Young people are smoking and drinking less and not going to pubs . More older pub people have transitioned to home socialising since Covid. The price of a pint is prohibitive for many yes but it is by no means the first reason for the demise of pubs. Where if you're really lucky you'll get glassed by a coked up 20something for looking at him.
The male pub culture of the 50's/60's is dead and maybe not such a bad thing?
Oh really……that’s very very surprising, I thought it was doing well and has been the most well attended pub in Lee ever since it opened. If true, it will be music to the ears of the owners of The Lord Northbrook and The Old Tigers Head.

Different clientele in both. Northbrook is pricey and Tigers is students and culturally diverse. The spoons was neither.

Had long expected Wetherspoon to pick up the New Tiger's Head but that's a shop now. Lee Green probably doesn't fit in with what Spoons does now, which is big town centre locations.

That’s true Suzi…….but it’s still a big competition out of the way. Yes, I don’t think it will increase The Lord Northbrook clientele that much but I reckon The Old Tigers Head will see a fair increase. Not forgetting Duke of Edinburgh of course.

The Lord Northbrook is miles away, almost nearer to Grove Park.

Must be doing well (the pub, not Ruddock) as post-covid a lot of places are struggling, and as you say the refurb won't have been cheap.

Gatwick North Terminal today.
We beat the crowds by getting a beer in at 4.35, come 5.15 there were not many tables free.
Las Palmas v Tenerife tonight.
Swerved this one as a bit too early at 4.20
Photo 3 was where I got the beauty of Frulji mk11.
Over here 99.9% of places serve food. In one a 600cl beer and an edible hamburger run out at £2.75
