Players Marks: Charlton v Cardiff

  • Hamer 6 A bit shaky and possibly at fault for their second goal as I think he could have claimed it rather than punch it into Mason's path

Morrison 6 Did his job defensively. A centreback is not going to overlap and cross that effectively!

    Cort 6 Reasonably solid

Devite 6.5 Gives us a welcome bit of physical presence. I like him.

Solly 7.5 Contained one of the best wingers in this league whilst playing out of position. Enough said.

Haynes 7.5 His pace frightened their back 4. I really hope he can stay injury free.

Pritchard 8 Covered every blade of grass and more. Works incredibly hard.

Stephens 7 6 first half 8 second half.

Jackson 7.5 Led by example. The goals speak for themselves but he worked very hard too.

Kerkar 7 Some great deliveries and trickery and works hard for a winger.

Hulse 7 Hardworking performance and thoroughly deserved his goal
  • Hamer - 6 did OK but still flapping needs coaching for set pieces
    Morrison - 7 solid
    Cort - 7 solid
Devite- 7 better than sat, is this his best position?
Solly 8.5 our best player this season by a mile
Haynes - 9 - handful with his pace, MOM
Pritchard - 8 100% effort needs a more experienced partner
Stephens - 8 stepped up tonite to be what he can be every week
Jackson - 8 composed when mattered his contribution made the difference
Kerkar - 6 can be too casual on ball holds on so gets pocket picked too often
Hulse - 7 good and solid
SWPhillips - 5 sorry just not good enough for this league, our threat and pace was lost when Haynes came off and they got back into it more.
    Hollands - n/a
SIR CHRIS - 9 half time talk did the trick

Haynes 8.5 pace, hunger, more please
Pritchard 8 worked his socks off again, looked done in at the end
Stephens 8 fab goal, really intelligent play, read game well.
Jackson 7.5 showed some leadership, nabbed 2 goals.
Kerkar 8 battled tonight, warming to him, didn't feel that he was going to give the ball away every time he got it like Saturday
    Hulse 8

Support 9 (full marks for Covered End - not 10 because we can all do better)

Hamer - 5 - Not at his best but sure this result will do the trick
Morrison - 6 Not comfortable at rb but fortunately Cardiff didn't capitalize
Cort - 7 - Did a lot offensively too and tired at end
Dervite - 6 - oplid though I think we need to go back to Morro - Cort
Solly - 7 - Not his best defensively but Cardiff were good offensively, great offensive play.
Haynes - 8 - Cardiff slowes defence I have seen - he terrified them
Pritchard - 8.5 - Run himself into the ground and good quality too
Stephens - 9 MOTM - Fantastic display - had everything - tackling, passing pace I didn't know he had (but maybe an illusion as Cardiff had none). But this is his marker
Jackson - 8 - Started poorly but showed his class and got us back in it
    Kerkar - 8 - Good game
Hulse - 8 - Made first and got another - what isn't there to like

Crowd -10 Instead of moaning at the players when things weren't going our way, they kept backing Powell and the boys - magnificent - made me proud to be a Charlton fan.

