Whats your view on Wycombe?

  • According to a mate of mine, who is a Wednesdayite, most of their fans felt some sympathy with Megson as a former player and fan and Mandaric probably lost a lot of goodwill at the time of the sacking - most Wednesday supporters conveniently forgetting, of couse, that the club was on the verge of administration when Mandaric took over and that no other investor would touch them with a bargepole. Megson apparently had a couple of falling outs before he got the boot - with Mandaric over O'Grady ( the big Summer signing at £300,00, who the chairman didn't rate ) and with Aldridge, the ex- West Ham CEO over the failure to sign Ben Marshall. There were also, unsurprisingly ( and quite rightly ), general concerns over Megson's style of "hoofball."

All forgotten now, of course, and no one can doubt that Mandaric made the right call. I haven't seen anything of Wednesday since our game up there in January but, according to my mate, they are now retaining possession much better and, in consequence, are not conceding so many late goals as a result of being knackered. Antonio ( who Megson tried earlier to get on loan post-Marshall ) has been their best player, although it may be that Reading will wish to retain him. Ditto the Wolves loanee, Batth.

In terms of Saturday, Wycombe will certainly give it a go but, given their defensive frailty and lack of pace at the back, Wednesday have to be big favourites. Young Ched's conviction certainly came at a bad time for the Blades, although but for the rape charge, I expect he'd have been sold in January. If they end up in the play offs and Stevenage hold onto 6th place, they sure won't be looking forward to the trip to Hertfordshire ( who in their right mind would ? ).

Spot on post word for word, WAWAW. ;)

  • Weds 3 Wycombe 0 stroll in the park, would be so shocked if Wycombe pulled a result out of the bag.
  • Why's everybody so anti-Wednesday and pro-United on here?

What did they do to offend the massed ranks of Lifers?

Really? where have you been all season, and sorry if for genuine reasons you missed it up to now but almost to a man they have been a menace on here and Owls talk, during the game at Hillsborough their then manager Megson acted with such little dignity that it was embarrassing for him, after the game theywanted to fight all and sundry outside including dads with children and scarfers.
The constant "were big and Charlton will blow it" was far more than banter it was an incredible act of delusion. As for the Blades, we beat them home and away and I personally didnt receive anything but genuine praise and best wishes from their supporters I encountered.

To show some balance OP has persisted coming on here and since we got promoted has actually been civil and spoke sense, whether this is a case of Stockholm syndrome on my behalf or he is showing genuine affection for us I am not sure but he has certainly calemd his skin since the Carlisle game...
  • Cheers for all the feedback guys, I know we've wound each other up all season but deep down I have a soft spot for Charlton, first visit to a Charlton away game was at Selhurst Park in 88 (I think) and was really happy when you went back to the Valley, all the best for next Season lads.
Who are BWP_IS_GOD and Charlton_Clive, please step forward lol.
  • Can i just have the pleasure in adding to this thread I started when I was god damn nervous, Beavon had about three touches all game, Wycombe did not have one shot on goal (honest) the closest they came was a Matt Bloomfield effort that flashed wide in the second half, other then that we had it under control although the first 20 minutes was nerve wrecking lol.

Fair play to the 400 fans that supported Wycombe (mixed with Wednesday that got tickets from Wycombe lol) they actually joined in with our own songs lol, hope they get straight back up soon.
