory hunters will come flooding back sell out at the valley etc , charltons my team and all that shit , then the stands being closed will be all forgotten .
I do hope that happens and the club then go on to say that fans with ticket stubs for the Oxford game get in for a tenner & the rest of you moaners who don't want to support the team have to pay the full ticket price of around £25 quid !!!
Strange that there is an assumption that a full west stand will look better on tv given the cameras will be staring directly at one side of an empty directors box. Can think of at least 2 vacant spaces those of us relocating can use as Man City and Chelsea embark on their quest for Cup glory...
I must be getting old. Been going for 45 years but cannot recall us playing Norwich in the cup 5 years ago. Thinking about it now didn't we lose after a replay?
Won 1 0 after draw at home, Ambrose scored, Parky's first win as manager, Jan 2009, then Sheffield United knocked us out next round. Still, our glorious run the following season made up for that disappointment...
I sit in the Upper West and am now used to switching to the East Stand for Cup games. In principle, therefore, I can see no reason why those who normally use the East Stand should object to moving on a one-off basis.
However, I suspect the closure of the East Stand will backfire if it creates excess demand for tickets in the premium areas in the Lower West, i.e. Blocks C,D, E and F (I know there's no price difference in the Lower West) and if, as a result, those who prefer these areas (and who pay more for the central blocks in the East and Upper West) decide not to bother because they can't get the seats they want.
We'll see, but given Airman's comments above the decision to close the East Stand could well turn out to be an unfortunate false economy.

And what TV coverage is this anyway? 20 seconds if we win, 30 seconds if we lose. Wowee.

interesting, as I hadn't thought about that. For cup games we ALWAYS manage to get our own seats in the East, which as mentioned above, are the premium ones as they are more central. I posted earlier that I don't like being behind a goal and so I'll want to sit in the West - just hope there are enough tickets for all us central "Eaststanders" to be able to sit in the middle of the West somewhere and not right up one end or the other.
I realise is just a one -off..............or perhaps if we don't make a fuss it wont be & may become a permanent thing.
I have a feeling that the lower west will probably be enough on this occasion, in fact there could well be as many Oxford fans as Charlton if they sell out.
As long as we win I wouldnt care if I was watching it from the Directors Box or the tower block behind the away end...

So even in the reduced circumstances of tonight they have now taken the precaution of opening the upper west. So much for the argument that the lower west and lower north were ever enough for a Saturday 3pm game.
@CAFCofficial: UPDATE: Tickets are now available from the commercial centre for seats in Blocks J,K & L of the West Upper stand for tonight's game #cafc

Love it.

It'll be a safety-led decision.
and the Voice always said that nothing captured the imagination of Charlton fans like the FA Cup...