  • Hamer 7- some quality stops but seemed a little cautious when coming out for the ball, loved it where he took the ball of of noone and ran over to the other side of the box to waste time, great character
Morrison-6.5 out of position, nervy start, grew into the position well, better cb than rb
Cort-7 for 75 minutes of the game he looked quality , mad 25 minutes at the start and beginning
Solly- 7 dealt with noone well, had some uncharacteristic nervy moments but quality as usual
Dervite- 7 - looked decent, some hard challenges and isn't afraid to throw himself about
Stephens- 8 ( pure class) payed special attention to his performance tonight and just realised what a class player he is , ran the show for me MOTM
Pritchard- 8 ran his socks off as per usual, received unfair criticism at times, will be a quality player in the future, hate to hear people slagging him off, remember , he's young and raw
Jacko- 7 gave him higher for his two goals but was still a spectator for periods, needs to be more involved
Haynes- 8 what we've been missing, pace , flair and strength, really enjoyed watching him and when he's on the ball you believe things will happen
Hulse -8 - quality, led line well
Kerkar 7.5 - very tricky, put in some decent crosses, lacks bit of pace
  • Hamer 5 -not commanding enough and insisted on punching when he should have come out to claim with two hands. Must learn how to buy the foul when barged and trust the referee to call the foul. Having said that our first goal looked like a foul on their keeper.
Morro 5- some good blocks and effort but shaky performance although played out of position and coped - just .
Cort - 4.5 exactly the same as morro but half a point less for performance given in position and for allowing two heart stopping goals to be conceded in injury time both of which he was to blame for.
Dervite- 5.5 curate's egg performance and must take part of blame for conceding 4.
Solly 6 - great effort and improvement on Saturday . Love his quick reaction ability to read the game and nip in for challenges also his enthusiasm for attacking.
Jackson 7.5 - never gave up and 2 quality finishes
Stephens 8.5 - best performance that I can remember in a Charlton shirt ,direct commanding accurate passer and contributed so much more than usual .Gave a performance that I hoped but did not dare believe he could actually give.
Pritchard 8 - dynamic and enthusiastic ,a real nuisance to Cardiff buzzing around getting in the way . Some great passes and vision but a fraction off the pace at times towards end in particular but understandable due to effort expended.
Kerkar 8 - tricky skillful and contributed much more but end product has still got to improve.
Haynes 9.25 excellent performance.goal and brilliant effort overall but the most important aspect of our entire team is his pace .we have a chance when he is in that form and attacks with speed causing havoc . We are half the team without his pace.
Hulse 8.5. - Trojan and a real handful . Goal well taken and won battles with Hudson and turner in what became a one sided second half contest.

  • Hamer - 7. Eight goals shipped in two games, but I didn't think he was particularly at fault for any of them. Couple of good stops last night too.
Morrison - 6. Out of position, but coped pretty well. He's probably thankful that Bellamy wasn't available for them.
Cort - 5.5. Not quite as solid as usual, but if you think he's slow, Hudson and Turner for Cardiff are real cart horses!
Dervite - 5.5. Started poorly; beaten in the air regularly in the 1st half, but really picked his game up. Some good blocks and his distribution is quite good.
Solly - 8. What can I say. Easily our player of the season so far. Superb.
Haynes - 7.5. Love that pace, really exposed Cardiff's defence and a cracking goal.
Pritchard - 7.5. Energy, stamina, what does Pritch have for breakfast?
Stephens - Mom. 8.5. His best game for us. Quality.
Jackson - 7. Really helped our makeshift back four and his two goals were invaluable. That's more like it Jacko.
Kerkar - 6. Two killer balls for Jacko's second and Rob Hulse's goal.
Hulse - 8. Immense. Can we sign him permanently?

The crowd: 10. sang their hearts out even when 2-0 down. Worth an extra man!
  • Hamer 4 Flaped to often tonight, left defence unsure.
Morrison 4 Whole defence at fault for the first goal, no one moved, Morrison is not right back.
Cort 4 His headers toward the end seemed to go to the opposition to much.
Devite 4 Seemed at a loss in the first half, did get a bit better second
Solly 5 Again a poor show from Solly at the back did ok going forward.
Haynes 8 His best performance for us, terrorised their defence, and delivered good crosses
Pritchard 7 Haried every one , and made some good passes
Stephens 7 A good creative game, and fought for the ball
Jackson 7 until the two goals seemed a bit out of the game at first
Kerkar 7 great going down the left wing, about 50% of his crosses where good needs to up this part of his game
    Hulse 7 Hard working performance.
Sorry the team switched off in the extra time added on, took the gloss of the win.

