2-1 to Huddersfield, as our inconsistent home form continues. I still can't believe that some people are now expecting us to get promotion!! There are a lot of teams in this division of a similar or better standard than us & I am still hoping for us to finish somewhere in the middle of the pack.
Not sure anybody is expecting us to get promotion just enjoying life and thinking why not, if you can't enjoy the good times what really is the point of being a football fan.
It's all about keeping our shape and discipline all over the field but especially at the back and midfield. I think CP is getting it and we're starting to look more like the rock from last year. 1-0 to us.
Expecting is too strong a word, but acknowledging that it is a possibility is reasonable IMO. I think some fans have an inflated view of the league - surely our away form points to us being strong. I have said- we have to crack the home form to give us a chance but the strengthening of the squad through acquisitions and returning players has made this possible.
Pritchard was saying that being the underdog is what helps them win (away) which is obviously difficult at home with all the support around. It is a mental thing and the way the crowd supports on saturday is crucial to the outcome even if we score first. The north stand have to be singing continuously and the those of us elsewhere have to stand up and be counted . The support has been excellent these last three games and we have to make it matter on saturday. You need characters in the team to keep everyone playing well until the final whistle and unfortunately Jackson is usually substituted when galvanising the team at the end of the game really does matter. You need at least a leader in defence (morrison), midfield (jackson and then who?) up front (hulse has the makings of a leader ). With leaders throughout the team you can win consistently as complacency is never allowed to set in. I go for a win.
2-2 draw for me, although hoping for all three points.
I would expect an unchanged team except for Stevo back in at the Egg man's expense. Frimpong and Ric on the bench, and both play important late roles, combining for Ric to shoot a late equaliser.
When I mentioned our signing of Frimpong and the possible displacing of Jackson he simply replied 'but you're winning, why change it?' Have to agree. Unchanged side, with Frimpong to put the b in dench (that's the last time I'm ever typing that word). I think Hudds will cause us a lot of problems and we'll do well to get a point, but I think on our form we'll battle for it. A point ahead of a strong performance against Peterborough will do me just fine
Stephens for Egg with Fuller and Frimp on the bench. This league is full of surprises and whilst I'm worried by our optimism I go for another surprise - a Charlton win at home by one goal but no clean sheet.
I say get the strongest team we have on paper out there and make sure we get control of the midfield.
I want to find a place for Frimpong as you dont bring a player like him in to leave on the bench. Otherwise, it will be back to Arsenal in a flash and there is no point having him.
Think I would go for Stephens, Frimpong, Jacko, and Kerkar. With Haynes pulling out wide rigth when needed, and Solly bombing forward to allow for the fact we will be slightly narrow on that side.
Hard game - I prefer it when nobody expects us to get anything. Cos we usually pull something out the bag (eg Cardiff, Burnley, Wolves etc).
Thus - going for 1-1 which would be a good result.
Huddersfield to remind us why we are 14th and they are 8th, only recently dropping out of playoff places, while we have only just risen from relegation fodder places. 1 or 2 nil to them as our sloppy-at-home form continues and the ref isn't on our side. Much shoulder shrugging and "lets move on and get Peterborough" ensues.
Comments
We go a goal down only for Haynes and Jackson to bring us the points.
P'raps we might even win it. After all someone's got to win it (unless it's a draw) so why shouldn't it be us?
Haynes and Hulse with the goals either side of the break.
Frimpong will also have some DENCH play in the midfield.
I go for a win.
As for the score, I think we'll nick it 1-0

Then we'll hammer Posh 4-1, by the way.
Stephens, Hulse

Play a 4-3-3
Hamer
Solly Morrison Cort Seaborne
Pritchard Stephens Jackson
Haynes Hulse Kerkar
