just texted two mates who both sit in the East, centre blocks, and both replied the same 'taking the piss'. Don't think it's going to go down too well.
It's not with me... it may be less that our neighbours but a rise of that magnitude ain't going to go down too well with Mrs ET... especially when I come home moaning most weeks.
Do I move from my East Stand seat of 19 years?
As long as you don't sit near me I'm not bothered :-)

In comparison to London football it's bang on reasonable no one is making anyone buy an ST the option for walk up is still there can't see anything to moan about tbh

I've had one of those since our premiership days and used it 4 times for CAFC s/t purchase - Barclaycard have norsed it up every time and denied the 0% interest offer. Last season they came up with a new and spectacular excuse and I quote "CAFC Ltd did not classify itself as a sports club and used the wrong trade classification for this transaction." Each of the 4 times I've had to get the banking ombudsman to force Barclaycard to comply with the terms of their own offer. Barclaycard never admitted doing anything wrong and only complied "as a concession in this case" despite repeating the offense for a 4th time and not once in 4 exact replica situations have they admitted doing anything wrong or apologised for their conduct.
I'll have to make my mind up whether to risk them trying to rip me off this year as well.
In short - Barclaycard Premiership card = major headache and much letter writing for interest free season tickets.
Will the squad numbers need to be slimmed down in the Summer to cover our losses , ie go for quality over quantity in the first team , & then rely on youth to see if they can cut it , improve / be sold on for a tidy profit.Would love to see Callum Harriot given a run on the left hand side of midfield , once we are safe in this division , and maybe even Azeez / Sho Silva given a few games to see what they can do?
Whilst i'm not happy about huge Season ticket price increases , i can understand the board don't want to / can't keep dipping in their pockets , to cover our losses, are we going for a top 6 finish next season , or more of the same?
Will we buy a 20 goal a season striker in the Summer , will the pitch be better , will we have the players signed in the Summer to break down teams at the Valley , and bring the 'feel good ' factor back , that seems to have evaporated after promotion last Summer , lots of questions need answers, i know this season is all about staying in the division , and whilst i don't want the board to become reckless , we do need to show improvements each season.
"...benefit from substantial savings..." compared to what price after 8 April? Very significant omission from that announcement. How much is it realistically going to be for championship football next season? £500? more? £25 per match on a game by game basis is pretty much my limit financially. I know many championship clubs regularly charge more than that but that ain't affordable anymore. How much are they suggesting it will be for league one football next season? More than £440 would be barely credible. Obviously there's the whole issue of TJ & MS's crowd pulling the plug if league one hoves into view... Training session at SE7?? Really?? Sure, I'd be interested to see a bit of training but it's not got any monetary value cos we'd never pay to see training anyway. The season ticket carrot that Charlton's various owners have always missed - cup match tickets. A couple of league cup matches or one FA Cup match included I think could really make a difference to the attendance for said match(es) and thereby the associated after spend. This season's home cup match attendances were all pitiful, even at £10 or £15 a seat. The cup match offer must be a tiny tiny risk. Charlton would have to be drawn away in the early rounds, win at least a couple of cup ties (yeah right) and then get a home draw against the spanners, nigels or a decent prem side for there to be any chance of a moneyspinner big gate. An August or September midweek home game in the league cup against lower league opposition for £10 or £15 ain't ever likely to be appealing - but if it's free, even if I had to book a seat, there's a very good chance I'd go. If that's true for half the s/t holders another 5000 on the attendance figure just looks better, this season's were downright embarrassing and that inevitably effects the team's performance.
Having been on the breadline for the last few seasons when renewal time has come up and having to waive the option of buying I do understand where the disappointment is coming from, but I think the pre 8th April pricing is reasonable. Hopefully the club have done there maths and worked out the likely attrition against the increase in revenue and it is positive.
Football supporters are not like other consumers, each week / fortnight we go to a match pay significant sums and leave moaning and disappointed (generally) and then we go back again and spend the same amount. Most of us will do whatever we can to get our football fix and with Charlton we are getting it on the cheap at the moment, despite the lack;lustre home record. People may decide to drop out, but if we start winning again then they will return either on a match by match basis or one of the ST offers such as 1/2 season ticket.
In my case the first year I did not buy at the beginning of the season (I think it was the p;lay off semi final defeat season) at Christmas I asked every body who bought me a christmas present to give me money and with that I got a half season ticket.
I think todays prices are reasonable, but I fully expect that this year is a forerunner to significant year on year increases in coming years, especially if we become more successful.
What if all of these ideas were brought together in a structured format and a group of people had a discussion with the club about the way forwards?
Well step one on that path was to set up a democratic fans trust (since copied by Chelsea earlier this month)
And step two is for everyone interested to help grow that trust while the interim committee seek a dialogue with the club
And step three is a very big one... for the club to recognise that the success of the 90s - which many other clubs have copied - was based on some kind of partnership where fans and club walk together to grow the gates while recognising that signing star players is an expensive business.
We know that players will be released but we don't know the budget for replacements - will they be of the calibre of the top first team players or will the club wait for the U18 team to mature?
We can see that there are many, many ideas out there which could help grow the gates year on year. Over 200 have already joined the trust and we are now looking for the next 200 ... if anyone can assist with ideas or time on a match day then please in box me or Razil
Your right to a degree we have been 'spoilt' with comparative cheaper pricing than Millwall or Palace , if we had been paying the prices that are coming next season for the season we are in , would we have signed better players than Cook or Kerkar for instance, or is that the standard we'll have to get used too?
As above, it's largely a myth that Millwall's ST prices were much dearer than ours pre-deadline, like for like. The main exception was behind the goal. Unless they go up 10 per cent this year, their top price will be cheaper than ours this time around. I don't think that matters, BTW, it's just people keep repeating they are dearer!

