As important as Jackson has been for us, I would be surprised if he were to keep a player like Aluko out of the team. I don't think he would come to Charlton to be a substitute either.
Have a look at the win percentage when Jackson is in the team against when he isn't. Not only that- he is the club captain. Saying that he is a vital player for us in a huge understatement.
Not doubting JJ's influence one bit, and I am a huge fan of his. I'm just stating that a player like Aluko is from the drawer above what we have at the moment. And that's most definitely not a knock or criticism of our current bunch.
I'm not sure what all this excitement about Aluko is all about - he's been playing in a league which is the equivalent standard to League One. I bet there are plenty of players from league One, including 3 or 4 from us, who could put together an impressive you tube video from last season. Would be a massive gamble IMO.
If we're looking at all I'm sure CP & PC will know a lot more about him than can be revealed on a video like that. Yes, he looks exciting but have we learned nothing from some of those "YouTube" signings in the past?

"YouTube" signings generally happen with players from leagues or countries that we aren't too familiar with.
Aluko's reputation with Rangers is relatively well known for those who watch Rangers or even just those who have seen the Old Firm games.

Pretty much every single player in our current team would have been considered League One/League Two standard when we signed them, but I wouldn't doubt them in the Championship at all.
The SPL may be a 'League One standard' league but Rangers' first team is much, much higher than that. Probably upper Championship/lower Premiership. Look at players they've had recently like Jelavic.
Aluko is a cracking player, he took the SPL by storm for Rangers, also had a previous spell with Aberdeen, he was one of the best players in the SPL last year. superb signing for us if true
Not sure how it would be a legal minefield...it has been reposrted that his contract was only to the end of the season, so he should be a free agent.
Even if that wasn't reported correctly, as soon as the new owners up there officially move their "assets" into newco, then players can walk away if they want. Green has been spouting that the players MUST move across and quoting TUPE, but Employment Law is not on his side in that.
Anything involving Rangers at the moment is a grey area.
It's an absolute shambles at the moment but I think it only fair that they should be forced to start from the bottom - though admittedly I don't know the full circumstances on their problem

Isn't that just why it could be a legal minefield ie the TUPE/NEWCo stuff.
isn't tupe primarily concerned with a situation when a service contract is changed or outsourced, and the employees are entitiled to be offered equal contracts with the new vendor, to avoid a backhanded way of sacking people
If a company is sold your contract with the company is unaffected. If the company assets are sold and you transfer to a new employer with the assets, TUPE says you are treated as if it was a company sale and your contractual terms don't change.
TUPE is 100% at the employee's discretion. You can't force TUPE transfer someone. They always have the option to stay with their current company (if it exists) or to leave.
Exactly guys...TUPE means that the employee should not be disadvantaged by any move, but the important part is that it is entirely their decision to then accept the terms, whether they are the same or improved. Newco have no ability to enforce the switch.
If anything, I can only see that this would make any transfer easier. And that's without the original thought that he is actually out of contract anyway.
There wouldn't be a development fee...he's only been there 6 months, so not a player they have developed. As Richard mentions, it also doesn't apply cross-border anyway.

He loves it at Rangers though.

Plus it's an international transfer : - )
