Cheeky pint in this classic ale house,  anyone?
Used to drink  in the 80’s, met Benny from crossroads in there as he was doing panto in the theatre near by.
    Oh no he wasn't

    good to hear
  • Young people are smoking and drinking less and not going to pubs . More older pub people have transitioned to home socialising since Covid. The price of a pint is prohibitive for many yes but it is by no means the first reason for the demise of pubs. Praying the internet disappears and we all go back to discussing down the local instead...

Big reopening today, Razor Ruddock cutting the ribbon at 12!

Must be doing well (the pub, not Ruddock) as post-covid a lot of places are struggling, and as you say the refurb won't have been cheap.

Unless they are just laundering money

Where if you're really lucky you'll get glassed by a coked up 20something for looking at him.

The male pub culture of the 50's/60's is dead and maybe not such a bad thing?
  • I've been a regular pub goer for the last forty years and have never been glassed once. Maybe I go to a better class of Spoons to you.

    Neither will Ruddock's bar tab.

Is that because you glass them first?
  • Shuffleboard and a mini flight club down the Camden now.

Photo 3 was where I got the beauty of Frulji mk11.
Over here 99.9% of places serve food.  In one a 600cl beer and an edible hamburger run out at £2.75 B)

Plenty of cash left over for the lady boys then

Oh really……that’s very very surprising, I thought it was doing well and has been the most well attended pub in Lee ever since it opened.
If true, it will be music to the ears of the owners of The Lord Northbrook and The Old Tigers Head.

Different clientele in both. Northbrook is pricey and Tigers is students and culturally diverse. The spoons was neither.

Been on the cards for years as the Leegate centre is slated for redevelopment: https://853.london/2022/06/17/leegate-redevelopment-plans-for-15-storey-tower-and-563-homes-go-to-council/

Had long expected Wetherspoon to pick up the New Tiger's Head but that's a shop now. Lee Green probably doesn't fit in with what Spoons does now, which is big town centre locations.

A shame Lee Green is not closing.

The pictures on that link are horrific - no wonder it's planned to be flattened.

Bring back Woolworths, and a cheeky nick of a pick and mix whilst browsing
  • That and a browse in the window of Leegate travel on a all inclusive Freddie Laker to Benidorm

That’s true Suzi…….but it’s still a big competition out of the way.
Yes, I don’t think it will increase The Lord Northbrook clientele
that much but I reckon The Old Tigers Head will see a fair increase.
Not forgetting Duke of Edinburgh of course.

The Lord Northbrook is miles away, almost nearer to Grove Park.
