Worst team I have seen us play this season until the 70th minute. We worked the ball round well in the midfield with Frimpong Stephens Jacko Wilson but didnt create much and what we did we squandered. Seabourne was hopeless first poor game for us but it noticed. Very suspect to pick Kermorgant over Hulse I think he could have made the difference. Strange subs as well. Oh well. Long trip home. They were there for the taking today.
Bingo ValleyGary - we are not a side that will blow people away each week and today was just one of those days. When you play a naturally cautious style, then it lends itself to looking clueless if the opposition take a couple of chances.
Onwards and upwards to the next game - no reason we cannot win it!
Run had to come to end at some point. Sounded a poor game, which we were edging until N'Gog and Petrov came on, both former Prem players. Couple of quality additions in January and we might make a late push for play offs
On the coach home. At 0-0 the game was in the balance. But we are so slow and ponderous when attacking it takes us so long to get any efforts on goal.
Of the chances we did have, Haynes headed wide when well placed and Yann forced Bogdan into a scrambling save. Wilson headed over in the second half, there were a couple of handball shouts and Bogdan appeared to carry the ball over the line. But by then Ngog had done the damage and that was that.
I thought Jacko was a bit off the pace and the only time Stephens showed any passion was when he was booked and when he waved at some mates at the end who had obviously come from Oldham.
Stil onwards to Hillsborough and hopefully 3 points.
Not too worried. We are set up to be tight which has led to this unbeaten run. A set piece or a bit of magic is potentially going to break us down and N'gog came on, and two bits of magic meant we lost. We'll continue to play in the same way and we'll win some and we'll lose some. The only thing that makes it a bit more galling is that we looked the better side and they looked poor but these things happen.
A couple of months ago I wasn't sure but, with every game I see, regardless of the outcome, I realise more and more that we now belong in the Championship.
On a happier note, I was in the programme and Charlton Life got a mention!
Spoke to a bloke on the walk to the ground who was school mates with Dale and said how he used to bang them in playing up front when he was younger. Maybe that's who he was waving to!
As for the game - Bolton were there for the taking, and their fans were getting on their backs reasonably early on as they have been through a bad patch. For some reason, we never really looked like we could finish a move and put the ball in the net. Crossing was very inconsistent too. Overall, we looked toothless.
It was the substitutions that made the difference. Bolton made theirs with about 30mins to go and we just couldn't handle Ngog, we made our with 10 to go and I doubt either of them really touched the ball. Our main form of attack was Hamer to Yann to a Bolton player. As someone has already said it was stalemate, then their subs........
wasn't there so not going to comment on the game, but now almost half way through the season and our top goal scorer has 4 goals (and thats a midfielder) with 3 strikers on 3 goals each and no one player has scored more than once during a game - awful statistics.
to my mind we are far too negative - but seeing as we are sitting midtable then can't really complain. It is really tight table and there are 12 teams from 6th downwards who are within 5 points of eachother and then a gap to the bottom 4........
massives are 1-0 up at h/t - I predict that they stop their losing streak and then go on to beat us next week. I think this will be a bad month for us.
Time for CP to get his thinking cap on............
On the train home. Have to say that Bolton were very ordinary, not sure why we didn't just go for it. Apart from Hayne's header did we trouble their keeper? Oh well, Wednesday next Saturday, resume our unbeaten ways then.
On the train home. Agree with the earlier commentsfrom LL.
Started 4-5-1, with Haynes on the left and Wilson on the right. We suffocated their play very effectively in the first half but we were limited to counter attacks. Haynes should have hit the target with a free header at the far post. Second half we started to control the midfield and the goal was coming. CP switched to 4-4-2 on 65 mins, with Haynes joining Kermorgant in search of the goal. But a decisive double substitution by Freedman, including NGog, turned the game.
Both goals were at the far end, so I'll reserve judgement on the reasons until I see the TV replay. However the first one looked a Premier League quality finish.
As others have said, it was there for the taking at 0-0. CP set out another sound game-plan, made a positive move to switch to 4-4-2 during the second half but was too slow with the substitutions. Also,if we are going to play one up front, Hulse looks the better Target Man. He holds it up better. Kermorgant plays better with a partner.
