Wagstaff is back.

  • My point has always been that there is very little between Wagstaff and Green. The stats back that up, as do the match ratings and range of opinions on here.

Why is he still expected to play like a winger? Pritchard's doing a good job in that position without beating full backs, swinging in crosses or scoring goals.
  • Did CP really recall him....or did the loan expire? An Orient supporter I work with said he wasn't any good and they weren't interested in extending the loan! Wouldn't surprise me in the least if he gets a permanent move in January.
  • Loan expired. If no one wants him, Henry will take him home :-)

  • Wagstaff frustrates me because he never puts the ball in early when there are players calling for it when on the run, Green frustrates me because if he doesn't put it in early and gets to the goal line he will put it in the box buut wont look to see if anyone is where he is putting it. Green is a very natural player, but unless he has a lot of space to put the cross in he won't look up to aim at anyone.

Also, one of my mates goes to the O's a lot and I asked him about Waggy, he said that he is big quick and strong and has been unfortunate not to score (at least one ruled out for a phantom offside). The big and strong part of that comment is promising in my opinion as I always felt that the way he plays he needed to be stronger, so hopefully he will have come back as a new and improved player.

Danny G. has hardly had an appalling start to this season though? Scored a screamer at Derby and has a few assists.
You can't put scott in the same league as Danny.
Greeny has produced in the past year and a bit when we needed him to, all along waggy has done(Bar one goal v. AFCB) is strop like a little kid.
  • That and track back. And give the team a boost at the crucial tail end of the season.

Do we really have to like one player in a position and hate the other? Surely nice to have a couple of options, one high tempo and direct one with a better cross and an endearing belief that he delivers a long throw.

Yet they have a similar number of goals and assists? With Wagstaff playing less minutes and making less starts.

They clearly are in the same league, they just play on very different ways.

    Bang on.
  • It was only a month and a half ago that many on here were applauding Green for what a great step up he had made with the performances he put in against Derby and Blackburn Rovers.

  • The way I see it is quite simple. Wagstaff gives Powell another option should he need one.
  • Wagstaff & Green is a bit like X factor v Strictly , which ones Waggy?
  • Chris Powell's view on Wagstaff's loan

  • i think we can safely say - they may have been quite happy with him? lol

They were very happy with him,” said Powell. “He got them out of a position where they lost a player who we know well in Kevin Lisbie, who was out injured for four weeks. so they needed a player who had energy and pace.

“It helped them and it helped Scott get into a good place of playing regularly. We watched him and they were very complimentary about him as a player and a young man with the way he approached it and approached training, so it did him the world of good.

“I spoke to Russell Slade and they were very happy with him, but they were at League One level where they can’t have as big a squad as maybe we can and Kevin Lisbie is fit now. They were very happy with him and it got Scott in a good place of playing regularly.
  • It's all a bit mute anyway as Wilson seems pretty clearly first choice now, but Waggy is the most natural replacement for him in terms of playing style.

I do wish Waggy had a better cross on him and was a bit more robust physically, but it's nonsense to suggest him or Green are significantly better or worse than one another because they are not really the same type of player.

Well one's got all the class and the other is young, exciting, bundles of energy but in the scheme of things, pointless.
