  • I thought it was a very amusing comment in the circumstances
  • Haven't seen the programme but did hear a director praise the people who set up Voice of the Valley and mention the communication between directors and fans.

  • "When The Valley was closed in 1985, fans only found out when they turned up for the home match against Palace on September 7th and were handed a leaflet advising them of the decision and how to get to Selhurst Park. And to think that some people now question the current board's level of communication with fans!"
  • Or perhaps that's WHY some people "now question the current board's level of communication with fans" - we don't want to get caught out like that again.

Not just a director, Henry, but the only one able to express any useful opinion on the return to The Valley, and the one person at the club apart from TJ who is not accountable to Michael Slater. And what Richard said, of course, was carefully considered, highly political, and I thank him for it.

I'd also like to thank Peter Cordwell, who refused to participate in the balloon release on the basis that he wouldn't be involved if I wasn't invited, and Wendy Perfect, whose reference to me in her programme article was deleted.

Why wasn't Wendy out there on the pitch representing Valley Gold, the Valley Party, the VIP directors, CASC or even our female support as a whole, I wonder?

Anyway, that really doesn't matter. You know I'm at loggerheads with the regime and that Wendy is an ally of mine. There were plenty of people who were honoured today and rightly so. But I'd like to mention one person in particular who has contributed more to the last 20 years at Charlton than almost all those on the pitch today - Peter Varney.

He's another non-person under the current regime and wasn't involved today. As far as I can see he isn't mentioned in the programme either, although Colin Walsh pointed out how important he has been over the last 20 years in the interview he did with the KM. I wonder if that singular omission will finally persuade some of the doubters that the circumstances of Peter's departure from the club and current relationship with it are very rum indeed.

Regardless of that, I'm pleased to announce that Peter has written a substantial piece for the new edition of Voice of The Valley, coming to a street corner near you very soon. I'm sure that's one piece of communication Mr Slater will look forward to keenly.

  • Not just Michael Slater Rick.
  • When will VOTV hit the streets again, Airman?
  • I would have liked to give Wendy Perfect, Peter Varney and Rick Everitt a round of applause today.

Maybe in the future, under different circumstances, there can be some acknowledgement.

You never know, maybe some future involvement in the club set up as well.
  • While we're talking about communication does anyone else follow Richard Cawley from the SLP on twitter?

None of the usual feedback from CPs presser yesterday and no mention of the game or result today.

    Seems odd

Probably been banned for his 'exclusive' on the Koc takeover

I too thought this was bad that someone of Peter's standing and contribution to the club was left out. I also thought that you also Airman would be given some recognition for the back to the valley campaign, but then the new regime don't know what it was like to pull weeds from the over grown pitch to and raise the club from it's knees back home. I look forward to seeing his piece in voice of the valley soon.
