Not much of a consolation Jean, but the official photographer from the PA/empics was there, and I am sure he would have no issues with uploading any photos he took, albeit they were probably of the legends. He said he was giving the whole lot to Charlton......( as long as people do not start selling them on ebay!) I will have a look at the ones I took again and post some more, but I took mainly the legends for the trust photo library.
Paul Walsh is a bit of an arrogant knob isn't he? Or shouldn't I say that?
Say what you like Curb_it but he has every reason to be a bit cocky. He played some good football for some big clubs and played in some big games. Played with and against some legends. Like me a Plumstead boy and although only a couple of years older than me, looks 10 years younger. People call me arrogant but I think I'd be even more so if I was Paul Walsh.
It takes all sorts, for every Chris Powell there are a dozen Paul Walsh's I'd imagine.
He is in three of the photos, click on the photos and they expand....... Did not get the opportunity to photograph him on his own .... pity thought his comments about Roy Keane were a highlight!

The question was where does Deano's ego fit in relation to Paul Walsh's and Chris Powell's!

Had the pleasure of sitting with Dean & Chris at one of the POTY dos a few years back. Chris was late, so Dean held courtbon his own for a little while. Two of the nicest, most unaffected guys I have ever met. Not sure why you'd think they have elevated egos Riviera.
Have to admit I was surprised Walshie was there...don't think he's ever been particularly kind about us any time he's covered us for Sky at all.

Exactly what I was thinking, he is a local boy but has never shown the remotest interest in us as far as I am aware.
Only thing I can think of is that he was there because he came on as sub for Pompey on that famous day.
I spent a bit of time with Paul Walsh at the end of the night and found him to be a decent enough bloke. His Dad (who also attended) still has a lot of affection for Charlton and I think still lives in the area so that probably contributed to him being there.

For goodness sake! Why don't people read the thread before jumping in feet first?

He hasn't changed then.
Paul Walsh was an arrogant git at age 17.
I was at a party in Plumstead back then. I was about 18 him 17.
Door bell goes & this bloke says "Hi I'm Paul Walsh" let me in.
I'm pleased to say I told him to piss off & shut the door in his face.
Unbelieveably arrogant. I think he would have struggled to fit his head through the door in any case.
I was a fan of his until I met him that night.
I heard a story about the same time, there was a girl a year above me at school who was a real cracker, he tried the same thing with her, to which she poured a drink over his head

In terms of natural talent and technique, Walshy was one of the very best strikers we have ever had. Remember how with his back to goal outside the box he would receive the ball (excellent close control), swivel and slither past the attendant defender? Oh, for such lithe and supple athletic qualities in our strikers now....

I posted something last night but it was removed. Don't know why. I have known Covered End for over 25 years. All I said was that the way he reported the story it is CE himself that comes over as arrogant! Maybe PW was invited? Maybe he had bought the girl a present? Well we're never know as dear old CE told him to pee off and slammed the door in his face!

Actually, they were under MY table ....
...and kept shouting out " Commando " !
Could that be a clue to their identity ?
Thank goodness....

Walsh looks a bit like Capello

But ive never seen him be rude any time I've met him.
Note I didn't speak to PW he was just caught being rude to someone else.

It was NOT me who was talking about players egos!
Talk about give a dog a bad name.......
