I've seen loads of away fans who compare to them for creating an atmosphere. Spurs, I remember being particularly loud, although they turned on their own team quickly when it wasn't going their way (those were the days).
Hopefully in seasons to come we won't remember this one. Its the great seasons I remember. Seasons like last year are th prize for keeping faith from 2005. Hopefully we'll look back after another one to remember in th not to distant future.
I'm with the first post - I've properly fallen out of love with football lately. Not just Charlton but all of it.
Timewasting, "gamesmanship", cheating, diving - all getting worse and nothing happening to stop it.
This season needs to finish and then I guess we will see what happens in the summer.
Ill be back next season, probably, but I am wondering if I should spend more time with my kids - and the way our "supporters" sometimes act I don't think bringing my kids to the game is wise.
Funny - after some of our "fans" went drinking on an empty head at Palace I stated I'd happily shop the idiots in if I knew who they were - the response on Facebook was rather negative towards me. Seems our numbers of idiots might be growing and if racism keeps on growing then you can kiss goodbye to our entire coaching team....
To all of you suffering.I say give up the season ticket. I did it years ago and have never looked back. I am a better, calmer and more well rounded person for it. Think of your health.
We're all riding a low at the moment. It really doesn't feel there is anything going for our club anymore and it is going through a real identity crisis.
It seems these people only turn up to millwall and palace games.
The whole place changes when them two come to town, and it's always for the worse.
These people aren't charlton fans, we won't see them again for the rest of the season, but unfortunately their attendance twice a season ruins it for the real fans that come every week.
This. Don't remember seeing these morons at Hudds last week???

Food for thought
Have to admit,i agree. Its also seeing the dedication of athletes in a Olympics year with the sacrifices they go through - and seeing diving, cheating, shirt holding at corners, arguing with refs, scummy fans (and things that i never thought i'd see from Charlton fasn) - i'm at the point of having had enough too.
I've been falling out of love with football year on year for some time. I must admit that thus far my Charlton love affair has not been affected by the greed is good, cheat when you can get away with it, mentality that pervades every level of football but for the first time I'm not sure. I remember thinking when SCP took over that we did indeed have our Charlton back but events since then have made me wonder. I will continue to go to The Valley but won't be renewing my season ticket.

But it will change.
And what will make it change for the better? You read Razils cry for help today, I guess. I find that equally as depressing as what I saw on the pitch and what I have read on this and the other thread about s the off--field fiasco.
It will only change for the better if we who want our Charlton back get together and make it happen, and do not sit back waiting for someone else to do it.
All of it. 35 years of going (that I can remember - its longer than that, but I can't remember going when I was five). I've never been as pissed off as I am now with 'my' club. Owners that don't give a fuck about us, and don't have any identity with the club at all. 'Fans' who seem to think we have a God-given right to win every game at home (despite us, for the most part, being a club that has struggled in 90% of the seasons I've seen us play). Football in general being shit and boring nowadays.
But n reality, what I've really had enough of are some of the absolute fucking arseholes professing to be Charlton fans. For years we've had knuckle draggers giving it about the Valley not being 'intimidating' enough, and us being too 'nice' a club. Well, congratulations. It certainly looked intimidating to the two black blokes behind me as they cringed through the abuse being screamed at Shittu and Abdou yesterday.
I'm starting to hate going, and am 90% sure I won't bother next year. if I was the sort of cunt who enjoyed spending his Saturdays surrounded by pondlife like the bellends near me yesterday I'd go to the toolbox or move to Leeds or Birmingham.
Or change seats ? I sit in Upper North Block L & I've never heard anything racist near me.
Leroy its double shit at the mo------maybe a time out required.
I wont be giving em any money till last game of the season-----i hope by then i will be missing it and having beers with mates----------i fear if i aint missing it then its a good bye from him Lower North is ok and NW Quad is ok not to many knob heads about---just us old peace loving Dark siders
Agree with this thread, I have kind of fallen out of love with football in general, too much player power, too many players playing for money rather than for the love of the game. Expect to see further decline and love loss. As for vile supporters, this is the new generation of grunters if you ask me.
CP has done what he can with this squad - there is no lack of effort and motivation is not a problem. We lack a plan b and plan a aint much cop but i think CP gets as much out of them as anybody could. Why should we be second best to Millwall? We shouldn't so the board need to invest or hurry up and sell up - they aint welcome any more. Being owners of our club comes at a price - that price, is putting you hand in your pocket - if you aren't prepared to do it, or can't do it, then piss off. Yesterday was the tipping point so hurry up and f off.
Slater wasn't slow with the letters to season ticket holders when he first became involved with the club. Pleading for our support, promising things will improve and their commitment to youth etc etc.
Now there is nothing. And the fact that the attempts of posters on this site to communicate with the club have fallen on seemingly deaf ears is a real worry.
I have no real issues on the playing front. I do believe that our players, on the whole, give their all. We would not have the away form we do if that wasn't the case. Our home form now is based on psychology rather than ability. However, in saying that we must all accept that we are a relatively weak squad in this league and will perform as such.
This club only survived because of the fans and the effort and commitment of the Charlton supporting staff. We were 'one', and united. The spiral we went into a few years ago tested many of us and the subsequent recovery was down to the inspired appointment of Powell.
As a usually half glass full type of person the fact that I'm worried worries me (if that makes sense?). Those running the club are in serious danger of alienating the more loyal, realistic and accepting fans, while the nastier element seems to be gaining momentum.
I actually wouldn't mind as much if the board were skint and told us they were. Told us that things were grim and we all needed to pull together. But what do we get though ? Not even spin. We get nicht, nada, zip. Has anyone actually heard Jimenez speak ? Is he a fucking hologram.

Brainless idiots for shouting abuse at shittu and abdou! get racastism out of football campain wasnt done for nothing but it is the first time I have heard things like this being said at the valley!! Sadly it looks like its got in

If they came out and said they were broke, they would say goodbye to any reasonable bid from a potential owner. Any potential bids coming in would be low because of how desperate the owners were to sell the club.
I have to say I thought the Millwall fans created a great atmosphere yesterday. They made more noise than I remember from away fans (much, much more than our fans) and apart from the "You might as well f**k off" song, which I thought was funny under the circumstances, I don't think I once thought they did anything that I wouldn't want my 8 year old witnessing.
Maybe it will soon be us that everyone hates. After all they are making more headlines with their football than anything else and our fans are, in no particular order, abusing former players wives and children, throwing flares onto the pitch, smashing up seats, singing sick songs and raciallly abusing players, including former players.
As much as I would love The Valley to be atmospheric and intimidating to away teams I want no part of what we are becoming. I won't stop coming as I sit far enough away from those people at home but I've virtually stopped going to away games now!
Nah. Thought their away support was shit, quiet as until it was 2-0. Even at 0-0 they didn't sing. We sang all 90 minutes at their gaff. So don't talk nonsense. You can't have been at The Den, and if you were I suggest you remove your earplugs.

There is no doubt that racastism is a huge problem in modern society.......:)

I hope this is addressed. Soon.
