Planning application action for The Whody has been withdrawn and pub won’t now be “partially demolished”. At least for the time being. Not surprised they’d had no interest at the £1.2m price tag.
Does also say that the developer claimed the pub wasn’t economically viable. I struggle to believe that knowing that @clive drinks there!! 😉

Economically viable is a very spurious term, which means yeah its sustains itself and turns a small profit but we can make more money doing something else.
It's a great shame they opened the deli and then it failed. It was very popular and badly missed by many of the regulars. Luckily The Star is shining so we still have a decent boozer to drink in.

I don't get the complaints about The Trafalgar. People have told to the council that it's stopping access... To what? That path along the Thames leading to the Cutty Sark is about two foot wide. The Trafalgar section is one of the widest parts!
It was very nice to see @Rock Spectacle in his home top outside the Rusty Bucket in Eltham last night, getting a hug from a random man who was also in a Charlton top (this chap drank half a pint then cleared off on his bike)
Heritage bus to link pubs in Blackheath, Eltham and New Cross tomorrow
Three London pubs will be linked by a free heritage bus service tomorrow (Saturday 19 July)
The Green Goddess in Blackheath, Rusty Bucket in Eltham and Shirkers Rest in New Cross will see a 50 year old bus former London bus that had a later life at Whipsnade Zoo.
It’ll circulate between the three pubs during the afternoon and evening.
Scottish craft beer giant Brewdog is to close 10 bars across the UK, including its flagship pub in Aberdeen. Was in Norwich on Saturday night and every pub was heaving, except for Brewdog
Can't say I've ever been in a Brewdog pub/bar or ever drunk any of their beers - always seemed a bit faddy and gimmicky to me.
Problem with that is that's it's fine while it lasts, but when people move on to the next fad or fall for the next gimmick, then where does that leave you? Shutting pubs is where.

Think the City is almost 7 days a week now! Was in Leadenhall Market a few weeks ago - was heaving, New Moon was packed.

Nancy Spain is opening a new bar in Fenchurch St, they will be selling Murphy’s. Beamish can now be found at Gibney’s in Old St.

Unlikely to stay in the family as from what i've been told a lot of money was owed to the brewery.
