I would rather be in the champ! And most of my match-attending mates who support prem teams would love a stint in it. I'd rather be in a league I can (just about) afford to watch still. So it's not rubbish.
Why is it rubbish? Why are the fans not allowed to be realistic or even content with where they are? We're punching above our weight in this division as it is. You can call it a lack of ambition, thats fair enough. But I know our club and it's limitations.
We've not been in the Premier League. We don't hanker for it like you lot do. And we know we don't, and are unlikely to, ever have the resource to compete in the PL either. It would be embarrassing. One season might be a laugh, but to run the risk of utter financial ruin? Why?
For a small club in south east London, we've had an FA Cup Final, and FA Cup Semi-final, a couple trips to Wembley for Play-off finals, several play-off semi-finals, and a (albeit fleeting) trip into Europe - not bad in my opinion. Lets not get greedy now. That's enough excitement without having been anywhere near the PL.
I dont remember saying with the team or set-up you have now did i? I was talking history and saying that although you have the upper hand in the derby by a long way, we've experienced the Prem. Any Millwall fan that says they wouldnt want too would be lying.
We may well have fans that long to be in the Prem. None that I speak to though. Maybe they'll get their wish one day. Doubt it though, or at least in my lifetime. And as The Organiser says, I can just about afford to go any watch my club in the Championship. I can forget about all that if we were to go up. Being dictated to by Sky as to when we're playing. Foam hands. Face paints. Proper palace turn out!

12th place in the Championship. Happy days!
Fair points, Groucho. Don't know you from Adam but i bet everyone at millwall would have a Massive party for a week or If you got there. Its easy to say 'i don't want it' when its very unlikely.
I dont think you would attract the foam hand and facepaint brigade that you talk about. you would get an increase in 14 year old Danny Dyers that turn out for games against us, which in all fairness is probably just as bad.

For your Portsmouth see Leicester. Look at Burnley, Watford, Palace. All about how you manage yourself while your up and down.
Its like Charlton fans that say they would rather be in the champ than the Prem. Absolute rubbish.
