WDL from the last 3 games, just about what we could expect given the opposition. Some - stung by how stupid they were made to look last season - are once again frothing at the mouth to get rid of Powell, thankfully the majority seem to understand the incredible constraints under which he is working & take a more intelligent & considered approach. I would be happy with a last day escape from the drop given what CP has to work with this season, anything else is a bonus.
Load of old crap. No one is saying they want Powell out. Just pointing out about the lack of changes earlier and that's not just the people that didn't go its people who went too.

Think he probably means people elsewhere, the few that will never be happy whatever Powell does and every dropped point is down to his poor management.
As discussed out the back of the stand at half time. Just like when we started watching Charlton. We're alright, nothing special, we'll have some good wins and we'll watch some very dull games and we'll lose a good few a year. Nothing much to say except even at a tenner locals not very interested and the beers nice
Well Folks, this is my view of last night. We played okay against what was for me, a poor Charlton side. I never felt worried and thought we would win the match. The 5 minutes of injury time was nervy though (no idea where he got the 5 from).
You may though have got more from the game had your number 8 not gone down like a sack of you know what from a nothing challenge to waste time at the very end of the first half. He then proceeded to 'need' treatment thus wasting more time and ironically, we scored in the time added on for number 8's blatant time wasting (I would have been fuming had I been a Charlton fan as going in at 0 0 it is a different game).
You then throw in our 'wonder goal' and realise it is not going to be your night. Your goal was top notch, a quality strike.
Mid table beckons for us both .
I thought we deserved our win and final comment is recognition to the 200+ hardy soles that made the effort. Good on you as I wouldn't come to Charlton on a Tuesday night.

Funny how most of those people were singing a different tune at the end of last season.
352 does not play to our strength. Even though we appear incapable of keeping a clean sheet at the Valley in the league (last one in Nov 13 v Posh), the defence is our strength. 352 wastes two of our five best players ie Solly and Wiggins (other three imo Kerm, JJ and Pritch).
It also accommodates Stephens when stats previously put on CL show we win more when Mr Lux is not playing. Also I do not rate Hamer, being beaten by far too many long shots these days.
I suppose it is all about opinions but sometimes you have to go back to the evidence as to why we were so successful at the end of last season. This was because we had a strong player to support JJ in centre midfield. I believe that player is either now Pritch or Cousins.
442 is the way forward.
My ideal team if all fit:-
Alnwick
Solly Morrison Cort Wiggins
Pritch JJ Cousins Harriot
Yann Pigott/Church
We were successful after Andy Hughes came back into the team, he'd be perfect for Saturday if fit...

Thanks Scoham - it's the "f**ckin grow a pair Jiminez & Sack Him" idiots I am talking about...their half-witted burblings are easy enough to find out there :-(
Apologies oakster thought was talking about a few on this thread. Don't get me wrong I moan about Powells subs and tactics sometimes but don't want him out like the others do that you mention.

No apologies needed mate, I dont think CP is perfect by any means but I do recognise that he has some immense challenges in front of him - I really don't know who could realistically come in & do a better job. Seems like the players & staff are 100% behind him for the most part, which is what ultimately should see us through, as it did last year.

Even if one was to entertain the idea of getting rid of Powell (which sounds so ridiculous that I'm not sure why I'm even typing it) who would we get in ? We're quite clearly potless. We'd have to pay up 9 months of at least Chris Powell and Alex Dyers salaries and the salary of the new management team. It's just nonsensical to think we have the money to do this, anyone who thinks we can obviously hasn't been paying attention for the last couple of years.

Hopefully it won't come to it, but I would not expect any payment to be made from this lot without a fight. The Reams theory is that Paul Hart would take over short term.
No one was complaining about CP. A little more composure up front would have been the difference. Also, if we had a goalkeeper that spent his time keeping goal and not apologising for his lack of quality or blaming anyone stupid enough to still be listening o him...
If people say about the subs, that's ridiculous. Stewart, a sub, scored the goal and both he and Harriott were about to come on when we conceded the second which was a wonder strike. Nothing really you can do when that happens.
The subs came on, made a bit of a difference and we pushed on, scored and were unlucky in the end
Mate, some people have an agenda and will use every angle they can to highlight issues with his management every time we lose a game. Been the same since the start of last season. Only a small percentage, but sadly noticeable. Not sure what perfection people expect. Reminds me of the Sunday league players who couldn't trap a ball or pass it five yards straight, yet expect their ref to be of World Cup standard
It's a shame and quite sad really. Powell gets a lot of things correct, most in fact, which is why he is still in the job and doing a very good one at that. Yet people are eager to point out any minor fault of his even when it's something he may not have any control over, and let's not forget once the players cross the white line, ultimately what he can do is very limited.
He had prepared both Stewart and Harriott to come on before they scored the second, what can Powell do to stop a wonder goal? But you're right, it's unfortunately a noticeable small percentage that either have unrealistic expectations which are impossible to fulfil, or do not quite understand the game as well. Now, don't get me wrong that's no dig at any supporter, it's just that it gets very annoying when people put blame onto Powell of something that can't be controlled.

We can all have different opinions about when subs should come on , have a good understanding of the game and still support our brilliant manager - chill out.
