We had a five quid programme, very handy with a big away support, not as big a publication mind as the handbook five quid programme we have at the start of the season. The celebrations only included any reference to Steve Gritt and Alan Curbishley on the film, but their part in that first game could have been highlighted more...I wonder if they were invited, nobody mentioned them. So we had no mention of Peter Varney, a mention of Rick being spiked from Wendys piece in the programme, and some bloke called John Hampshire (?) to represent the fans who worked so hard for our return. Not sure he has ever appeared on my personal radar, but as one such fan he was 'representing' I can think of dozens of more notable fans who could've been that representative, fans whose names and faces I would have known, for example Wendy Perfect. I did like it that Brighton folk were invited to join in, I really wish the Charlton folk had been more comprehensive. Well done Richard Murray for saying how utterly significant Voice of the Valley was in the whole campaign to return home.
Just read Slaters page and though his import is very not often, I don't see a problem with his latest page.
I don't think there is a problem with it. Except that if the chairman's going to write a page in the programme you'd think he'd have something to say relevant to his position as chairman, rather than just a series of platitudes about the Championship and some facts he appears to have got out of a book.
Actually, I'd like to say well done to Matt on the programme. He and I had a bit of a nightmare on the one ten years ago in terms of the workload, working straight through the night and the next day to get it to the printers, as I know he will recall. These things are a big job and it gets more difficult to be original each time. It's only slightly undermined by the schoolboy politics under which it's been produced.

I still got something in, mind. Page 75.
Page 75? Are you a mascot on Boxing day, or are you going to leave a happy Xmas message for someone?
RM did mention the Voice of The Valley and thanked the people behind it for their efforts which help push us back home
in the words of take that 'Never Forget where you've come here from'
It was fairly obvious who he was thanking there.
Indeed, killerandflash. What a true gentleman and loyal supporter of our football club.
Airman - please may I register for the 1st edition of the new, improved ( as if it could be!) VOTV ? And will you be at Waterstones in Bluewater to sign it for me ?
Richard Murray was succinct and diplomatic. It would have been awkward and inappropriate to say any more than he did, but it isn't hard to read between the lines. We have a sort of parallel universe going on at the club. There's the on-pitch stuff, which is clearly on the up, and in good hands, and there's the off-pitch stuff which is [ insert word of your choice here ]. We'll see both played out in the months ahead. Thankfully, we now have a Supporters' Trust to shine a spotlight into the murk.
It was great to hear RM today and I thought he trod a very fine line with good diplomatic skill. I just don't know how much power and influence he wields on the board these days (would be very interested in Airman's take on this point) but I for one am delighted he is still there and long may it continue.

RM had a mic in his hand and the crowds attention. Nothing to stop him namechecking any one but he obviously didnt feel the need to.

Airman - do you think the first edition will be ready for the Ipswich game on Boxing Day? I am back in the country then.

RM, ever the diplomat, managed to get his thanks across without mentioning a single name.