It'll make no difference, because the extra revenue is minimal next to the operating loss.
Conversly, unlikely now, but if we went on a run, scraped in to the play-offs and won them, would these prices be honoured for Premier League football?
The 75 mile ticket at Watford is interesting. Haven't seen that one before & know we always have a few comments about those who live further away & can't make all home games. Don't know how they run it logistically - i.e. when do you have to nominate the games you want to attend, to allow the club to sell the seat if not wanted? Potentially though, it gets revenue in early for the club & is a more realistic option for those living further away.
I know why people are quoting the comparators but to be honest what other clubs charge is not relevant to me. I only support charlton so palace and Millwall are of no interest. The only market that is relevant to my own purchase decisions and home economics is the one that I want to buy in. And the relevant statistic is that my Ticket will cost me 17.33% more than last year and allow me to infer (in the absence of information) that the base price for the following year will be substantially higher than that. All this at a time when people are feeling the pinch. I can't believe, as I think I saw suggested somewhere (it might not have been on this board) that the club is assuming that ST numbers will fall so they are pricing the die-hards to compensate for the assumed drop off. As I also mentioned on annother thread, I think a sign that we have some ambition will be necessary before people commit with the same ease as they did last year. An unfair comparison in some ways because the circumstances are different but that's where we are.

As long as you were as vociferous in your praise, when the prices dropped by approximately 17%, then that's fair enough.

I was actually (I wasn't a member on here at the time). But I wouldn't have paid championship/prem prices to watch league 1 and I suspect I would not have been alone. Fair play to the club for recognising that. Now it will take someone a nano second on here no doubt to point out that we have effectively paid league 1 prices this year for championship footy so I certainly expected a hike. But I expected this years full post-early bird price (£425) to be the early bird price this time round and I would not have uttered a murmur. But to inflate that by another 3.5% or whatever the figure is just doesn't seem to reflect the economic reality or the fact that we are not exactly exuding ambition. In the absence of any information the assumption must be that the post -early bird price in my case will be £490 (applying the same uplift as this year) means that the season afternoon next I can assume the early bird to be around £525. That's what we paid in the premier league! And the world has moved on!!!!! It would also mean a 40% rise in two years. All speculation of course but I'm not feeling loved and wanted by the club at the moment.

But why did prices drop 17%? Because the club "wanted to do us a favour" or because they knew with all the dross dished up from 2007 - 2011 even die-hard fans were beginning to think the unthinkable and stop buying season tickets? And surely would have done so if prices had not been reduced.

Maybe people stay away because they arent that interested so a free ticket has no value to them?
And we have to share cup reciepts with the away club and the FA or FL 40/40/20 so we would have to pay orient and huddersfield for the "free" tickets.
I'd rather have a cheaper ST and have the option to buy cup tickets (if we are drawn at home) if I want to.

That might not seem logical but that's why its important that the Club explains the prices increases clearly and in context.

IMO if it was made clear extra cash would be made available as a consequence people would be more understanding. Doubt this is the case though.