  • Hamer - 6.5
    Morrison - 7
    Cort - 6.5
    Devite 6.5
    Solly 7
    Haynes - 8.5
    Pritchard - 8.5
    Stephens - 9
    Jackson - 8.5
    Kerkar - 8
    Hulse 8.5
  • A lot of scoring based on the result rather than performance IMHO

Hamer 4 Beaten near post for the first, flapped at the second, hopeless lunge for the third and a bit of flapping in between. If it had been a 4 nil defeat he'd have been getting a load of ones, but also made a few good claims. Shakey spell.
Morrison 5 At least people who weren't at Stevenage know what we mean now. Looked as comfortable as a walrus on a unicycle.
Cort 6 Weak clearance for the second, but stood strong thereafter
Devite 4 Some good blocks, but so poor in the air for a big guy.
Solly 8 cannot fault him. Tenacious in the tackle and a driving force going forward.
Haynes 7.5 Pace and movement, snatched at a couple of shots from decent positions
Pritchard 8 Incredible work rate drove the team on and made the decisive fourth
Stephens 6.5 Comedy goal aside was more like his old self driving forward in the second half. Still giving it away a lot.
Jackson 6 Suspect marking for the first two and occasionally looked lazy in tracking back, but drove us back into it.
Kerkar 8 Looks a real find. Three assists from a player that lacks end product!
Hulse 8 Strong and hard working, unlucky not to get a goal when he beat Marshall, but took his chance well

BWP Decent showing, unlucky not to get amongst the goals

SCP 1 Unfortunately I had to dock 8 points because my enjoyment of the game was sucked away by the chugstain behind me who constantly repeated "ees a centre back, joke, shit, sawt it art Pawel" on a loop for the first 35 minutes then shut up until full time when he proclaimed the whole amazing thing a "joke".
  • Hamer 5 Below par
Morrison 6 Gets an extra point for playing out of position and still managing to contribute
Cort 5 Does not look as commanding as earlier in the season
Devite 5 At fault for the first goal ,improved in the second half
Solly 7 Out of position ,but is starting to look good going forward as a left back.Would like to see him move back to the right as soon as possible
Haynes 8 Really looked the part ,I think he was taken off as a precaution.I suspect if his injury record was better he would be in the Premier League.Like Fuller we need to somehow keep him fit if possible
Pritchard 8 Much better game from him
Stephens 8 Ran the show at times
Jackson 9 Really rolled his sleeves up ,looks so much better in cm.
Kerkar 8 He gives us another left footed corner taker and his crosses looked more effective last night as he provided some assists.
Hulse 8 Seems he is a Marmite player.Personally I like him and two goals in four games is not a bad return at this level and now he has had this run of games we should see him improve further.

BWP Does not look as good as Haynes
Hollands I was hoping to see either or both of Azeez and Fox come on but after the late goals I'm pleased that they didn't.
  • Hamer 4.5 needs to stop shouting at everyone and get on with his job. I sit behind the goal in the North and Cort is always gesticulating that he cannot hear Hamer call.
Morrison 6.5 out of position but did OK although his central defenders instinct to drift inside did cause a couple of problems
Cort 6.5 did OK until extra time
Devite 7.0 got better as the game went on and can play a bit
Solly 7.5 Always solid his bad game is everyone elses good game
Haynes 7.5 Pace, pace, pace really gave the Cardiff defence problems I hope he's fir for Sunday
    Pritchard 7.5 didn't stop working
Stephens 9 MOM and the best he has ever played for us
Jackson 7.5 Two good goals got us back into it and his best match this season
Kerkar 7.5 Man has magic feet can beat a player on a sixpence is he could improve the final delivery he will be great for us
Hulse 8.0 Just for his work rate, hold up play he was a handfull all night

Wright Phillips n/a worked hard whe he came on but tens to get bullied easily
Hollands n/a no idea why he was bought on all it did was unsettle things...not his fault

Hamer 5 Starting to look uncomfortable with the constant changes to the back 4 personnel & positional wise in front of him.
Morrison 5.5 Main attributes wasted at right back not comfortable when trying to get forward.
Cort 5 Sorely missed his usual partner in centre of defence must shoulder more blame for another 4 goals against
Devite 5 Missed two route one balls for 2 late goals and 2 defenders were moved from their favoured positions to accommodate him!
Solly 6 Only half the player last night on his wrong side extra half point for the ball to Pritchard to then set up Haynes for 4th goal.
Haynes 6.5 Not a RM but offered a goal threat when pushed in alongside Hulse took his goal well.
Pritchard 7 Worked tirelessly kept getting a second wind from somewhere! Great bit of skill with his assit for Haynes.
Stephens 8 MOM brilliant 2nd half performance to silence his doubters..........for the time being.
Jackson 7.5 Two extra points for goals to get us back in the game minus half a point for being at fault for 1st goal.
Kerkar 7 Extra point for 2 assists wish he would lay it of earlier sometimes.
Hulse 7.5 Led the line well and good finish for his goal which proved to be the winner. Confidence problem? You're having a laugh.

