  • 2 very winnable games to go IMHO. Boro and Bristol occupy last and second to last position in the latest current form table. I am desperate for us to finish no lower than 9th (plus I have a bet on with a mate that we will finish above dirty Leeds).

The playoffs would be amazing but it just ain't gonna happen.
  • Losing Hughes OR Jackson would have been a dent but not too bad, losing both took away the biggest leaders on the pitch we have, which combined with tiredness after two tough games already probably accounts for a rather lacklustre performance. Wolves looked terrible, the goal was the only clear chance I can remember them creating all game. Oh and Stephen Hunt can fuck right off, dirty cheating arsehole.
  • Thought it was a fairly poor match from both sides. I felt the team looked tired, even Pritchard didn't run as much as usual. I thought Wolves were pretty physical but apart from Hunt on Hamer I didn't think they were that dirty. (Particularly compared to a lot of other northern teams we've entertained this season). Both our goals were scrappy but it was a nice feeling watching football in the sunshine. And Obika did it again. Wolves have some good players, but don't seem to gel as a team and you could see they looked pretty deflated. Most of our players aren't at their standard, but the difference is the team spirit. Was worried after first Hughesy then Jacko went off. Thought Morro and Dervite played well together, and Dervite clearly has some bite to his game; he's improving IMO. Green was eager, does he get an assist for the second even though his cross (shot?) was woeful?

Missed something else to be here, on balance glad I did
  • Cant recall seeing a team that negative or dirty in ages. Glad we beat them and made sure the muppet who tried to get onto the pitch when they scored got nicked for nothing.
  • With Obika grabbing another late game it reminded me a lot of the game against Leeds... only in the sky.

Wolves'll slot nicely into league one. If Oldham stay up the match between them two should be a classic.
  • Can't believe this! 40 odd comments in and I agree with absolutely everything that's been said so far! Awful game. Green the difference. Shame it takes a combination of injuries for him to get a game! Morro shaky and what was Hamer doing with their goal? But a good win nonetheless. Wolves were utter guff. Hope they go down now. Good job it was a lovely day. If it had been freezing I'd have left at half time. Quite the worst 45 mins I can remember.
  • I plaaay football...obi, obi, obika, obika
  • Not a great game, particularly first half. Surprised by the approach of Wolves who needing to win seemed to set up to not lose. Probably hoped to get to 70 minutes at nil nil then go for it.

Wolves were pretty nasty. Lots of off the ball blocks when we attacked. Thought Hunt's challenge was marginally late but not sure how malicious. They were poor all over the pitch and relied on the long ball and long throws. Terrible defending for their goal.

Us? We were no better than 6/10. Little fluidity and struggled to play around their five man midfield. First half forgettable.

Powell played Kermorgant deeper second half, which had some effect. First goal was fortunate, second a neat finish from a tight angle. Nobody had a great game but neither did anyone have a stinker.

Obika seems to really fit in and the rest of the players seemed pleased for him. Powell seems impressed by him and I expect him to start next week.

What a lovely end to the season this is turning out to be.
  • Really poor game, especially the first half. Worst I've seen Morro play. Dervite was good as was Solly as always. Terrible wolves team.
  • Absolutely dire 1st half from both sides. We did improve in the 2nd though, Green made the impact that was needed, all in all happy with the result (who couldnt be?)

  • We were lethargic today. Too many times players waited to see what would happen rather than make it happen. Wolves only had one decent player - Doyle but luckily he had no support. Dervite had a good game (took his goal brilliantly with sublime skill:-) and I thought all three subs acquitted themselves well. Gower played some superb passes and Green gave us an outlet on the right although I thought he had f**ked up the Obika goal trying to get the ball onto his right foot. Obika was - well - Obika!! He showed great energy and desire (unlike Ricardo) and was rewarded with a goal. Wolves played hump-ball and got what they deserved - a position in the relegation zone.
  • Awful game of football. Epitomised by the first goal. Awful corner, awful keeping, awful attempted finish. Obika took his goal well. Gutted this run has come so late play offs would have been incredible!
  • Big big loss when Hughsie came off but very happy with a third straight win at Fortress Valley

Neither side offered much up front but Green had an impact when he came on and Obika is clearly a talented lad. Mark Gower looked off the pace and understandibly lacks match sharpness.

