Get Danny Green back into the fold!

If anyone knows how to fight for the club it's Danny Green, he started his career with us and was let go at 15. This boy hasn't had the run of the green but he is a fighter with natural born talent and it amazes me how Chrissy Powell continues to overlook him.

He has all the attributes for a top 10 premiership club so why are we ignoring him?

Burst of pace, can use both feet, can whip dangerous balls into the box 24/7 and works his socks off for the team.

If we have a realistic hope of promotion this year, we need Greeny back in the team. He is our ticket to the glory land that is the Barclays Premier League. If we cannot give him the time he needs, I fear a big club that can utilize his abilities like Everton, Southampton or even one of the top 5/6 will.

Come on Chris, come to your senses!

  • Do you mean rub of the green?
  • The real question here is .............. Is Green better than Wagstaff? thats what I want to know!
  • JoeE32 must be Danny Green
  • Do you mean rub of the green?

I do indeed Brendan! Fat thumbs and IPhones don't get on!
  • This is why 24 hr pub opening hours is a bad thing.
  • danny green is a league one footballer and should hopefully make his loan spell permanent. i wish him the best of luck he is not championship, nowhere near it.
  • He wasn't great for us in League One, struggled in the championship last season, played poorly for us in the championship this season, didn't do particularly well on loan in division one....on what basis do we expect him to come into the team now and move us forward?
  • He's busy folding t-shirts.

Everyone has a soft spot for an academy product and I love scotty, but for me, Danny Green is twice the player Scotty will ever be.
  • Been done to death but despite an obvious ability he is too inconsistent and very often sadly a passenger. I would be astonished if he is still with us next term.

  • "Burst of pace, can use both feet, can whip dangerous balls into the box 24/7 and works his socks off for the team."

    No.

He's not that fast, he can whip a dangerous ball in some times but needs a lot of space or a dead ball and even then he'll opt to shot from a corner and he doesn't work his socks off, leaving his full back exposed.

"He has all the attributes for a top 10 premiership club so why are we ignoring him?"

If so it seem strange that none of those top ten clubs are trying to sign him or tried during the summer. Not even a bottom ten or top of the Champ club, only MK Dons in League 1 who sent him back.

What is strange is that Green is always judged on what he is GOING to do, not what he has DONE. If only he'd get 5, 10, 15 games then he'll show us his supporters tell us but the evidence if what he has actually done doesn't match that.
  • This has got to be a wind up..
  • Yeah I can see him replacing the likes of Walcott, Townsend, Lamela, Valencia, Young, Nani, Moses, Coutinho, Schurrle, Willian, Hazard, Jesus Navas, Nasri and Silva

If Danny Green was playing FIFA with himself

You're a poet and you know it !

  • The only way danny green will get near to a premiership bench is if he signs a contract with gold range.
  • he's to good for us.
  • think danny has bags of talent but doesn't have the ability to read a game or help out that much defensively. I can see why we let him go at 16.

I agree. He's not a fighter, is not top 10 premier league (unless he means the Blue Square Bet Premier League), has very little pace, can barely even stand on his left foot, let alone kick a ball with it, puts a dangerous cross in about once every half dozen games and doesn't track back or put the effort in.

Other than that, JoeE32's post is spot on!

  • Are there any addicks out there that would like to see him in the team?

It's come as a bit of a shock all this negativity :s

You have to trust me on this, he is the answer to a promotion this season.

It's only Joes 3rd visit. Is that too early ?

Have you actually seen him play?

Judging by the response, this may be my last visit. I am truly surprised! But hey, that's what makes our game the most beautiful game in the world. Everyone has their opinions!

I thought mine was shared by others but clearly I am wrong!
  • Wagstaff is playing in league one, and people argue that he should still be with Charlton....have you seen where BCFC are in league one at present?
He is not good enough, that said...neither is Green.
  • If Danny Green is the answer, the only question is "How the hell did we get so screwed?"
Pritchard, Stewart, Wilson I would all prefer in the right midfield to Green, I'd rather take a chance on a Harriot style youth product than see him start for Charlton in the Championship. With some of his tackling, he's better at giving away free kicks than taking them, not that he does a lot of defending on the best of days. He's no better at set pieces or taking a shot from range than Stephens, Jackson or Stewart, he's slower than Church.
I don't care whose academy he came from or what age he left it, he is pants, completely and totally pants. One or two good performances don't make a good player, and I can't remember him having more than that.
  • I don't think he can say that he hasn't been given a chance. He has been given a few and not taken them. He may or may not get another - if he does, it is up to him to make the most of it!
  • i rate Danny Green (no where near as much as JoeE32). No chance is he Prem quality, but he is potential game changer so i think he is a good player for our bench in this league. He can whip a good ball in, sometimes something lacking in our side.

But as someone mentioned above, his lack of a defensive side to his game leaves the full backs too exposed and unless he sorts that out, i cant see him starting a game for us in the championship. Plus powell doesnt play with 2 wingers, normally with 1 centre mid playing out wide (normally pritchard). Stewart for me performed well in the last few games and also i would have Harriott ahead of him in the pecking order.
  • BRING BACK SHAUN NEWTON!
  • Imagine the house he could get if he played for a top half Premier League side.