Crowd 9.5 Half a point off for jeering Stephens 1st half when made a loose pass outside their box. Weaker minded individuals would have crumbled.

  • Hamer - 6 He was flapping tonight, but that's confidence; like after Colchester/Notts last year; taking a battering ('boro on Sat) seems to mess his confidence up.
Morrison - 7 Why was he RB? Nevermind though, he did try his best - I wouldn't make a habit of playing him out of CB though!
Cort - 7 He made a mistake or two and wasn't imposing himself as he usually would, but he still had a solid presence
Devite - 6 Blame him for the first goal unfortunately
Solly - 8 He seemed to be in control for a lot of the game, and got up front, overlapping as support for attacks as usual.
Haynes - 9 He's bloody fast and looked to be giving Cardiff a real hard time, when he went off I think it affected our whole style of play to be honest.
Pritchard - 9 He was all over the place, lots of pace and isn't afraid to get stuck in.
Stephens - 8 One of the better games I've seen of him, a clever free-kick and a dominant force in midfield
Jackson - 8 Play him in CM from now on? Best performance I've seen from him in a while, he looked fitter and was key in our fight-back
Kerkar - 8 This guy worries the hell out of me.. I always expect him to lose possession with his fancy little tricks and awkward style. He's brilliant though!
Hulse - 8 Played really well, put in a real shift and deserved a goal. I don't think this is going to be a striker that grabs a load of goals, but he has a brilliant workrate.

Over all I think the team worked very well today. Perhaps the key man for me was Haynes though, his pace seemed to split their defence up at times - and combined with Hulse who could hold the ball up a bit; it was a killer combo. A special shout out goes to Pritchard for putting in a real shift and constantly running, dominating and setting attacks up.

Hamer - 5.5 - Flapped a lot. Looks low in confidence, poor positioning, can't catch, moaning a lot.
Morrison - 6.0 - Out of position, played well considering.
    Cort - 6.0 - Usual steady performance.
Devite - 7.0 - Got around the place well.
Solly - 6.0 - Left a few gaps for their RW - but he was fast! Doesn't suit being played out of position.
Haynes - 8.0 - His pace was amazing and his skill.
Pritchard - 8.5 - Didn't give up once - was "everywhere". Creative ideas - bit tired at the end maybe should have been subbed.
Stephens - 8.0 - Made few mistakes but intelligent passing and vision. Should have had a go at goal when clear through. Great free kick!
Jackson - 7.5 - Great finishing. Played well tonight in that position.
Kerkar - 7.5 - Great crossing (not overhit for a change). Sometimes dwells too long before passing. Intelligent player.
Hulse - 8.0 - Ran his socks off. Good to see him get a goal with his head. Improving every game.

Pritchard - 7 lot better second half just wish he would hit a few challenges rather than try blocking lacks pace
Stephens - 8 better 2nd half set the tempo crunch into tackles became the heartbeat we clearly lack keep it up
Jackson - 7 put the boot in a bit more than usual and clawed us back with 2 goals
Kerkar - 7 played some nice crosses just wish he had a yard of pace

Hamer - 5.5 - Flapped a lot but a couple of good saves
Morrison - 6 - Too narrow but did decent enough out of position
Cort - 5 - Needs Morro back in the middle with him
Devite - 6 - Looked pretty solid, a very good player to have
    Solly - 6 - Defended reasonably well
Haynes - 9 - MOM his pace scared the hell out of their defence but there is nothing you can do against pace like that
Pritchard - 8.5 - Absolutely brilliant tonight, worked so hard and put on a great performance
Stephens - 8 - His best performance all season. If he can do that consistently then he will be a good player for us this season
Jackson - 8 - two good goals, definitely a good head to have in and around the team
Kerkar - 7.5 - I really like Kerkar, thought he played well tonight with some good runs and very good crossing
Hulse - 7.5 - Held the ball up well and got himself a goal