This evening I am going to rejoice in the three points the evening sun and a BBQ and with a pair of Middlesborough tickets tucked in my back pocket...
  • Would like to see it again but thought their goal dropped just inside the post and hamer had no chance with it.
  • Doesn't sound like it was a great game, but having to endure watching Rangers v Peterhead instead, I will never complain about the quality of English lower leagues again!

Good result today, never really liked Wolves for no real justifiable reason and never like any team with Stephen Hunt in it. Hope they go down.
Nice to be able to relax and casually check for results without any real concern.
  • Scrappy game which we maybe just edged.

Disappointed by Wolves for a team fighting relegation they lacked fight and ambition.

Obika is turning into a super sub
  • No way Hamer to blame for their goal it was perfectly placed not sure our CHs can say the same
  • Poor performances and a poor game but good to see us win at home. Expect Obika to start the last couple of games in place of Fuller, be interesting to see how he does.

Wouldn't call Morrison and Dervite ball playing centre backs but they're far more comfortable on the ball than Cort and an improvement on Taylor. That said we didn't seem to get the space to pass the ball from the back very often. Scrappy game all round really and plenty of long ball from both sides.

With the likes of Cort, Taylor and Hughes coming towards the end of their careers (at least at this level), Gower and Obika on loan, and BWP, Wagstaff etc. likely to be released we'll need 5/6 signings in the summer. Get some solid players and we'll have another similar season. Need at least a couple to seriously improve on what we already have if we're going to challenge for promotion.
  • It wasn't the best game I have ever seen but when you play teams like Wolves it's not going to make for an attractive game. Both halves were lacking good football - the first bordered on dull while the second was quite entertaining.

As for the result, on another day this season Wolves would have got a point or maybe even three. We were out-muscled first half but just had a little bit more skill in the second half. Green and Obika brought a spark to the team which had only come through Harriott in flashes beforehand.

Of the 11 starters, I thought Dervite shone and was outstanding but most of the rest had patchy games. As an irregular attendee, two things struck me - Fuller and Kermorgant look a complete mismatch for the front two and Harriott looks promising - he is unorthodox and unsettles defences. I am surprised that Dervite and Harriott haven't been regulars this season.
  • Not sure how bad the two injuries ( Hughes and Jackson) but would like to see rouamba involved next week , with hopefully the posibility of poyet and a few other youth team involved vs Bristol city !

  • Not one that will live long in the memory but great to pick up our third home win on the bounce and get through the 60 point barrier. The injuries certainly disrupted us and I agree with others that there was an element of fatigue in our performance.

We looked a little open through the middle of the park ( reminiscent of home games earlier this season ) but Wolves didn't offer much, albeit that they were a bit unfortunate to take nothing from a poor game, which probably neither team deserved to win.

Wolves got what they deserved. For a team desperate for points their lack of urgency and ambition amazed me. Hope they go down.

    100% THIS!!!

Thought they were rubbish. Total lack of ambition from the off. Don't like Wolves. Their fans always seem like they're stuck in the 70'unned at the lack of am

Absolutley stunned by that wolves performance.we were off the pace today for a lot of the game ourselves, but that has put them right back in trouble.Their fans deserve better than that ,never would have said that was a team fighting for survival, shocking.
  • Their fans are helmets. Have met a few and they all sound like Ozzy Osbourne - only not as funny.

Not whilst we are still in with a shout of the playoffs (no matter how far fetched that may sound)

Colour Sargent Bourne in your Avatar is wearing a helmet. Just saying.

Wearing a helmet, but NOT a helmet. Big difference.
  • Colour Sargent Bourne was actually only 5' 6 " tall.
  • And is buried in Beckenham.
  • Maybe it was because I was sitting somewhere different today, but the wolves seemed to be bloody quiet. For a team on the verge of going down there wasn't much crowd encouragement from their fans
  • I thought a combination of the sun, a drying pitch and 2 teams who looked liked they have had enough this season led to a very patchy & relatively un-eventful game, which didn't help by us having our best 2 players of late leave the action prematurely.

Would like to see more of Obika because when he has come on he has looked quick, sharp & seems to know where the goal is.....

Green, as usual, put in some decent crosses & even his cr*p ones led to a goal.

Morro off the pace - perhaps 3 games in a week took its toll, although he did make one great tackle in the 2nd half near the East Stand touchline.

Thought the Wolves looked like a team who know they are going down - a lot of huff & puff but no end product.

Just wish we had 5 or 6 games to go instead of just 2...........reckon we'd make the play offs if that was the case.
