A very respectable 316-8 from England with Buttler's 71 off 43 being the highlight. And good to see Johnson (0-72) getting a hammering too.

Bad news is that all four previous occasions we've got 300 plus we've lost!

I wouldn't really call it respectable considering where we were after 20 overs and 40 overs. The whole innings just fizzled out.

Well I would say if our score wasn't respectable then the Aussies total must have been despicable!

  • I would say it's probably time to give the gloves to Buttler for Test matches too now.
  • hip hip ... hooooray .. at 'kin last !!!! .. trouble is this 'victory' will ensure that there will be no captaincy or coaching changes for the foreseeable future
  • 3 months
    It only took 3 months
    it only took 3 months
    it only took 3 months
  • id make morgan 1 day skip (both forms)and also select him as a middle order bat for the test matches ...we need to be thinking about a proper substitute/ skipper elect to replace Cook .. only possible test match replacement skip is broad at the moment and that wouldnt work

Jos Buttler is a machine. And FINALLY a win.
  • I would say it's probably time to give the gloves to Buttler for Test matches too now.

I'd prefer him to concentrate on his batting and bring in another keeper (or recall Prior/Bairstow)
Longish term, Buttler would be my choice as skipper .. shorter term ? .. Morgan as test and 1 day skipper .. would he be the first Irishman to captain England ? (he's already done the job in the shorter game I believe)

He left Somerset to join Lancs because he wasn't getting a chance to keep. For that reason, I would initially do it the other way round and let him keep and bat him at 7 in the Test team but move him up to 5 or 6 in the ODI team.

As for Morgan, as much as I love him as a one day player, I do have serious doubts about his technique in the longer form of the game. His Test average of 30 and First Class Average of 34 is proof of that.

Well you were obviously in bed when we were batting. Every pundit on Sky and BBC said that we should have scored more. Don't worry, you just keep commenting with the benifit of hindsight, so much easier that way.
  • Joss Butler is most defiantly part of the future of English cricket. Eoin Morgan is most certainly not.

  • Congratulations to England. A magnificent achievement in not becoming the joint shitist England team of all time.

wrong on the second point .. VERY correct on the first .. we will see
  • well i am in the pro morgan camp of course other posters are entitled to a different view

he can field (unlike Cook),he s capable of thinking on his feet (unlike Cook) he had a really poor series in dubai against Pakistan but so did everybody else including Cook ...id back him to score more runs in tests than Bairstow (id even fancy my chances against him)...think hes been unfairly treated ...Tell me who else should skipper England other than Cook (he is everything that Shane Warne says he is)

perhaps Riviera you tell us what you would do or are you a bit tired after staying up all night ? lol

Unfortunately for you I don't follow every pundit on Sky and BBC. Perhaps, for once, you could offer your own opinion instead of listening to Boycott et al.

Oh and for your "benefit", "benifit" is spelt "benefit".

I think that's what I said but you chose not to quote me. Perhaps because you wanted to make people think it was actually your own opinion.

Oh and you may be "defiant" but are you "definite"?

  • Don't start going down the Napolean route fella or you will get berried. I don't follow pundits, you do though. Boycott went home weeks ago by the way.
You were tucked in bed when we should have pushed on, if you knew anything about cricket you'd have appriciated and agreed with what I said.

I don't read your posts and when I've been on the piss all day my spelling is subject to my i-pad predicting what I am trying to say. I really cannot be bothered to check.

Morgan is defiantly an international class player, for Ireland.

If you could actually be bothered you would see that I said many days ago that Cook should be nowhere near the one day team.
  • Bloody hell: (No arguing) !
    We beat the Aussies !

[Okay, might not be their first XI, but......]

OK. Point taken because I really don't want to be "berried" and you are "appriciated" I'm sure by someone.
