    Can see us going 3-5-1-1

    Hamer

    Cort
    Morrison
    Dervite

    Solly - Wing back
    Kerker - Wing back

    Hollands
    Pritchard
    Jackson

    Stephens

    Hulse

    1-1.
  • Quote from the BBC web site - "Three goals featured in the last 11 minutes of this corresponding fixture in April, which ended 2-2. " - some of these jounalists take the biscuit.
  • I would play dervite at LB as he has played there before with solly cort morro. I would play 5 in midfield, Haynes on the right, green on the left with pritch and hollands in the centre with stephens playing slightly higher supporting BWP where possible.

I see that Jordan Cousins wasn't in the squad, perhaps he is going to play right back with Solly left back.

    injured

  • Should play em in our away kit and force them to wear red.

  • 0-2 defeat

BBC Football online is not worth reading. The stats they do is usually based on a guy in an office listening to the radio or CAFC player. So many errors and huge gaps in stat entries. They had Charlton as having 8 attempts in total on Sat, they had 6 in the first half. Reception must have been poor!
  • Wow stig your depressing!
  • Certainly don't think tonight's a foregone conclusion. We've shown enough in recent away matches to suggest that this team is capable of competing at this level, we just need to get things right tactically in home games. Lengthy injury list is certainly not helping either.

Much as I'd like to see us come out all guns blazing, if I was CP I think I'd be tempted to do what Lord Curbs would have done - go with an ultra-defensive set up in order to stop the rot and give us a morale-boosting 0-0 to take into the Bristol City game.

Hope the crowd sticks with the team and manager, regardless of the result.
  • I have to say that I'm not looking forward to this one with any real hope, in fact dread would describe it better after Saturdays performance. I'm hoping that the individual errors were largely down to the constant tactical changes, it would be hard to attribute Cort's errors to that though. If Cort was carrying a knock or a bug etc fair enough, otherwise I'd be surprised if he starts, Dervite may just start at centre back. We looked nervous on the ball once we went one up and Middlesbrough started running at us and upped the tempo.

I agree with the many posts above about an extra man in midfield, how we could do with Keith Jones now. The left back spot is a real problem, I would bring Hughes back either to play there (I know he’s right footed but what other options are there?) or as a holding midfielder that lets Hollands and Stephens get forward and do what they are best at. If Hughes goes into midfield then the only option I can see for left back is Jackson (mad I know). It will be a tough ask of the manager tonight, let s not read too much into it, hold our nerve and get behind the team.

Sack Chris Powell = Bo lax
  • I feel sick just reading this. I might pretend to be ill and get a note from matron to say I've got to stay at home.
    1-3
  • Unless SCP goes with the away formation/set up we're gonna get a tonking how many will depend on how much fun cardiff wanna have but not less than Nil - 3.
Who SCP has to choose from for the necessary 4-1-4-1 ain't easy to predict.
We can't expect good things from so many square pegs in round holes.
We can't expect relatively young & inexperienced players to give of their best in 2 or 3 roles per game, just ask Dorian Dervite. If the execrable Stephens features before injury time Cardiff could go for double figures.
We should go smthn like (subject to availability) Hamer; Solly Jackson Taylor Cort; Dervite; Haynes Pritchard Hollands Kerkar; Hulse. with cousins morrison green bover bwp probably on the bench. Haynes & Kerkar have to keep whitewash on their boots when we've got the ball and be back doubling up with Solly & JJ when the taffs have it.
Any square pegs or loafers and we'll be lucky to get away with a 4 goal margin of defeat.
It's already been posted but if the execrable stephens features before the 91st minute cardiff will be able to go for broke and SCP might as well hold up a sign saying "sorry haven't got a clue"

the only person that hasnt got a clue is you mate!

To be fair, I think they're right on every detail except it happened in April 2009, not 2012.
  • well we must be going into this game with the most pessimistic fans ever. Saturday was the only time we have lost by more than one goal. Cort and morrison will not play as badly again. A tight game I reckon

Pretty sure that Hughes isn't fit yet so that's a no no.

And Keith Jones ??? A very decent midfielder indeed but wasn't he relentlessly criticised for his crablike, sideways passing ?

  • Cardiff will take to the pitch without injured trio Jordon Mutch, Craig Bellamy and Tommy Smith.
  • I think that more faith should be put in the players that got us up, for example Green and Hollands should be included. There is no way a team that wins League One in the manor we did should be going straight back down.

Hamer, Solly, Morrison, Cort, Jackson, Green, Hollands, Stephens, Kerkar, Hulse, BWP for me.

Please don't discourage him from posting. Imagining that Stig Thundercock is his actual name gives me an all too rare feelgood moment.
  • i predicted 1-3 Saturday and was close....got a feeling we will win this one though going for 1-0 to the addicks. Would love to see a midfield of green pritchard dervite cook with hulse and haynes up top.

Hughes - now that is a shame, typical of our recent luck.

Jones - sideways and backwards but always to a red shirt (even if we were away :D) IMO exactly what we need right now, very underrated player.
  • One thing I do know about tonight is it'll be f*****g freezing!
