got to say the Fitness levels from our boys is awsome to keep on it llike they did was epic even in injury time thefreekick we got moro and devitte sprinting to get into cardifs box was unreal.
Solly was immense last night, Bellamy didn't get much change from him last night. It wont be long before he's snapped up, I just hope we don't get mugged again.
We need to keep him and Harriott for next season if we have any ambition. We are only a couple of signings away from challenging for automatic promotion next year.
There's a few teams around us in pretty poor form, the play-offs are definitely not impossible.
Leicester hadn't won in 9 games before last night. Palace haven't won in 6, losing 4. Middlesborough have lost 6 of their last 8. Nottingham Forest haven't won in 5 games. Brighton, Bolton and ourselves are the only teams in and around the play-offs that's in good form.
If we keep this run up, I think we can sneak into the play-offs. This is the most important part of the season, a good run now can often result in success. I don't think we'd have much chance of winning the play-offs, but getting in them would be a big achievement I think.
Very belatedly again, echo what most of those in attendance last night have already posted.
If this had been a mid season game against the team that has been near the top of the Championship since day one, a point would have been great & the lads' performance lauded.
However, this was a match of the highest importance to City and to their fans...the noise they made from the first to last whistle was incredible....singing and chanting as one voice. Millwall at Wembley - eat your hearts out !
Of course, the pressure was on the Red/Blue birds with a clean sheet their predominant aim but we played as though we were the Champions in waiting. OUR determination to keep another clean sheet was there for all to see and boy did we reach that "goal" with another superb defensive performance and Solly my MOM.
But it would be unfair to single out a particular area of the team for praise. Every one of our lads played his part & should rightly be proud of the way the whole unit battled in that cauldron of noise & Welsh passion that was the City Stadium . Neither young Callum or Pritch would have experienced such an atmosphere before but both stepped up to the plate with barely an eyelid batted.
Great credit must go to SCP and his management staff for the way in which the team was set up and prepared mentally , especially after the euphoria of the goal fest 3 days earlier. This could well have been a case of "after the Lord Mayor's Show " but there was never any fear of that. This truly is a set of players and their management staff to be proud of.
Although 2 nasty accidents on the M4 held us up on both the away and home legs of the journey, all matchday programmes were sold out before we arrived and after barely 5 hours sleep I'm now starting to feel jet lagged, this was a game not to be missed for so many reasons. For me, it epitomised just how far we've travelled this first season back in the 2nd tier- not measured in miles, but in doggedness ( if there is such a word ) & determination which has grown over the course of the last 8 months.
With a degree of investment to strengthen the squad, as we gather was initially promised last May, I can only see a successful season ahead of us come August with our path progressing onwards & upwards. The foundations are now firmly in place, the bricklaying has begun with the Architect's plan in clear view and the skilled labourers continue to develop at this level....With our encouragement this old house, in urgent need of repair just 2 years ago, could be the Property of the Year come May 2014.
Is this the famous chap in the pink shirt ? - See Tommy Dowling's 2nd photo above at 1.55pm.
"I know we were all taken the p**s out of the BIG fat chap in the pink shirt, fair play to him he played his part."
"Apart from that ' pleasently plump' geeza in the pink Jacamo shirt, there were 2 charlton birds having a punch up with each other."
I could hear on the net, the Cardiff fans singing very loudly about the fat bloke. Sounded like the whole ground joined in.
Yeah that was him and he took the banter in good heart and started to play up to them, ie showing them his belly but some miserable bastard steward gave him a bit of grief. Top bloke though, goes away a lot.
Its interesting to read the welcoming touches Cardiff have made at their new stadium, the posters and the staff wearing Charlton kit, this seems to be a trend with new stadiums where there's more of an effort made, Brighton do the same. Apart from the obvious "difficult" matches it seems like a good idea. I don't imagine we have anything special to welcome visiting fans, apart from Millwall when we inconvenience the home support.
