It's a terrible situation, teachers work under different rules as they have the ability to unduly influence children which other professions don't, so even if she was 16 it would still be very wrong. However tempted you might be, the obligation is on the teacher to say no. If I was to have sex with a 16 year old, it might be morally dubious, but wouldn't be illegal.

We can pontificate about what if's, for me it is fairly simple. There are limits to what is acceptable and this is totally outside those limits.
Teachers forming relationships with those they teach is just wrong, it is a massive breach of trust.
Somebody phoned up this morning on 5 Live and told a tale of a relationship they had as a 14/15 year old with a 37 year old teacher. He groomed her, he used adult v child pressure, he involved her friend by bringing her friend along as well and then leaving her downstairs whilst he had sex upstairs. He got both to cover it up and the girl - now herself 37 years old has been affected by, and continues to be affected by what went on. The bloke, as far as she is aware, is still around and until recently lived at the same place.
These are very serious matters. At aged 15, 16, 17 even if the person may be sexually mature they are certainly not emotionally mature. Girls (and boys) of this age are often easily influenced by adults who take them seriously and show them adult affection. It is at the most vulnerable time as young people move into the foothills of adulthood. Teacher know this, they more than perhaps any other group of adults know this. That is why its wrong and why this person needs to be stopped.
The young girl will need some support because her feelings will be very mixed, especially in the coming weeks and months. She will feel protective towards the Teacher and not want him to be punished. Unfortunately for him, the future is one of punishment, even if the relationship remained platonic, which seems unlikely.
Even if a student is at the legal age of consent I'm pretty sure that a teacher can be charged if there are any shenanigans with a pupil over that age as long as he/she is in the teachers care. Waiting until a student is 16 makes no difference in a teacher-student tryst, it is, I believe, a criminal offence.

One who has 2 beautiful children one of whom she had as a 17 yr old girl did not think there was a problem with the fact that when she was a school girl she never came home from school before going out and used to come home at 10 pm every night in her uniform and her parents thought that was fine until at 16 she fell pregnant
Then the question of who when and how were raised and they realised they knew nothing about their daughters social activities
I aint trying to say the parents of this young girl followed the same easy going code
But you need to be aware of the scenerios that these young niave and impresionable kids are exposed to and y
A teacher at that school was convicted of sexual offences against children 3 years ago & a Canon who was The Head of The Board of Governors has also been under investigation for 14 months with "paedophile" accusations against him.
or getting better? I refuse to believe there weren't as many active paedophiles working in schools/with children before the internet, in fact there were probably just as many if not more. The police are getting hotter and with the more child porn libraries they find the more they learn and the more they can find and prosecute these criminals. Don't think more arrests = the problem getting worse, it could well mean the opposite.

Tell you what I wouldn't if a 30 yr old man went near my 16 yr old daughter it would be me that went to jail and I would go safe in the knowledge that the dirty Bstd at minimum would never walk or talk again
'never walk or talk again'. That means you'd be in prison for life then. A bit radical if your daughter really wanted to do it? Would that make any difference?
You do that by having boundries control an element of freedom but by being a responsible and understanding parent not your childs friend
Exactly what I used to say that to my missus. Her style of parenting differed vastly from mine - she wanted to be our daughters mate and this sometimes clouded her vision when it came to being her mother. Whereas my daughter knew exactly where she stood with me. As a consequence when dramas arose my daughter would come to me as she knew who would be more 'real'.
Must have done something right tho, we dropped her off at University on Saturday.
It will be a trial and error process but you cant be both things until they are grown up and have famlies of their own but still then you will always need to be a mum or dad

The bloke has been able to vote for 12 years, can drive, drink, experienced drugs, gamble, been to Uni, has a house, seen the world, experienced with women, more emotionally experienced, could've even had a previous wife & kids.
This girl is still in her innocence. Still a child. No matter how grown up & experienced some young girls are nowadays I find it unbelieveable that anyone would choose not to raise any concerns if he'd waited until she was 16.

He'd have to be caught first to be in prison. I'm sure he'd have friends or family who would feel the same and things would be sorted.

The parents of Megan have just been released after 4 days in hospital. Apparently they made a double suicide attempt by overdose. Although, it was the mother that raised the alarm.