Is there any point suffocating the match with Haynes on? Have Kerkar on who can hit a few balls, then bring on Haynes for the last 30-35 mins. Kill the match then change it up. For me Haynes needs to be saved for home matches, especially with his fitness, and only impact when we need him away from home.

The sort of impact he had when he started and scored at Bristol City and Burnley, you mean?
a few more observations we had 8 corners and a number of free kicks, the majority of which were poorly delivered which is inexcusable, any of those could have made goal scoring opportunities. if the attacks weren't though Yann then they came down the right with Solly and Wilson, very little down our left. in the second half Bolton made most of their attacks down our left as they realised that was our weak side, we need Wiggy back.
First half it felt that both teams were cancelling each other out, both teams quickly getting plenty of men behind the ball as soon as the other team had possession. Most of our attacking moves went through Solly and Wilson on the right but the crosses weren't up to it, many ending up as throw-ins on the other side of the pitch. Yann and Haynes were not connecting as they were in completely different areas of the pitch Haynes playing wide left. Yann often holding up the long ball in the middle of the park.
I was hoping that SCP would change things round but this didn't happen and there was much of the same. The one time we did look like scoring JJ had got into the box. there were three handball penalty shouts, in many matches we might of got one of them. I'd also be interested to see if we did have the ball over the line at one stage as their goalie appeared to be well over the line when caught off balance.
Sad that a bunch of 'supporters' parked themselves behind me and my family and spent the whole of the 2nd half shouting 'c***s' at the bored Bolton faithful along with all the ,fight you outside, gestures. Just made the two Bolton goals all the more depressing. Surely theres room at the toolbox for kids like this.
Well lets hope theres a better atmosphere a lot more energy and a better system up front for the Wednesday game.
Wasn't at the game so obviously not going to say too much, but my observation is that Haynes never looks happy on the flanks. Granted he is very quick, but he lacks a few tricks for a genuine wide player IMO. He is a different player when pushed up playing as part of a front two. The fact he is being used as a wide player only highlights our deficiencies and I can only surmise that CP has decided he doesn't fancy Kerkar too much. A decent left midfielder has to be our priority in the transfer window.
It's strength in Championship(-and-PL)-quality-depth. From the sounds of it, their subs came on and made the difference which is where our subs will usually fail in comparison. Nothing we can do about it having had pretty much nothing to spend over the summer to strengthen our squad. I'm wondering if Powell's confidence in our subs' ability to change a game is the reason for him not making them so early.
Fingers crossed that that's where the January window comes in. Does anyone know what Hogan Ephraim and Anthony Wordsworth are up to?
I thought we looked like the only team that had any idea to try to play abit. They had some bears in their team but I really feel we should have had three points from there.Did anyone hear their crowd before they scored?
Negative going forward, Yann gave it his all but was all alone for most passages of play. 4-5-1 just looks beyond us to not concede and to score 1 goal. Was hoping for 4-4-2 which has worked in recent weeks. Surprised the team/tactics keep getting changed after a good run of form. Where is Cort? Dervite looks out of his depth against a lot of teams and Cort always seems to steady the ship. Tireless running from Haynes but needs to be played up front as he looks fairly clueless on the left.
Just seen the goals. Dervite turned inside out twice over by N'Gog for both goals. Exactly the same happened when I watched him in the last u21 Match. 4 goals conceded in two games. Back to what works please Powell - Cort and Morrison at back and Hulse up front.
saw the goals on telly and Dervite must be still spinning, he was ruined by Ngog and turned inside out for both, last time i saw that happen was Zaha ripping Wiggins a new one and he twisted himself an injury that he still hasn't recovered from
don't think we've deserved much from our last few games but came away with points , so today was on the cards
not as convinced as some by Danny Haynes , think his pace would be best used as a sub against tiring defenders don't think he is good enough to be a regular starter
more than happy with our league position and then i look at the scum and palace and it really does take the shine of us .... ffs lets stop being south londons wooden spoonists

Don't get too carry away when we win and don't get too downhearted when we lose.
Mid table obscurity and a nice cup run is a likely outcome.
Look forward to the views of those there as it sounds like we had chances.
