  • The person who forks the pitch down there looks OK. Peter Finch is loving it!
    image
  • He is an off he shoulder stronger version of Haynes, not as quick but seemed quick, I thought his footwork was good and his hold up play was ok nothing flashy but held the ball up well, likes a step over and moved in the right areas,

if this was a player who has only done a fitness based pre season then I am sure with game time he could be a real find certainly something different to what we have had in the last few years

but Its Piggott I really feel is the real deal
  • thanks for the reports chaps. encouraging about Coulibaly. Hope he is around still for the Inverness game. Sounds like Piggott impressed too. Word of warning though. He's young and hasn't played a league game yet. Hopefully he'll be involved at some point this season but by the end of it he won't have reached ten appearances, incl subs, so I don't think we should be looking at him to solve our striking problems this season. I don't doubt he will become a player but it won't be overnight he'll become a first team regular. Harriott made his debut two seasons ago, disappeared for a season, and then reappeared half way through last season. Piggott likewise will need nuturing so let's not expect him to play 30 games and bang them in right, left and centre because that ain't gonna happen. Yet.

We were cracking bad puns on the terrace about her being "a good fork", and "digging" her body, etc., etc. Imagine the kind of grief she must cop from fans from Accrington Stanley.

  • Give her a testimonial?
  • That bird was stunning.

    - She obviously keeps her lawn immaculate.
    - I wouldn't mind playing ball on her pitch
    - I could lend her some seed for her pitch
    - I wonder if she plows like she forks

    I'm out.

    (PS, Glad Adamo played well)

Those are all good, Lucky! Having slept on Coulibaly - so to speak - I say: let's have 'im. I like the cut of his jib: strong and tall without being musclebound, with very good acceleration and pace. Willing to get stuck in, evinced by scrap with keeper when chasing down dodgy back-pass. Tougher than Obika. And vitally: an experienced scorer, with 115 in 249 apps. Up front with Kermogant, should be a winner. Powell says he's had him watched for quite some time. Don't piss about - sign him now.

  • I forgot all about her jeeeeeesssssuuuuussss swap for paddy right now

Adamo is def a tougher looking cookie than anything we have had bar yann however I don't think he is a warrior and I reckon he will fall over a bit easy at times looking for fouls and pens
  • I think he might be as good as we can get - sign him up!

Agree about pensioning off Paddy after his testimonial and bringing in new talent, NLA. But don't get your reservations about Coulibaly: no evidence of falling over yesterday.

  • just a feeling mate just a feeling
  • just a feeling mate just a feeling

Yep, feelings and hunches can inform us well. For me, Coulibaly left a very positive impression - even more so, on reflection the morning after.

  • He'll definitely fill the gap that Danny Haynes leaves behind with the pace and acceleration. His goal record speaks for itself as well. Hard to really fault this development too much really - I think he could be a real player for us on last night's showing.
  • How did Wood look ?
  • "He'll definitely fill the gap that Danny Haynes leaves behind..."

Without the evidence (as yet!) of the dodgy hamstrings...
  • I think Green could be like a new player this season. Hearing good things so far this pre season.

We're all rooting for him: a neatly taken goal yesterday. But sadly he reverted to frustrating type in the second half, messing up an attacking move with a misplaced pass, which is forgivable, but this certainly isn't: directing a corner straight to the keeper, on his line, with our men eight yards back. Inexcusable at Championship level; such a terrible waste.

  • Liked the look of Coulibaly and agree with the comment previously that he was perhaps trying to endear himself by playing others in on a couple of occasions when he may have been better going alone. Looked strong, confident and with a decent bit of skill.

Green took his goal very well. Want him to do well and make a success of it this season, but agree about the poor corner. Impressed with Joe when he came on late, first time I have seen him.

All in all, a decent run out to continue building match fitness. Not worried about winning these games, just about getting players time on the pitch, trying a few new things (players, formations, set pieces if possible). Have seen us win all pre-season games & then be awful in the league & vice versa.

plus he lost it big time when he lost the ball and dived in two footed in a friendly, leading to the ref to give him a tempting glimpse of a yellow card. Danny Green is a very good player, who seems to struggle at times to show it.

I believe in the past he has scored a couple direct from the corner so he consistently throws away pressure by trying a repeat. Apart from goal I thought he was poor and he will meet better full backs in CCC. Speaking of poor AFKA, that was how I saw Wood.

  • I barely watched the game so can't really comment. My highlight was getting a 'sign him up' chant for hitting the ball back. Albeit that may also be because someone got completely taken out when attempting to kick it just before me, haha.

Cheers NLA sounds a good potential addition to squad at moment allowing Piggot to develop with out pressure. Agree with you re Joe, having watched him for the last 4 seasons, for me he has an in built quality you cannot coach into any player...a 6th sense for where the goal is whichever way he is facing, I hope he is only going to get better and better

  • Dan I thought wood looked like operation pig said

be very surprised if he can do a job in the championship

I thought his positioning, distribution and speed were all very poor , might have been an off performance but I think him and button are real weak points god forbid we pick up an injury in those two areas

Button was to say it politely

    SHIT
  • cheers. Sounds encouraging !

More Cov mate was more supportive, though he though League One was probably his level.
  • its mozza, cort devite mate but I think powell wants him who am I to argue I aint a pro football mgr

That was brill, I started that, was the guy with the huge flag at the front,

Wood was poor, new number 9 was decent, could be worth a punt on a free

Are you the guy who fell flat on his ass after kicking it :P?

Haha, thankfully not. He ended up with quite a nasty graze on his elbow.
