Tonight showed the value of having good wide players, as their's ran the show. Jackson is no wide player at this level and the fact he keeps getting subbed perhaps shows Powell realises that as well. Maybe a loan will come in for the position, as we can't afford to keep carrying Jackson every game.
We need wingers, if he carries on playing pritchard and jackson in the wings we are going down. Jackson either needs to find a different position on get dropped
I was saying before the game I'd like to see Kerkar start on the left with either Green or Haynes on the right. After seeing our inept performance last night, I stand by my original thoughts. There's no room for sentiment, unless we're happy to become a yo-yo club between this division and L1. Jacksons days as a starting 11 player have gone as far as I can see. Pritchard, with all his enthusiasm, is not a wide player. He looks lost out wide and seems to get sucked into the middle, leaving us exposed on that flank.
Would be happy to be proven wrong sometime in the near future, but going on what I've seen so far, No chance...............
Jackson is a central midfielder now, he spent all preseason there, it's a wonder why Powell hasn't moved him in sooner to be honest, what was the point in playing well all preseason using a midfield 3 or a narrow diamond midfield, to then revert to a 442 when the season starts? Him, Stephens and Green will deliver a lot of quality chances to BWP, Kermo and Fuller imo, and as we have seen in this league there seems to be a greater emphasis on midfield
Well it's finally happened. JJ has made the move that many have been saying should happen and by all accounts he had a good game. I myself am not yet convinced he can run a midfield but it looks like we will get the opportunity to see if he can. Hope I'm wrong and he solves our problem.
I really dont care if anyone disagrees with me but i need to get my views out, jackson is not a championship player, i love the guy but he has done nothing in the three games ive seen him in. Im not calling for him to be sold or a replacement brought in on loan, but i just feel all the time we play him we will not become stronger. Carrying a player cannot happen in this league or you will be found out , as shown at forest . Rant over, expecting divided opinions
I would have said the same until I watched him today at Ipswich!! He looked happy in the middle and after he scored in particular, he had a really solid game.
Couldn't understand people giving him a hard time. I knows he's had a couple of bad games, but his leadership and attitude last season was crucial to our success on and off the field. He is a great asset to the club and a very skillful, intelligent player. He is clearly not suited to the winger role anymore, so I'm glad that CP has made this change, however.
Remember when we looked a much poorer side without him last season? I still think we are better with him in the team than out. Him playing CM seems the perfect solution and I hope he grows into it. As for who best partners him...well......
I can understand people giving him a hard time! we were losing, he did not look at all convincing on the wing and we were sinking into bottom 6... but that was then and now we have had a decent away win... Now that the management have been brave enough to play two wingers we've heard he was OK to good in centre mid... Can't wait to see this new midfield set up at the Valley and perhaps it won't be too long before there are 3 centre mids on the pitch as CP switches to 3-5-2 or 4-5-1
JJ has seemingly played every position in midfield this season, 2nd half today I had no idea what position he was playing and this season he is a passenger in the side

He's been cack so far ! Need to replace him !

Does that make him brilliant?

It is not detracting from his ability as a footballer and our skipper
I am glad that it worked in CM today and looking at the players marks thread he seems to have had a real solid steady game
There is man love for JJ but football has no place for sentiment
SCP needs to find a solution to a weak area of our team and if JJ can offer that solution then I am very very happy with that
"we brought 1200 down there, the away end was pretty full and they got behind us which is good considering performances of late"
