Nah the board are a fecking joke, 5 year plan? Too do what exactly? They could of least backed Powell with one decent signing during the window just too show a little bit of progression towards our supposed goal.
calm down. money is tight. think when powell first came in charge. that season he won four games on the trot. then we finished 13th. powell has said he just wanted us to stay up and so they could plan for the next. aim was too keep us up. then change things to push on for promotion the following season. same with this year and maybe even the next. we aint no southampton or whoever, each club is different. this time next year maybe start moaning but before that leave it yeah..
If the money ain't there the money ain't there. Do we want to get in more debt? I'd take 5 years of mid table mediocrity than 5 years of administration and relegation.
The board are a disgrace when Powell joined us after winning his first four we then went from a promotion winning position to our worst position ever or at least for many years and kept CP in place, then they had the audacity to fund him so that he could purchase a squad that was capable of winning the third division with record points and they were so disgusting that they paid in wages more than the club earned and now when we look like we are in a position that is probably odds on to be mid table obscurity they have the cheek to not waste any more money on purchases, although they may get some loans in. This board are awful, useless and have never backed the substituteless god that is chris powell

Fair point. However, what is slightly irritating is that for a very small figure (relatively speaking), you can sign players of a good standard for the champ. See Wordsworth, Ritchie, Quinn, et al.
However, if the money isn't there, it isn't there.
you can not make a silk purse etc etc etc ,,,we have no cash and CP is doing a good job
I feel if we dont get a cash injection we will struggle next year ,,,,but with CP at the helm and growing in experience will always keep us in the Championship or higher.

I laughed at this, I'm not sure whether I was supposed to...
As posted elsewhere there are 10 clubs in real shite in this division owing an average of £70M each! And the clubs relegated from the Prem are all below us (well they were last week). This board have sunk in £7M last season and another £7-8M this so maybe they have a game plan to let a few players go and invest enough over the summer in free agents and signings to push on? Here's hoping Powell gets the budget next season to take us to the next level
Personally I think the board see how inadequate Powell is with substitutions and how he gets out thought by managers during the game when they make their own subs, they don't trust him spending their money. Six points frittered away this week, expensive mistakes and no lessons learned from last week .

they like us might be unhappy with powells decisions or lack off with subs but i doubt that is why they wont give him any money to spend.
Powell is a novice Manager, and would benefit by having Paul Hart alongside him on match days rather than the pair he has at present. He has proved he has an eye for a player by his signings but has a lot to learn re when to Make subs where he has been out thought in the last two games by Messrs Jones and Holloway who are a lot more experienced. He needs Paul Hart.
How do we push for promotion next season if there's no money?
This is the real question. Pumping in 1m a month just to keep us ticking over but they want PL football in a couple of years. That isn't going to happen without investment in th team. If they don't in three years we will be where we are now but they would have spunked 36m up the wall. I have my opinion and have voiced it elsewhere.
So what I don't get then, is that for only a few hundred thousand you can add the likes of Matt Ritchie, Stephen Quinn and Anthony Wordsworth. If they are pumping in 1m, then the extra few hundred in the transfer window (those 3 went for reportedly just under 1m in total) may help to get us up near the top?
I second what bolloxbolder is saying. Today was a repeat of last week and a repeat of a number of other games this season.
Rather than defend a lead by attacking the opposition, Powell's tactic is to defend deeper and deeper and invite non stop pressure. He even adopted this tactic a few weeks back when the opposition had a man sent off after only 30mins. Every Charlton fan today could see what was going happen yet Powell refuses to do anything about it.
Well carly hope you enjoyed the deja vu moment today. Those who do not know the past, may be required to relive it.
Powell is not god sadly, just an inexperienced manager and it is costing us big time. My opinion so you'll have to put up with it.
By costing us big time, do you mean brought us a title winning season and now sees us sitting mid-table the next division up? Because then yes, truly we are reaping the whirlwind.
Would've liked to have seen someone come in, but will hopefully be surprised with a decent loan option.
I don't think it's the fact that we didn't spend a lot of money, it's just a lot of quality players like Ritchie, Wordsworth etc. were available a relatively cheap price (very cheap if they're the boost we need for top half/playoffs) and in the summer they'll be unavailable. A lot of the time, with expiring contracts January can be a good time to shop for players who's futures aren't sewn up and avoid the competition of more clubs when attempting to sign them on a bosman.
Hopefully we make 5-7 new additions this summer, getting rid of Powell's surplus of players who he believes can't cut it in the division and bringing in competitive players of the same work ethic as the group we've got now.

And sure could have brought that figure down with swap deal?

I have serious doubts about Powell.
Some of our support need to take a long hard look at themselves, because by the look of it - they're fucking deluded.
