Henry - As a VIP holder, I actually suggested the year 6 option in another thread. Wasn't an issue for me, if the club wanted to smooth out increases further, given that this economy is piling pressure on everyone's spending.
As a fellow VIP I agree and would prefer the 6th year option.
I just didn't want people blaming us for the price rise : - )
Don't care who slaughters me but this is a piss-take. If my maths are right (and it's not my strong point), my season ticket goes up by 17% (from £375 to £440). Know all the stuff about the club losing money hand over fist but at a time when my earnings are static and everything else is going up, rises like this are not justified. Maybe the club hasn't noticed that many people are in desperate financial straights at the moment.
I'll have a bet that less season tickets will be sold next season as a result of this, meaning that the amount of revenue brought in by these rises is less than expected.
Tin helmet on, I await the abuse!
No abuse but I think the £375 was the early bird price. I can't remember what the post deadline price was but I think it was £425. From that standpoint (and if I'm right which I'm not sure of) the increase is £15. But I can see where you are coming from.
The Club might argue that the £375 was a league 1 price and this is a Championship price but that doesn't make it any cheaper when you have to pay it.
Henry, you should be a politician "fiddling" the figures like this! Yes, the £375 was the earlybird price last year. But the £440 is the earlybird price for next year. You've got to compare these 2 earlybird figures to get a true percentage increase. You can't take the post deadline price for last year and compare that with the earlybird for next to get a true comparison.
Will be interesting to see what the post deadline price is for next year as that no doubt will be a forerunner of what is to come in 2014.
Well, the club might have different owners by then, so maybe not. The headline is surely "Charlton season tickets rise by up to 33 per cent" to anyone not in the pay of the club. Henry's headline is for an advertorial, not a news story.
In reality, the 2012/13 early bird prices are unrealistically low, VOTV has a table showing how ST prices have varied over the last few years, and my current £375 isn't a normal East Stand price in the Championship.
i know most on here wont have a prob with the rise, but for me going from 240 to 300 may mean i have to consider not reknewing, how much are the instalments on zebra? as i always paid cash in the past and wont be able to raise 300 sheets by the deadline
I think the club should set up a focus group made up of some fans reps, maybe former supporters' directors, the Club development officer, the CEO and the Executive Vice Chairman.
Then all these issues could be thrashed out in advance.
They could also talk about other promotions such as footballforafiver etc.
So if you buy a season ticket as an adult, the individual price of games varies from £10.87 to £19.13.
It seems to be people in the most expensive seats complaining. If £19.13 a game is too expensive for you to pay, would it be such a hardship to move the sides of the West (Upper) and East stands. Or you could even go behind the goal where you would save money on the price of your current season ticket.

I sit in the NWQ & paid £32.25 per month via Zebra for this seasons' ticket but I can't remember whether I paid over 6, 8 or 10 months (8 rings a bell)
given a reduction in household income and an increase in household spending (new family) I decided I would put money aside each month to cover the cost of my next season ticket so I was not short this time around (and wasn't paying pointless interest to Zebra Finance). Have been putting aside £25pcm and sit in Upper North so at £300 I called it right. Fair price IMO. It was unrealistic to expect anything less but much more would have put me (and I am sure many others) off from an affordability point.

What I did last season was to get a new credit card through one of the comparison sites with a 12 month introductory interest free period on it, buy the tickets and dump the card in a drawer not to be used again- interest free credit Simples!
Not too sure how many times I can do this before the drawer is full....
Not a happy bunny! Very poor communications from the club. All we have us the early bird price. For this to mean anything we also need the price after the early bird offer, the proposed match day ticket prices for next year and whatever prices will apply if we are relegated. Without these, this is just a punt. And its an expensive punt! I paid the early bird price for this year's ST (£375). I am now asked to pay £440 which is a 17.3% increase. That is a huge rise. Comparisons with what we paid the the last time round in the championship are spurious. The world has moved on in the last three or four years and most folk have less money or less security than they had then. The club has got this wrong I'm afraid. I will need to think long and hard.

Holding back on announcing the post-deadline prices is something we've done for years. It's not new.
