I would love nothing more than jackson to have a great season from here on in, win Player of the year and everyone to tell me what a massive twat i am , i just cant see it happening though im afraid

Oh, I dunno, I'd have thought it's quite likely you'll be called a massive Twat at some point this season.
  • He's 16.

Last week he slagged off "his usual lazy self" BWP. Next week he'll find someone else to slate.

Eventually he'll grow up but till then best to ignore.

    This. .

I thought when he went centre mid for a bit in the 2nd half he actually spread the ball about quite nicely and did quite well, where as when he was on the wing he was out of the game completely. I personally think JJ would be a good centre mid and we should give him some time there as he clearly has quality which just hasn't been evident in these 4 games in long periods.

I will agree with you there, looks better in midfield , but needs a whole game there!!! Kerkar out wide
  • Jackson looked a lot more comfortable in the middle
  • Jackson looked a lot more comfortable in the middle

Yes that could be the solution.

If Jacko had pace he'd be in the prem given the quality of the rest of his game.

Today was a reality check as to the realistic aspirations for the season.

As I said on the match thread if there are three worse teams than us in this division I'll be happy.

Survival is the name of the game given the limitations of our midfield although I think the back 5 and strikers are more than comfortable at the level.
  • Thought Powell missed a trick with green who was at forest could have had a good game against them to prove to himself something. Would had put balls into the box and set pieces would be better than what we saw.
  • Last season I enjoyed going to watch Charlton for the first time in years. It was made easier because we won but actually just as much it was enjoyable because I felt there was an affinity with our players that had been missing for so long. They genuinly felt happy at the club and had nice things to say about Charlton and the fans.

Jackson was, and still is a big part of that. I have only seen the 2 home games this season and he has looked a bit off the pace, however that boy has earnt the right to have some respect from the fans and to be given somewhat more than 3/4 games before pricks start setting up threads after every game (1 minute after the final whistle this time in fact) to slate him.

Maybe he will make the step up, maybe he won't but while Powell wants to pick him and whilst he gives everything he has to the cause, and comes across as a decent chap at the same time I will support him all the way.
  • My concern is, if we move him into a more central position, we'll have to make up a new song for him..............................................

"Johnnie, oh Johnnie Jackson sits in the centre circle for me". Doesn't have the same ring to it.

  • the concern is defo RM. Pritch played there first 3 games, Cook today and Haynes then come on. We have 2 players in every position but Green is arguably 4th choice. He should probably go if Powell isn't go to play him.

  • Plus Waggy who seems to have completely disappeared.
  • I like Jackson. he's a good honest pro, but he isnt blessed with pace which can be a problem if you're on the wing.

He does sometimes go invisible but in League one that was somewhat ignored by the fact he kept banging in goals.

I also don't understand why kermorgant doesnt take our FK's. he's so brilliant at it

Jackson did prove last year that he isn't the worst either!
  • Maybe he & Hamer should get on twatter tonight and try to convince everyone they both played blInders today...

  • I thought he did alright in the second half, he's never going to have pace but at least his stamina looked better today
  • I would like to see green given a go on the right

Green has 2yrs left on his contract , wagstaff 1 yr . Green is a better footballer than all the midfield apart from Stephens who plays a different role. Would have thought cp would have him a first choice and give him a run of games to get back to speed . He was bought as a attacking winger not a defender
, let the defenders do their job. If the right back can't do the job get a experienced one that can . How Jackson gets a game with his fitness levels and green doesn't is unbelivable .pritchard is a c/ midfielder , and cook and Haynes are strikers. How does that make him 4th choice.

  • He has looked slow this season (thus far, it's barely started..), and I think the general consensus is that he doesn't have the pace or the trickery to go out on the wing in this division. He is still our captain and a phenomenal talent, I'd still start him but put him more central.

    Well said.
  • It's not Jackson its a collective issue. With a different set of players Jacko could look ok. The midfield we currently run isn't collectively up to Champioship standard. Many games last season it was outgunned and we won through because on an individual level we were often better than the opposition. That will happen far far less this season. Unless we get in at least one and hopefully two championship standard central midfielders we will re run this debate many many times.
