Just goes to show the club is a total shambles , shut the west upper and north upper like we normally do, our great club is becoming a laughing stock and the clowns who own us dont give a shit.

Was just going to post pretty much the same thoughts, it really is becoming more and more embarrassing as the weeks and months go by.

  • Seems to me a much better option than the usual one to close the north upper and thus guarantee they'll be zero atmosphere

Bit of an overreaction to closing a stand you'd think we released Solly
Let me tell u now once he is fit, and if we still have the same owners , he will be sold if anyone comes in for him , the heartbeat of the club is being ripped apart by owners who really dont care its embarassing.

The upper North will not be open. From OS (Only the lower tiers of the West Stand and North Stand will be open for home supporters)
  • Oh, ok, in that case it's a bit weird
  • Sweating the asset
  • As I posted in another thread - I was in two minds about going, as were my parents and a couple of friends, but it us now unlikely any of us will go. I like my seat in the East Stand, I've sat in the same seat since the stand opened, and I hate the view from the North Lower and the West Lower ain't much better. Plus why squeeze everyone in like sardines. Then you will get people wanting four/five seats together and they won't be able to get them. They may then even decide not to go. It also sends out the wrong message, we only expect a low crowd, we're not taking it seriously, the team won't take it seriously, why bother even coming.

Agree with Large here... Love my seat in the East Stand and hate sitting anywhere else so will probably sit this one out now (unless there is a good sign some kids will be played)
  • I'll be turning up late for the game with 4,000 companions. Will we get in, we cannot pre book tickets as we are all fictitious?

So no change to any other season then.

  • Its ok there trying to make us look like à league 1 or 2 side so thé new prospective owners what there letting themselves in for?
  • So it's ok for season ticket holders in the north upper to have to move for all the cup games, but not the flask drinking rug wearing eaststanders.

Bloody hell - is that right ? Isn't that the same configuration we used for JPT games ?
  • Thé club are taking libertés and trying to mug us off!
  • Why should i have to sit with blanket and flask brigade?
Last time i had to sit elsewhere it was so Boring!
My club should Give me choice to sit in my own seat

Floydroadfaithfull, have you ever thought that perhaps the blanket and flask brigade don't want you disturbing them, and in fact will not come because people like you turn up? Just a thought.

nope. we're being made to move an all. from the ward to the morgue that is the west stand.

If they keep shutting all the catering kiosks mate we will all be bringing flasks.
  • Lol not wrong son, they will leaving us to lock up and run the turnstyles as well.
  • Thought we had players who run the turnstile.

Why should anybody pay any money to the club at the moment when it's only going to help Jiminez and his steadily mounting debt and not to securing contracts.

I go to support the team , Beds. I would hope that most of us get off our backsides every other Saturday to do just that.

That's why I'll be attending the Cup game.

Its not often Fanny & I see eye to eye but I'm with her 100% on this one.

To me 3rd round FA Cup day is a bit special, akin to The Grand National for racegoers, a Lords Test for cricket lovers and The British Grand Prix for F1 lovers - it has a sense of tradition & I never miss a game (I even went to Northwich Victoria).

Even though Large & my parents may not be going, I will be going & taking my 10 yr old son with me too. Like large I like my seat in the East & v.unhappy that we have to move elsewhere. I don't like sitting behind a goal, esp low down in the Lower North so my only option will be the West Stand. All I can say to whoever made this silly decision (as AB has so v well put, it is not going to save the club any money) they have better be ready for a lot of disgruntled fans all squeezed together looking across to an empty stand.

The nutters really have taken over the asylum.

Don't get me wrong . I will be doing my usual 180 mile round trip to The Valley to see us struggle in the cup but i can also see why people won't bother. It's in my blood and i can't help it but i do begrudge my ticket money going to Jimenez just to pay of his debts to the like's of Denis Wise instead of giving the players new contracts.
  • The Fuck All Cup
it used to be something to get really excited about.
  • The Fuck All Cup
it used to be something to get really excited about.

The thing is, I still find it exciting. Arsenal v Spurs in the third round is exciting, the prospect of some upsets is exciting, watching the games on TV on Sunday followed by the 4th round draw is exciting.

It's just our games that aren't exciting, the manager and the club give the clear impression that this fixture is just an inconvenience for them and that's a real shame particularly since it's a very winnable fixture in a very drab season.
  • I think cp will play a strong team for this one. He knows we need a lift, a weakened side losing at home to Oxford would be the end of him

as opposed to our strongest side losing at home to them!
  • Don't recall these type of threads being started about the "madness" of previous stand closures. It's not like this is the first cup game that we've done it.

West Upper open or closed? The attendance for the League Cup game was under 5,000. The attendance for last year's FA Cup third round was under 6,700. The most you're going to get in early January for this one is 7,500 I would guess (and most of those extra will be Oxford fans). It might not be a fantastic plan but every little helps, that includes making the ground look fuller on the highlights.
