Championship expectations

Off subject of us, but I expected Leicester to be starting the season with a points deduction. The rumours/news in May was this was a definite, as they previously avoided it, but it was agreed points would be taken for this season since they will be back in EFL.As we're two weeks from starting season and no deduction, I presume they've managed to do a deal with EFL to ignore the financial issues (cheating).1

NTT20 have predicted us to avoid relegation and finish 19th, relegation places below
22nd: Oxford
23rd: Hull
24th: Sheffield Wednesday

Ben HD on YouTube (wasn't aware of his channel until today, but has 52k subscribers) has us finishing 21st.Thinks could be higher if we get in a starting quality no.10. Says that most people think we will struggle to score enough goals, but we will be okay with Tanto and Kelman, as well as Godden. He has Hull, Oxford, Wednesday to be relegated.1

Listening to this Second Tier pod now on key players, and they don't sound as clued up as the NTT20 guys. They've identified CBT as Derbys key player ffs.
Will listen to NTT20 tomorrow on a stroll.0 -
NTT20 mentioned our defence of Macca, Jones and Ramsey might not be up to champ standards, but when talking about our transfers they completely missed out Burke and Bell, and no mention of Kaminski…they seemed to have brushed over us a bit2

Markets have 100/1 Champions… 33/1 Promotion an 12/1 top six. Relegation 3/1 bottom 12/1 .However top half is a really miserable 11/4, I think 5/1 is a lot nearer the true price. None of the odds currently available on Charlton appear to be any value.

Dont mind us EFL Championship... We're just passing through7

Looking at the signings we’ve made this window and the players we already had I just get the impresssion that this is a squad that’s going to have a lot of fun this season.2

The Sportsmen preview:

Not a 1-24, but short bit on each side and expectations. All think we'll be fine, a couple even suggesting we might be top half, possibly even playoffs.0 -
If we survive, even playing the football everybody hates, then it will be a hugely enjoyable season.
Anything else would be a bonus.
I reckon there will be some of our support who might criticise any lack of beauty and flair, but would you rather have a Nissan Micra that gets you there, or a beautiful Jaguar broken down at the side of the road whilst you wait for the AA?
If we can stay up then our signings now suggest we can push on next year.2 -
My concern is making a slow start. We’ve had a lot of new players and the ones who haven’t worked with NJ before have come later on the whole. We know NJ works a bit differently to other coaches so it might take a while for them to fully buy in and adapt. Can get away with a slow start in L1 when you can scrape results anyway, much harder when you’re a newly promoted Championship team

Pretty happy. Think we have a very good chance if staying in the league. I know the opposition was easier today, but I can see the understanding developing between the players. Will be ups and downs but 12-16 is my prediction0

Had a top 6 bet that paid out last season, followed by betting on winning the playoff's.
Optimistic bet this season is a top half finish.0 -

I think we’ll finish 16th or 17th. That’ll do. Sadly I think Millwall will finish 6th.1

The second tier podcast has put out their bottom 8 from their 1-24. The middle 8 comes out on Tuesday. Then top 8 on Thursday. I’ve been listening to them over the summer and seem to know their stuff (Allbeit being Derby fans and think John Eustace is god). It’s a good listen as they analyse each club and players to look out for.

One thing that stood out from being at both Ipswich and Southend games was how difficult we found it to get decent possession in the final third. Balls out of defence were mostly being lost and coming straight back. When Gas came on yesterday, we finally had a target man who was winning headers, linking up play and made the likes of Carey and Apter more of a threat. If he is going to Bolton, then the lack of this type of player in our squad concerns me despite all the other signings.0

We were cursed that season, especially after such a strong start. All began to unravel after that first International Break.
All IFs and BUTs though
Ironically when Luton announced Nathan Jones was back as Manager, I thought that would be problematic for us (even without the Covid break), as they were f**ked under Graeme Jones.
My biggest annoyance was when Barnsley got their late winner against Nottingham Forest in their penultimate match... I got the maths wrong, thought they were already down, and remember thinking it was nice they were saving a bit of face.6
